Edit reversion on "The Americans"

Hi,

I changed Jennings' to Jenningses because Jenningses is the proper plural form of Jennings. That's the only reason.

Thanks.

Google Chrome user who tried to edit due to having the John Oliver extension

Sorry about the edit that was caused by the Google Chrome extension from Last Week Tonight With John Oliver that I downloaded earlier today. Bailey House Museum

Aloha, I'm attempting to make updates to the Bailey House Museum page because The Maui Historical Society is changing the official name of the museum to Hale Hoike'ike. Change to Minnesota Timberwolves page

Under the individual awards sections there is a slot for slam dunk contest winners, I removed the entry about Gerald Green winning it in 2007 because although he did win it that year it was not with the Minnesota Timberwolves it was with the Boston Celtics, I noticed a message saying that my deletion had been undone and that entry was put back in place, just wanted to inform you that it was incorrect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.129.55.192 (talkcontribs) 04:09, 1 March 2016 (UTC) [reply]

Deletion - Chris Layland

Hi! I suggested the speedy deletion for Christian Layland under WP:N that you removed, on the basis of a Google News search shows a single news source referring to the subject in the context of the article's main claim to notability (a football podcast), and no News or Scholar archive results. Further, the majority of the external links (thefootballsack.com) are from the website of the article's subject. I still think it fails the WP:N criteria, but I'm not sure whether to nominate for deletion under the AfD process, or whether a suggestion that it be merged with an article about said blog - any advice for a new editor? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tiredgrad (talkcontribs) 04:34, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Tiredgrad! You're actually in luck! I just explained Wikipedia's speedy deletion guidelines over on PaulAshford's talk page. Hello I'm new and I wish to make a wiki page about myself. Is that possible? Everest.Andrew (talk) 04:10, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Everest.Andrew, thanks for leaving me a message with your question. Is it technically possible? Yes. Your account is not going to prevent you from doing so (so long as it's autoconfirmed). Is it okay to do? No. You should read Wikipedia's guidelines on conflict of interest. Editing articles where you have a conflict of interest is highly discouraged behavior. It doesn't allow you to edit in a neutral point of view. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 04:57, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

Hi Oswah,

I've recently made some changes to Garage Magazine's page – while explaining and using citations of any changes that I have made – and you have deleted them all, reverting the page back to its original state. Please may I ask why? If I have made any mistakes I will be more than happy to explain.

(Most information and imagery on the page was out of date, quite considerably. I was trying to bring the page back into relevance.)

Citation Doubt

Hey. I made the page and paraphrased it myself so the page hasn't been deleted. But there are parts of my page that say 'citation needed' and 'where?'. How do I remove those and can I provide a link to any site that gives the same information about the awards? Oishid3006 (talk) 05:39, 2 March 2016 (UTC)Oishani[reply]

I am not a very experienced Wikipedia editor, but what I edited on the Fuck Me Pumps page was from http://www.ew.com/article/2007/11/10/frank that review from Entertainment Weekly. If you would please add the quote (the last in the review) to the article and cite it, that would be excellent. 75.97.50.254 (talk) 03:18, 3 March 2016 (UTC)David Fathom[reply]

Hi, 75.97.50.254 - I reverted your edit to Fuck Me Pumps because it didn't appear to be representing a neutral point of view. If it was from a source, then just make sure that you include the source and make sure to quote the source so that it doesn't appear to be commentary, but quoted from a source. Please let me know if you need anything else! Cheers! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:18, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How to speedy delete an article you're the author of

Thanks for deleting the article I marked with a db|1=author tag. What is the correct process? This page was not very helpful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chursaner (talkcontribs) 04:00, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Chursaner! Again, I welcome you to Wikipedia with open arms and an open talk page. You're more than welcome to message me here at any time with any questions or requests for help. I fixed the page that you linked; it looks like someone removed the text from the essay and it was never fixed. I'll look into it more and figure out why that happened. You were actually very close! you had put {{db|1=author}} on the top of the page you created; it just needed to be {{db-author}} instead. So you were on the right track! I apologize if the essay you provided was confusing, but it should be fixed now :-). Please do not hesitate to leave me a message if you have any more questions or if you need more help. I'll be happy to give you a hand! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 04:11, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! That was me that deleted the text.. I read somewhere that making the page blank was one way to get a speedy deletion — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chursaner (talkcontribs) 16:12, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you are correct in that blanking the article or page you created yourself will prompt another editor to tag the article for G7. However, it's usually better if you add the tag yourself (if possible), as it will save other editors time. No worries, though! You're new, and being bold is what Wikipedia is all about! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 16:15, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I need your help with a user

