Master of Public Health

I just created a category for the MPH (Master of Public Health) degree, and would like to create a user box for it as well. Using the code I found, I picked some colors and generated one in the format of the other degree boxes:

I don't know how to create new userboxes

Third-party politics

I would like to see some users-boxes to fit more of the third parties. We have Republican, Democrat, liberal, conservative, etc, but none of the third parties. Heres what I would like to see: "This user is a member of the (Green Party, Constitution Party, Etc.)". As a member of the Green party, it would be most helpful. Some suggestions. First, for those (like moi...) who make more posts on talk pages than edits on pages:

because I find the dark grey of the existing box makes links too hard to read. I thought I saw an automatic counter somewhere, like this somewhere... I wouldn't want to do it manually... As for the 2d, I'm using it now (in white & yello, tho). And then these:

Kindness Campaign extension emboldening User Talk pages. Should this be a new category of Userbox (beyond Template:, User:, or Wikipedia:, to Talk:?) or should it be a subcategory of User: located under User_Talk/Userboxes/ ?

The aim here is to give ruffians a heads-up that their coarse language and hostile ways will be scrubbed as it arrives, their ears will be washed, and their manners will be required, else their contribution severely curtailed or restricted by recharacterization and refactoring. Gone will be the times of old when quivering Users were pelted with gangland graffiti seemingly without authority to change the course of conversation lest it be called 'Vandalizing their own Talk Page'! Individual sovereignty in sleek, squeaky-clean filtration will keep out the vulgarity of the gutters and depressed, mean-spirited insouciance to good faith. Chin up!

Christianity & Color(race)

Looking through the religion userboxes, I noticed that none of them are very plain or general; the plainest one had the fish symbol, which may not appeal to someone who doesn't identify as a Prostestant. My idea: All black, white letters, white empty cross, with the words "This user is an adherent (to/of?) Christianity" or such. Also, the ethnicity boxes aren't very general either, so I reckoned one could say "This user identifies as white" and "This user identifies as black". The "...identifies..." would make the potential user of the box feel more comfortable as they may identify as white/black even though they're not completely Caucasian/Negro. I'd create these boxes myself, but I've never been able to pick up the skill. PS: If I add/delete/move userboxes on my profile, can I mark that as a minor edit? Not always. Minor edits are mainly fixing a speelin error. If your were to fix that misspelled word in the sentence, that is a minor edit. Moving/Deleting/Adding can count if it is, well, short. Here is the userbox you requested:

To add a picture, I think you'd want to find a picture on wikipedia you like, click on it, and find the title, which should be in large, bold print over the image. Then try adding the title, for lack of a better word, in the spot you have marked id=MH. Unless I'm mistaken, that should work. I'm not sure how to give userboxes a simple, pretty code like {{User:UBX/French cooking}, though; I haven't much bothered to figure it out yet. I've already pasted these boxes on a different Talk Page but maybe this is the right place for help/advice. As you can see, I'm toying with a series of userboxes based on Classical literature (Aristophanes' plays in particular at the moment). Each box links to one of my sandboxes where the context for the statement is explained, with further links to pages about the ancient author and his works. I see this use of userboxes as a way of promoting knowledge about a given topic. What I want to know is this:

Are these boxes technically OK - or have I embedded a problem in them that will emerge later? Basically, I copied other people's boxes and experimented with them.
Is the dirty language against Wiki policy or is it OK in view of the context?
How do I set about creating a userbox category for Classical Latin and Greek Literature?
If I do create a new category, can it include a subpage like my sandbox with explanations of context?

Yes - you can! First, get a real user name. Second, create a sandbox on your user page where you can experiment. Third, copy templates from other users and - experiment! It's actually quite simple and straight forward once you have chosen a couple of templates and have worked out how to adjust them to your own needs/tastes.

