Witan Investment Trust plc (Witan) is the only global multi-managed investment trust, offering an equity portfolio diversified by geographical region, industrial sector and individual stock.
Witan is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.
History
The history of Witan Investment Trust:[1]
- 1909 Witan is created to manage the estate of the first Alexander Henderson, 1st Baron Faringdon.
- 1924 Witan listed on the London Stock Exchange.
- 1932 Witan founds Henderson Administration (now Henderson Global Investors) to manage its funds.
- 1983 Henderson becomes a public company.
- 1997 Witan’s remaining stake in Henderson is sold to AMP.
- 2004 Witan becomes self managed and appoints its first Chief Executive Officer. Witan adopts multi-manager.
- 2009 Witan celebrates its centenary.
- 2010 Witan appoints its current CEO, Andrew Bell.[2]

The company has assets under management of approximately £1.11 billion.[3] Its portfolio is actively managed by 12 investment managers for 6 different mandates,[3] with overall asset allocation and risk being managed by Witan’s executive team.