Hello, I have been reviewing a user's contributions, and I have noticed that they have been changing or adding unnecessary racial and religious identities to people within the articles. The user is anonymous, and has made numerous changes. The user's IP is 74.95.112.141. If it is not too much trouble, would you review the contributions? HowlingAngel (talk) 05:27, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, HowlingAngel! Sure can! Are there any specific articles or diffs that I should know about? This will point me in the right direction. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 05:40, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Since the user has changed so many, if you do find the changes to be unnecessary, you may want to review the user's contributions page. However, I'll provide some of the articles here.
Timeline of nursing history , History of surgery , Donald Soffer , Daniel Hale Williams
I reverted the edit on Daniel Hale Williams. If it was not a correct action, please undo it. I hope this helps, and thanks for helping me! HowlingAngel (talk) 05:52, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think your reversion was correct, as the picture clearly isn't of an African-American person. It could have been an honest mistake though; remember to assume good faith. Were there other examples that you reverted? This IP has made a lot of contributions; it'll be hard to go through every single one. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:25, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
There are some other examples. On the page Timeline of nursing history there seems to be some changes that are not exactly reliable. The problem, however, is the user made multiple changes to the article in separate sequences, making it hard to tell what information should be reviewed. Some of the information looks as if it's unsourced, while parts of the timeline have been removed, or events changed. HowlingAngel (talk) 06:31, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Me, Myself and I by G-Eazy and Bebe Rexha

You recently removed an edit I made to "Me, myself and I" song in the background section. My edit was made based of this interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on8F2OXGfJw Bebe Rexha gave for a radio and the source was linked to that paragraph. So before removing stuff , check the sources before. You thought was biased, well you could have opened the video of the interview and heard the exact thing in words said by the writer of the song, it was just a transcript. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.69.5.52 (talk) 09:44, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

At this point, your editing denotes that you are trying to not disclose the name of the father of the child which is already public. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.12.43.175 (talk) 09:57, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your editing was refered to Wikipedia and to his lawyers. Wikipedia has clear rules and you are obstructing them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.12.43.175 (talk) 10:08, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry!

Sorry about my edit. I wanted to say that the citations for the info you removed on the Timothy Parker page is the same FiveThirtyEight.com article. I don't know how to cite that because I'm a noob, but I think it is important information for the page. Xmaster8621 (talk) 15:07, 5 March 2016 (UTC)Xmaster8621[reply]

Hi, Xmaster8621! No apologies needed. It appears that the information added was the same by two different users (or the same user while logged out) - each without citing any sources. There was also issues regarding Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, which was why I removed the content. All in all, it's a content dispute that needs to be discussed on the article's talk page by everyone involved. There's been too much reverting, and too little (well none) discussion happening, which is why I filed a report and will leave it to another pair of eyes to investigate and step in. If you have any questions or concerns, my talk page is always open. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:12, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikipedia Members,

I am writing to you today to inform you that my ex-husband Carl-Edward von Bismarck's wikipedia site has been tampered with and manipulated. I have tried to correct the basic errors of my name and marriage history. Unfortunately, someone has been meddling with it and using the wikipedia site for personal vendettas and defamation of character. I would like to state my true corrections in this email once more. I will correct such one more time now. If it will be tampered with again, i will hold whoever is responsible in a court of law. It is my right to have my name spelled correctly. It is my right to have my marriage history recorded and as the mother of my children.

