    Calendars

Do you know how people in India print gregorian calendar (with january, february, ... ) calendars? Do they print sundays red? Do they print some days in different color? Maksim-e 21:15, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Among the calenders that I have seen, Sunday is printed in different shade (not necessarily red but like red ex: red, orange, pink etc. but not green/blue), and is usually the first day of the week, though calenders starting with Monday are also common. Saturday may or may not (more common) be different colour. No other day of week gets special shade though days/dates with holiday and/or of religious significance may have picture or special colour.Ashish G 23:29, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    Hindu-Arabic numerals

Hi! User:RN moved the article to Arabic numerals despite 28 votes favoring the title "Hindu-Arabic numerals" and only 17 favoring "Arabic numerals." He argues that if we don't count voters with less that 150 (or sth like that) edits, only 56% voters "support changing the title to Hindu-Arabic numerals", while at least 60% support votes are required. However, it was agreed between all parties in the beginning of the vote that the proposal is to move the article to "Arabic numerals" from "Hindu-Arabic numerals." It was also agreed (though I thought it was very unfair) that:

    • Those opposing the move have the advantage that it won't be moved unless there's a 60% majority
    • Those supporting the move have the advantage that the person proposing the move can do the *short* opening statement.
    • For all the rest of the voting procedure both parties are equal. (quoting Francis Schonken from 21:04, 18 December 2005 (UTC))[reply]

I would definitely have preferred it the other way round, since I think an opening statement makes a HUGE difference, since many people just read the opening statement and understandably don't bother with the discussion below the votes. The present situation was accepted with the agreement that the article will be moved to "Arabic numerals" only if more than 60% voters favored that title. Thus, only 40% oppose votes were sufficient to retain the title "Hindu-Arabic numerals." In the present situation (with over 60% voters opposing the change), I find the move to "Arabic numerals" ridiculous, besides being completely unjust and unfair. Your comments will be appreciated. deeptrivia (talk) 05:12, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    Page name for temperature articles

To avoid flip-flopping between 'degree Fahrenheit' and 'Fahrenheit' or 'degree Celsius' and 'Celsius', I propose that we have a discussion on which we want. I see you have contributed on units of measurement, please express your opinion at Talk:Units of measurement. Thanks. bobblewik 22:55, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    Hanuman Temple at Varanasi

I created the article since the temple was assosiated with blasts that occured today. Please read this BBC article. The temple has a history assosiated with it. I feel it is notable enough. If you still otherwise, fine with me. - Ganeshk (talk) 23:51, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am a strong believer that stubs eventually expand. A one-liner article still deserves to exist. I have already added the city to the title. Thanks for understanding. - Ganeshk (talk) 00:03, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It wasn't me, but Mushroom (talkcontribs) has removed your speedy delete request. It was removed since no reason was specified. You should use {{db|<reason>}} template to provide reason. - Ganeshk (talk) 00:13, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    Re:This{talk page} is not a discussion forum.

I read your remarks about how the talk page is not to be used to discuss how to tackle terrorism in India. With all due respect, why do you care? You're in the US-you don't have to worry about bombs going off the next time you visit a temple.Or a government building.Or a busstop.Or a railway station.Or a school. The list is endless. So please stay happy in sunny Cali, using your IIT education to serve America and please do not restrict Indians from talking about something which concerns them very deeply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prasi90 (talkcontribs)

Request,Nomination for removal of Khalistan article

Hello Sir I'm nominating this page for deletion because it is written with a point of view , excessive use of unreliable sources.and the title "Khalistan" is wrong for the topic because "Khalistan" does not exist, lack of support from resident Punjabi's and Sikhs in India, but there was a "Movement for Khalistan" and that is the right title for the topic, and i think this whole article "a new name" should be rewritten with the help of people from sikh community "in" India and other Indians, because this topic is related to politics/people of India. We all should understand Khalistan is not a political entity and having a article is not justified, Microsoft Encarta and Britannic encyclopedia don't have an article known as "Khalistan" but they do have articles on the movement that took place decades back, and i think there are also copyright issues involved with this article because big parts of this article are written on other peoples research. Many reliable sources are used to show "one side" of their view on the topic, there are also indications that organisations banned by US and EU are involved in providing their research on the movement.I am a strong supporter to have a stub on this topic , but im afraid that such articles on wikipedia have become mouthpieces for organisation which are known for disrupting peace (assassination of one of india's prime minister, twin bomb blast in New Delhi on the eve of Diwali) in Indian sub continent. This article requires your attention , please help. Anmol.2k4 18:51, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
