November 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. While everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, a number of your recent file uploads, such as File:Flavour-nabania.jpg, had missing or false information regarding their source and copyright status. Please note that Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Images and other media must only be uploaded if their copyright status meets the conditions stated in our image use policy, and if their provenance is clearly documented. If you have questions, feel free to ask at the copyright question page or on my talk page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 00:01, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Gideon Baah.jpg.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Why do my files keep getting removed[edit]

Why do my files keep getting removed even when they are pictures that I have taken or have been authorised to use? This is getting rather frustrating! What did I do wrong with that last photo that was removed? I thought I indicated that it was an authorised picture

Your question. Hazelnike (talk) 07:57, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is to with Wikipedia's rules on non-free content. Here's an example: the album cover displayed at Yellow Submarine (album) is a copyrighted image; EMI Records own the image, and only they have the rights to use the image without restriction - to sell copies, use it to decorate their catalogues, and so on. But it's OK to use in an encyclopedia article about the album because of the "fair use" rule, a limited exemption from the copyright restrictions. But I would not be allowed to display the Yellow Submarine picture on my user page, because that would not count as "fair use".
So with File:Flavour-nabania-2.jpg. You have told us that the image comes from www.badbeatrecords.com, where I can see the message "© 2011 Bad Beats Records. All rights reserved". So it's definitely a copyrighted image. Under Wikipedia's rules, it could be used in an article about this artist, if one were to be written, but it cannot be used on any other page.
I hope that helps! Feel free to ask more questions. -- John of Reading (talk) 08:12, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the message. I'm sorry, my answer wasn't good enough. I don't yet keep all of the "fair use" rules in my head. I've have struck part of my earlier answer and will try again...
Before a copyrighted image can be used at Wikipedia under the "fair use" rules, it has to be clear that no freely-usable image could be used instead. The "Yellow Submarine" picture passes this test; there are no freely-usable images of this album cover because the design of the cover is copyrighted. A copyrighted image of, say, Tower Bridge could not be used under the "fair use" rules, because it is easy to imagine that someone could go there tomorrow, take a fresh picture, and release it without copyright restrictions. This is point 1 at WP:NFCC.
So for most images of living people, copyrighted images cannot be used under the "fair use" rule. If someone happened to be in the right place tomorrow with a camera, they could take a picture of Flavour N'abania or Gideon Baah and release it without copyright restrictions. And that's why those copyrighted images can't be used at Wikipedia. -- John of Reading (talk) 19:51, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

{{help me}} Ah ok.. That's a bit clearer..! So how do I go about pictures that I have taken myself or pictures that have been taken for either Flavour or Gideon using their own cameras? When I upload those, how do I specify? The picture that was deleted of Gideon was taken by the club photographer with Gideon's camera for instance.

If you have pictures that you have taken yourself, those are much easier to use here. You can upload those at Wikimedia Commons using this form, and you can choose to release all your rights as copyright-holder (public domain) or only some of them (CC-BY-SA).
If pictures have been taken by someone else, they will probably hold the copyright. The procedures for that are described at Donating copyrighted materials. It's more complicated. The idea is that you upload the picture and then the copyright holder has to send in an email to confirm the permission. -- John of Reading (talk) 20:41, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Gideon Baah. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.--Oleola (talk) 19:50, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing, as you did at Gideon Baah. Your edits have been reverted or removed.

Do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively may result in you being blocked from editing.--Oleola (talk) 19:58, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. --Oleola (talk) 20:00, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you keep removing information I have written?

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 14:32, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Make yourself familiar with basic policies here on wikipedia:Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, especially Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, Wikipedia:External links. I made a basic clean up of that article per policies and you reverted my proper edit without any reason, restoring inappropriate youtube links - thats a vandalism.--Oleola (talk) 15:54, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Trevor-Mutero.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Trevor-Mutero.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 22:17, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Diamond Sports footballers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 19:58, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Chinonso Offor has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NFOOTY and WP:GNG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi, I would suggest you to move the article to the draftspace until he makes his competitive debut for Chicago Fire. Nehme1499 20:04, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, just an FYI, the guideline in WP:NFOOTY is that Offor must play in an "official" game for the Chicago Fire. In this case, that would be an Major League Soccer game and certain U.S. Open Cup games. This was just a friendly and thus doesn't count as an official competitive game. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 23:17, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Anthonieta Kalunta moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Anthonieta Kalunta, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Possible COI ?[edit]

Could you please (if any) explain to me the relationship between you and that of the subject of your latest article Draft:Anthonieta Kalunta, if there isn’t, why are you duplicating unreliable references in bid to substantiate their notability? Celestina007 (talk) 22:36, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Infact, it appears you ref dubbed the unreliable source 5 times in the article, can you explain why you did so? Celestina007 (talk) 23:42, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

She's an actress that was in an Oscar selected movie and she just won an award in the recent Best of Nollywood Awards. Must there be a relationship? The reference I used is where the information was available. What makes it unreliable? Please explain or let me know what you class as reliable.

Concern regarding Draft:Anthonieta Kalunta[edit]