My ex-husband last year has hacked into my Facebook account. He has changed my name, my profile picture, took off all my life contacts and has connected with my friends on Facebook impersonating me. I have reached out to Facebook and discovered through them that the new domain holder for such doing was my ex-husband's email. Facebook has given me the option to bring him on criminal charges. I have decided to let it rest and not bring him on criminal charges, i fixed my Facebook account and started a new one.

However, if these actions continue one more time on Wikipedia I will have no choice but to bring on charges whoever is tampering with it. I apologize in advance for approaching you with such an unfortunate subject and i ask you please to make sure history is recorded correctly.

Here are my changes:

1) My legal name today: Countess Nathalie von Bismarck Bariman 2) My name before marriage: Nathalie Bariman (and not Boriman as was tampered with) 3) I was married to Carl-Edward von Bismarck from 2004 to 2014. 4) We have two children together: Count Alexei von Bismarck 9 years old, Countess Grace von Bismarck 7 years old.

Again, i thank you for taking the time with the hope that you can help me put this disturbing matter to rest. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further questions you may have.

All the best, Countess Nathalie von Bismarck Bariman. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Khaoz529k (talkcontribs) 16:05, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Taoism article

Hi Oshwah,

In response to your message: I made several different edits, and it seems all of them have been reversed. I took the time to provide detailed explanations for each of those edits (found in the article history), but all of them have been reversed without any individual responses given. Saying that a variety of different edits do not adhere to a neutral point of view is not very clear. This is especially important considering that none of the edits I made actually added any text to the article. Further, one of the edits was correcting an entirely objective mistake - the misplacement of the Tao Te Ching image in the I Ching section instead of the Tao Te Ching section. By undoing my edits, that image has now been returned to the incorrect location; it is difficult for me to see how this is a point-of-view issue.

As such, could you examine the reasons I gave for each edit and explain why you feel each of them do not adhere to a neutral point of view? Sunkencathedral (talk) 17:09, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Sunkencathedral and thank you for your message. I took a look at your previous edit; I thought that you added some content that didn't appear neutral, but I just realized that you simply moved it. I went ahead and restored the page back to the state that it was in with your edits applied. Please accept my apologies for the confusion. If you need anything else, please let me know. Thanks again for leaving me a message regarding your concerns. I very much appreciate it, and I wish you happy editing! :-D ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:15, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, thank you very much for returning the article, and for your prompt reply! I was very confused about why they had been removed; but it was just an honest mistake, it's no problem at all. Thanks again, and happy editing! Sunkencathedral (talk) 17:18, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just registered on wikipedia and was wondering where a good place is to start helping out or if anything needs to be done if there is a list or something F4d3d123 (talk) 17:44, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, F4d3d123 - That is an excellent question! Wikipedia's help page with Contributing to Wikipedia is a great place to start if you're looking for somewhere to start diving in and helping out with, but aren't sure where yet. You can also browse Wikipedia's page on WikiProjects; it will let you search for projects that interest you, so you can start getting involved and helping with the articles or content that they're currently working on. Please feel free to message me again if you need more ideas, but these two places should surely set you in the correct direction. Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy your stay, and I wish you happy editing! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:54, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Question about edit reverted

Hi Oshwah, I am currently at an edit-a-thon at UIUC. OOKbook is a participant and I was showing this new user Talk page protocol -- making sure the comment pings the user, proper signature, etc. Is it preferred that a response to a Talk page comment go on that user's Talk page instead? Vaparedes (talk) 19:23, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Vaparedes! Thanks for letting me know! I reverted your changes to OOKbook's talk page because you modified a comment that OOKbook made, which is typically not allowed and will be reverted (since other editors won't know about your involvement in the Wikipedia Meetup). However, since your objective was simply to give the user an in-person tutorial over talk pages, I personally don't see any problem with it. It would be a better idea to show this person a tutorial by either adding a new message to his/her talk page, or editing a talk page message that you left. This way, it won't result in reversions or confusion by other editors that are patrolling. If you have any more questions, or if you need any help, please do not hesitate to respond and ask. I'll be more than happy to lend you a hand! Good luck at the Meetup! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:29, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information on 71.179.21.197