One problem maybe - I created ten boxes on my own user page and there has been a sudden spike in uploads/downloads recorded by my telco, and a big increase in my bill! I'm not sure of the dynamics but I an wondering if I have in fact made my userpage more expensive to use than it once was on account of the extra data on it. I have an idea for a userbox! It can be a userbox with a TV show. Maybe a Total Drama Island and Total Drama Action one. For Total Drama Island, it would say, "This user is a fan of Total Drama Island!" and have the picture from the Total Drama Island page, and with Total Drama Action, it would say, "This user is a fan of Total Drama Action!" and have the picture from the Total Drama Action page. CDA Wikipedia:Community de-adminship

I made some basic userboxes for this major proposal; "support", "do not support", and "wary of" - various links are (here), but only a couple of people have used them. Does anyone fancy doing better? I don't think there has to be just one. CDA will be put to a public vote, possibly in late Jan or sometime in Feb. If it takes off (and it could, as a watchlist request has been made, and quite a lot of people are involved) the userboxes could get onto a lot of user pages, and it's a great way of showing support (or lack of support) for a really universal proposal. Arius

I have been recently working on the article on Arius, a fourth-century Christian theologian whose allegedly "heretical" teachings led to the formulation of the Nicene Creed and the triumph of Trinitariansm. As a person who tends to lean more toward Arius's views, I'd like to see a userbox created along the lines of "This user sides with Arius in his rejection of Trinitarian theology", or something like that. There is a small image of Arius available here: File:Arius.png, for use in that box. I'd create it myself, but I'm thoroughly confused as to how to do that, and would rather leave it to someone else who knows better, if possible! A second potential userbox might say: "This user follows the teachings of Arian Christianity", while using this image: Baptistery.Arians06.jpg. Either one, or both, would be appreciated. System Idle Process

I have no time or patience to make a userbox (heck, I'm lucky I figured out a custom sig), but it'd be cool to have one that reads:

You know, on XP task manager. The thing that tells how much CPU usage you're NOT using. The logo should simply read SIP, and it should be black with green letters. I'm pretty sure we could all use this userbox.

Classic country

I don't want a userbox that says I like country music because a lot of what country radio plays today isn't country. Or at least not what I can enjoy. {{User:Yozzer66/userboxes/Williams and Cash}} doesn't work for me either, because I don't have a deep appreciation for Johnny Cash or Hank Williams (not sure whether he means Jr. or Sr., but it doesn't matter either way). I just enjoy their music, but these are artists that imply taking it to a different level. If I had artists' names in my userbox, they would be Alan Jackson and George Strait. Userboxes about Scriptures

I was trying to find some userboxes which would indicate my interest in Hindu Scriptures (like Bhagavad-Gita, Mahabharata, etc.), but could not find any. I think the userboxes for many other Scriptures are missing too. So far I was only able to find the following ones:

This user is interested in the Bible.

This user is interested in the Qur'an.

I searched that directory very carefully before posting here. I took a bunch of boxes from there. But, just as I said above, there are no boxes related to Holy Scriptures except for the 3 I referenced above (I mean there are a few more variations about Bible and Quran, but nothing else). There are boxes about Hinduism, Buddhism and other religions in general, as well as variations of them. But a userbox about certain Scripture is something quite different... Unlike the Christianity and Islam (which have basically only Bible and Quran, as the first grade Scriptures), Hinduism and Buddhism have quite a whole Library of them. In Hinduism the popular and important ones are the epics of Mahabharata and Ramayana. Bhagavad-Gita alone is very important too. Hindu texts in general deserve a Userbox, I guess. And, depending on various denominations of Hinduism, one might include a few more, like Vedas, Upanishads, etc... Nazar (talk) 11:37, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Unlike Western religions, where there is one primary scriptures. Hinduism has many, depending on various denominations of Hinduism, Vaishanavas have the Bhagavad-Gita, the epics and Vaishnava Puranas. Shaivas have Shaiva Puranas, Shri Rudram Chamakam. Shaktism has Devi Mahatmya etc. So I suggest a userbox with "This user is interested in X" where X is a parameter. The image can be a Om or any sanskrit manuscript like File:Devimahatmya Sanskrit MS Nepal 11c.jpg or File:Bhagavad Gita, a 19th century manuscript.jpg cropped. --Redtigerxyz ^Talk 16:24, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
