Nonsense of User:The SRS/Secret Page

I have been registered for 1 year, 11 months, and 15 days. In the past, ie over a year ago, I wanted to be an administrator. After discovering a couple of unpleasant facts about Wikipedia, and getting a peak at the admin tools on Wikia, however, I decided the tools aren't worth the stress and the incredibly strict code of conduct. However, that is just my opinion. My goals: I hope to continue helping the editors around me. I take part in discussions, put vandals in their place, and every once in a while I'll perform maintenance. I also make a point of helping new users. I'm content where I am. I could do a lot more, but this is volunteer work :P. Anyway, whatever your goals are, I can help you reach them. I've been around the block more than once. Yeah, I've been established for a while now. It took me about six months to get really settled in; nothing is immediate. I've only ever seen 2 users fully understand the system from the time they registered, GaryColemanFan and the now retired Bmg916. I have two subpages, User:The Hybrid/Signature and User:The Hybrid/Signature2, that I transclude onto pages like templates depending on the situation. Actually, that's the only reason. Motivation is the only thing necessary to learn. Many of the users who have asked me to mentor them in the past have mysteriously disappeared soon after, which is what prompted me to stop adopting. Don't get me wrong, I don't scare people away. To the contrary, I've helped many users establish themselves. The users who wanted help would simply take us up on our offers to answer questions without actually making it "official", yet the users who only intended to be casual editors would sign up for official adoption. It got annoying. The unmotivated would ask for a commitment from me, but not commit themselves, while the motivated felt no need to establish a commitment. As a result, I removed myself from the list of adopters, and the category of adopters seeking adoptees. Disappeared figuratively; they finalized the adoption, then never asked any questions. When asked how they're doing, they'd say fine, and then I'd never hear from them again until I asked again. You didn't give me a descrpition of what ya wanted, so I went with I had. I changed some colors around and I gave a more sexy font. I can still make the font more sexier and readable if ya want. RE:SRS or SRX?

He used to be Truco9311 (actually, he had a whole bunch of aliases before then), before he changed his name to Truco-X, and then SRX. If you haven't edited for more than 5 minutes, then they list you as logged off, which is why I don't use them anymore. Yeah, it gets annoying. If you'd like you can just switch the setup into your userspace, and have it be independent of the bots. Cheers, -The Hybrid- 01:15, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

I know it's your sig, but wouldn't it be better if the whole "The SRS" link to your user page? If you're worried about the colors, I can still keep them the same way. See WP:SIG for details of what is and isn't appropriate; in general, a sig shouldn't take up more than two, or at most three, lines in the edit window, and should not include links to an autograph page. If you see anyone else violating policies, feel free to point them towards the appropriate policy pages; it's a lot less WP:BITEy to advise them to comply with policy than for them to find themselves blocked until they fix the problem... I hate to do this...

I just did a recent contributions check, and your contributions are dominated by userspace edits. You need to stick to namespaces other than the userspace until you have around 500 mainspace contributions. This gives you a cushion to say you aren't using Wikipedia as a Myspace, but even then make sure there's no more than a 1 vs. 1.5 ratio between them. You can check your contributions here. You really need to get that mainspace edit count up, and slow that userspace edit count's growth. Peace, -The Hybrid- 02:35, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