Hello Oshwah! I was suspicious of 71.179.21.197, and so looked up his IP. The result is here: http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/71.179.21.197 This indicates that the user is based in Ellicott City, MD. I then looked up Timothy Parker, and found this: http://www.whitepages.com/name/Timothy-E-Parker-Jr./Ellicott-City-MD/i7zf4j1, which is very likely the Timothy Parker from this article, as it shares the age, city, and middle initial of the Tim Parker in the article. Since the White Pages link provided the address, I looked to see exactly how close the IP was to his address. Quite close, imo: http://www.latlong.net/convert-address-to-lat-long.html

I don't know if any of this is helpful in making any decisions, but it does seem very likely that Tim Parker used both a registered account to edit his own page, and then used an unregistered one when he was caught.

help with Lenka Clayton page

I started a draft for Lenka Clayton today, Mar 5, the same day as another page on her was started, which you flagged. Anyway to get my draft moved to article and the other flagged page deleted? Or at least to get the info combined and improved? thank you Lu.heintz (talk) 21:31, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lu.heintz, and thanks for leaving me a message with your questions. I see two pages right now: One is Lenka Clayton, which will be deleted because the creator copied text straight from external sources (which is a big violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy). The other is your draft. As soon as the "non-drafted" article is deleted, your draft can replace the previous article in its place (once it has been reviewed and accepted). For now, you just need to sit tight; someone will resolve the matters and your article will be reviewed. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Heyy Oshwah! I'm a new user coming in from a bureaucrat in a game wiki, trying to revert vandalism when I can. I was intrigued by a user editing the UFC 196 page. Could you please double check the edits by usernames with long random gibberish are checked? Sometimes I see they are funny.

I've been checking Recent Changes to see what goes on behind the scenes in Wikipedia. That's some active stuff going on there :). Thanks for helping keep Wikipedia credible for me with my schoolwork.

a small request

I see that you already templated this IP user. Could you please keep an eye on their contribs? They're making multiple non-useful edits that create work for others. They have multiple recent warnings, including level 4 and 4+. They're been templated for not (make that never) leaving edit summaries or using the preview function, yet still continue to edit doing neither. Multiple attempts to talk to them on their talk page have been ignored. Some edits are helpful, many aren't. There is WP:CIR issue here. Thanks - theWOLFchild 12:44, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

modification of 2002 National Football League (Ireland)

Hello Oshwah,

I received a message from you regarding an update I made to the page "2002 National Football League (Ireland)". In the message, you indicated that my changes were not accompanied by an edit summary.

The changes I made were in fact accompanied by an edit summary which explains the changes made.

Thanks,

Tinahinse (talk) 14:56, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Tinahinse! I apologize for the confusion. I realized that you didn't remove anything (I thought you had removed the article infobox); you simply collapsed it. I restored your edit to the article as it was when you made the change. Please let me know if you need anything else :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:18, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I made two edits to that and left the reason for editing it in my first edit, the reason is that, laogai has been abolished since 2015 thus only the number of population being present in prisons are taken into account. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Htzh (talkcontribs) 19:04, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

Hi!

Some users from 4chan are raiding the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johan_Andersson_(game_programmer) page. It's better to lock the article to stop edit wars. Watch out for other paradox pages too. Podcat (talk) 20:58, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

underground gas

Hello. Early last century, many Midwest communities manufactured glass, making use of regional natural gas. Do some of these pockets of gas still exist? 166.175.185.30 (talk) 21:29, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello OSWAH, from Portugal,

my edit, which you reverted, consisted of removing a storyline which consisted of repeating the infobox in a text, in broken English and with ZERO refs. WP is all about references, is it not? I have been here for almost ten years, so I think I was operating within the guidelines there.

Maybe my summary was a bit over the top and that misled you? Could be, and for that I apologize to the community overall. Attentively, happy editing --84.90.219.128 (talk) 22:01, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Over hasty speedy delete nomination

Follow me to join the secret cabal!

Plip!

Hi, you nominated Sofia stella feldstein for speedy delete. However that was only 1 minute after creation. You should give the writer a chance, say around 1 hour to get in a claim of importance, and some references. They may now be frightened off. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:48, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Graeme Bartlett - AWW, CRAP!!!! That was done by accident!! Sorry!!! I didn't mean to tag this article. Thanks for catching this :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 05:09, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Also, a trout would have been completely acceptable in this situation ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 05:10, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The article may have deserved a speedy delete, after waiting, but hopefully a blp prod will have the same outcome, either stimulate the writer to indicate notability, or it will get the chop. Numerous other SD taggers are getting in too fast too. There is a lot of over-enthusiasm around. I am trying out the different sized fish. I don't think it deserves a full sized trout! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 06:11, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Graeme Bartlett - I completely agree; I usually wait at least 15 minutes after the article's creation before considering any claim of significance CSD tag. It's the right thing to do, as "racing to be the first person to CSD that article" is absolutely a BITE to newcomers, and it's not what CSD was meant for. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:23, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Recent revisions to the Henryk Fuchsbrunner article

Hey there, I got your message about the reversion of my revisions to the Henryk Tauber/Fuchsbrunner article. My goal with the edits was cleaning up the grammar, improving the clarity of the article and reducing redundancy. For one example, he's referred to by three different last names in the article - Tauber (his birth name), Fuchsbrunner (the name he was most often known by), and Fuchs (the changed spelling of his name once he immigrated to the U.S.). I just changed all of the references to Fuchsbrunner for clarity. The last paragraph I deleted contained all material that was either unverifiable or contained in earlier paragraphs already, and the rest of the edits were just to make the writing grammatically correct. Of course, it doesn't bother me if the reversion stands. 98.203.240.70 (talk) 07:16, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

On reverted comment at Talk:Clang

Hi Oshwah, you messaged me about removing my talkpage comment here.

Thank you for keeping Wikipedia talk space clean and moderated!

While we're at it, could you also clean up the whole Talk:Clang#Compatibility_with_C.2C_compile_Unice_Softwares.2C_and_use_of_Brand_Name section? I admit that my comment was not particularly constructive, but the section it addressed is well beyond any sane reason.

If not, then I wonder how exactly you discriminate one unconstructive comment from another (and delete one, but leave the other), because that doesn't seem like a neutral way of moderation.

Best wishes, anonymous — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.90.177.150 (talkcontribs)

Regarding The Asterisk War's premise I found on the Crunchyroll site, I found its premise to be more accurate (coming from what I watched of the show):

Invertia (meteor storm)… an unprecedented disaster that struck the world during the 20th century.

Because of this disaster, numerous cities around the world were destroyed. However, within the meteor, an unknown element called mana (the all-encompassing element), was discovered, which allowed human technology to make rapid strides.

This also gave rise to a new species of human born with unique skills – the Star Pulse Generation (Genestella).

The setting for the world’s greatest comprehensive battle spectacle, the Festas (Star Warrior Festivals), is an academy city above the water surrounded by six academies called Rikka also commonly known as Asterisk. Having transferred into Seidoukan Academy in order to fulfill his own wish, scholarship student Ayato Amagiri swears he too will fight in this city.

Burning souls race…

The curtain rises on this school battle spectacle! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.5.114.106 (talk) 12:58, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Libyan Investment Authority

Hello.

Thank you for taking an interest in Libyan Investment Authority. All edits made by me were in a good faith, not in favour of any party as they represent current, ongoing situation - leadership dispute between Abdulmagid Breish and Hassan Bouhadi. They both claim chairmanship and until Court ruling is available (which is supposed to be in two weeks time) this information should be available not to mislead readers.

The following articles (used as references) clearly represents this neutral point of view:

It doesn't matter. You're engaging in edit warring by continuously reverting content back-and-fourth with another user (See Wikipedia's three-revert rule). These policies exist in order to drive discussion. Edit warring can (and usually will) result in being blocked from editing. Please discuss the content dispute on the article's talk page with the other user. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 13:47, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A note about Ostriches

Dear sir,

I am from Uzbekistan and know that it is generally considered an ill omen to eat ostrich, as some consider it black magic over there. Now, when I came to America, I noticed that ostrich is not only eaten in some restaurants, but eaten as a exquisite meat, such as restaurants swerving Ostrich burgers. Unsurprisingly, this was a strange and disorienting experience for me, but opened my eyes to the world around me as to how cultures appear different in other people's eyes. I find it confusing as to why you reverted this edit. I noted you said I needed a citation? I understand the need, I suppose, but as a person who has lived there for a good amount of his life, isn't a first person account a detailed enough response? It works well enough for stories of Junius Caesar, and I note he is present on this online center of information. I ask you to please allow this note to remain present on this page which I am quite found of. Thank you, and have a great day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spencertmiller (talkcontribs) 14:12, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

Thanks for your contributions to vandal-fighting. You are doing a very good job. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 15:10, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, JamesBWatson! It's good to talk to you again! Thank you for taking the time to leave me a message, and for your kind words. I very much appreciate it. I've been vandal-fighting for 8+ years; it's something I enjoy doing, although it really skews my contribution namespace distribution percentages - edit tools show that I mostly edit article space and user talk space, but it's because I revert a lot of vandalism. So, of course, it's going to. Oh well; I like doing it. Someone's gotta do it ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:28, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
"Someone's gotta do it": absolutely. It's an area of Wikipedia work that doesn't always get the recognition that it deserves, but it is absolutely vital. Without it, Wikipedia would gradually become a useless load of junk that nobody would consult. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 15:32, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
JamesBWatson - Indeed! I absolutely agree. I'm still considering re-applying for RFA this year (although I'm not sure exactly when this year I should), so that I can be more useful with vandal-fighting and contributing to AIV (among other reasons, of course). I got slammed last time for no content creation (which I've definitely improved - hopefully enough to where it doesn't become an issue again). I just don't want to run again "too soon". I don't know; I'd just hate to fail a second time. :-P ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:45, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion, the "can't be an admin because he/she hasn't created dozens of articles" gang are probably the single worst harmful thing in RfA, but they are sufficient in numbers to have a considerable impact. I almost declined the invitation to stand at RfA because I thought I would be shot right down by the "not enough content creation" gang, but as it turned out I was lucky: I got through with far less article creation in my history than many an RfA candidate who has been rejected for lack of article creation. I suppose to some extent it's the luck of the draw, depending on who comes along to the RfA. Anyway, you now have more article creation in your history than I had at the time of my RfA, so it shouldn't be a bar to success. Also, in my RfA I attempted to anticipate possible criticism for lack of article content by detailing contributions where I had substantially rewritten existing articles from scratch. I felt (and still feel) that doing so is just as much experience of content creation as any articles listed as created by me. If you are interested in seeing what I wrote, it is under the heading "Additional optional question from Peter". I don't know whether there's anything similar you could usefully say if you do go for another RfA. I don't think the lack of content creation argument should be a major consideration at present, and personally I would attach far more weight to some of the other reasons for opposing at your RfA, such as Dennis Brown's very thoughtful comments on various issues, particularly that most of your editing had taken place within three months (which is no longer true), and the criticisms of your original answer to question 9. I would say that the substantial majority of opposes were for reasons which either no longer apply, or apply to a much lesser extent than they did then.
You say "I'd just hate to fail a second time". I can well understand that. Do you know, even though I was accepted with over 90% support, I felt really stressed by the opposes: it's an intimidating experience, having a string of people one after another publicly posting heavy criticism of what they seeing as your weaknesses and faults, and indicating that they don't trust you to do a good job. And if I felt that in an RfA which succeeded, I can well imagine that it must be even more unpleasant to undergo an RfA which fails. However, please bear in mind the following two facts: (1) you got considerably more supports than opposes, and (2) for the sorts of reasons I have mentioned, you should stand a much better chance a second time. However, I suggest waiting at least until July, which will be a year after you became significantly active on Wikipedia, and it might be safer to wait at least until September, when a year has gone since your last try. I think once things are measured in units of years, even just one year, rather than months, the "too soon" feeling is likely to be much less.
Just one more thing. It may help your chances at a second RfA if you get more experience on the various Wikipedia-space pages that concern admin work. You have large numbers of good AIV reports (which is how I came to start this talk page section) but a much more limited amount of experience in other admin areas. I don't personally think that there is such a lack of relevant experience that it should count against you, but some editors may think it does. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 17:12, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
JamesBWatson - I really appreciate your in-depth response and your honest opinion. Thank you :-). I agree that waiting until at least July is a good idea. I was originally thinking about waiting until September (one year after my first RfA). By then, I should have another article brought up to GA status (I'm working with a small group of editors that want to knock out a few GA's as I do), and I'll have a solid editing history that everyone will want to see. I'll also consider getting involved in more admin areas, as you lightly suggested as well. Cool, in a nutshell: I'll keep doing what I'm doing and wait a few more months. Running for admin isn't anything I'm rushing at all; It's not that big of a deal to me. I'm and admin on test.wiki, so I know how everything works. It's really just a few more buttons, that's all. Would I make a good admin? I think that I would. Do I need / would I make good use of the tools? Oh yeah, you bet. I'd be much more useful with them. But I can certainly wait. Thanks again, JamesBWatson. Much, much appreciated! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:34, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think JBW is giving good advice, and I agree with you that September is best, a year after your first. I haven't looked at your stats today, so can't speak to them, but would just say that working on a few articles in a significant way is helpful. Not a GA, just taking something you know and improving it greatly, and doing that a few times. You can't please those that want you have to 100 articles created, but those are rare souls. Most of us just want examples showing you can create or recreate something worth reading. If you have the power to protect, delete or block, you have to know the core reason we are here; prose. A good place to do that is AFD, actually, just go patrolling until you see something that you can save because it was nominated too early. Those are excellent examples of leadership and what we like to see in candidates. Have a few hundred AFDs behind you, if you haven't already. AFD is an understaffed and under appreciated place full of opportunity for someone wanting to make a difference. NAC is ok but not impressive, saving articles and giving very good rationales (keep or delete) is. Do all that and there will plenty of people willing to nominate you, including myself and I would imagine JBW. Dennis Brown - 19:54, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've just seen your answer to a request for help at User talk:2.126.55.14. It looks to me as though you may have missed the point of the question. If I understood it correctly, the question was about the possibility of creating an article on a new topic, which the IP editor compared to Godwin's law, but you appeared to take it as a question about creating an article about Godwin's law itself. Vandal

IP 81.158.35.138 has a mess on his talk page of warnings and denied block requests. He is back, and is now typing bad words on his talk page. I don't know how to deal with him. So, I took a look at 81.158.35.138's talk page, and I removed the incivility left while the IP was blocked. The IP has vandalized since the block expired; I'd just continue as you normally do, and report the IP back to AIV if it continues, so a longer block can be placed. Hi. Part of a group project for class at Pomona College to make a page for Ian Thomas Malone. Can you help us to bring the page up to wiki standards? Really need to get a good grade on this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Galacticbinks42 (talkcontribs) 18:42, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Galacticbinks42 - If this a required class assignment, then that's unfortunate and you need to speak to the person who assigned you this article. The person does not appear to meet Wikipedia's general notability guidelines, nor does it appear to meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines regarding people. This isn't anything that you can fix within your article; your article is not the main issue in regards to the deletion discussion. It's whether or not the person meets these guidelines after performing research and source searching. Your best option is to pick another article subject to write about, in my honest opinion. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:26, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

leggomygreggo8 - You may not be allowed to use the Saints logo per the fair use image guidelines. Other than that, seems to look good to me! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:22, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Leggomygreggo8: The images is PD, so it should be fine. This might be better off as a subproject of WP:NFL, like WP:STEELERS. I suggest starting a discussion at WT:NFL. Hi Oshwah. — JJMC89(T·C) 22:00, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And hello back to you, JJMC89! Thanks for stepping in and providing leggomygreggo8 with help, and for correcting me on my thoughts regarding the image. It's always appreciated! Hope you're doing well! Happy editing, my friend! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 22:09, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. HAHAHAHA!!! Liz - I think you added this by a mistake :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 02:42, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well, no, I was serious because you were party to an edit war. But as the other editor has been indefinitely blocked, it seems like these reverts were warranted. Liz Read! Talk! 02:43, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
