Kid vs Kat Season 2 Episodes

Hello there Airplaneman, I just wanted to know if the episodes listed on Season 2 are credible? The reason why is because I am part of the Administration of Kid vs Kat Wikia, a fansite dedicated to the show Kid vs Kat. We are always looking for information on what the new episodes will be like or when they will air. Your Wikipedia Team seems to be "on the ball" with Season 2, however, I know that anyone can edit Wikipedia; so I'm just asking: are these episodes credible or is someone just editing random episodes? This would be very helpful to Kid vs Kat Wikia and I would appreciate it if you could give me the answers ASAP.

If you want proof that I'm an Admin on KvK Wikia, let me know; I'll be happy to verify.

--HugeKidvsKatFan (talk) 17:03, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I don't need proof of your being an administrator, or anything, for the matter, as I don't believe it makes a difference - it's great you want to help do something special. Our team here seems to be doing a good job overall, as the encyclopedia is chugging along steadily as a whole in my opinion, but the article is far from finished. As of now, the page needs some work. The episode list was apparently found at TV.com, the only reference in the entry. I guess the TV guide link is what you need to look at and evaluate; that's where our team got the information from. I wouldn't do any major research using this article in its current state, although it is great for background reading. And yes, anyone can edit Wikipedia. Anyone who does is part of our team. So hey, you're part of the team as well :D. So I'm not sure if the episodes are credible or if they are some editing random episodes. However, I can tell you that the TV guide reference looks OK for usage, although it should not be the sole source. You should always look for multiple sources (that are reliable, of course). I hope this helps a bit; if you still have questions, just ask. Happy editing, Airplaneman 22:43, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Help editing mediation cabal

re:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_I_of_England

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal#Submit_a_request

I am attempting to add a new entry in med cabal and cannot save the new entry as it seems protected I get:

The page title or edit you have tried to create has been restricted to administrators at this time. It matches an entry on the local or global blacklists, which is usually used to prevent vandalism.

Could I kindly ask you to make the entry for me please?

My collaboration with two editors isn't working out over their creation of two entries in two articles, the entry is 'sexuality', which I believe is an instrument to promote and broadcast intolerance, best wiki practice suggests that sexuality like criticism is worked into the main body of the article yet these two editors wish to create a specific entry while all other wiki entries on sexuality covering historical figures are written into the main body. They are the only two wiki articles on wikipedia's historical figures that have 'sexuality' entries and it seems bizarre.. Many thanks.Twobells (talk) 15:08, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nastel

Hi Airplaneman,

Not too long ago you approved the page I did on Nastel. However, another reviewer came along and said the article was spam and it was marked for deletion. Can you help with this?

Thanks,

charley — Preceding unsigned comment added by Charleyrich (talkcontribs) 22:28, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker)Hi Charley. I'm one of Airplaneman's talk page stalkers, who help him answer questions (sometimes before he does!). Anyways, your article hasn't been tagged for deletion. Rather, it's just been tagged as reading like an advertisement. It isn't blatant advertisement, so it won't be speedy deleted, but the tag indicates that work should be done to make it seem less like an advertisement. Brambleclawx 22:54, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you please advise what needs to be changed? I looked at other firms that compete with Nastel and modeled the article after those. So, I am a bit unclear why this one is more like an advertisement and the others are not. For example see the article on OpTier. I am happy to make updates, but I need some guidance. Charleyrich (talk) 23:10, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Charley, sorry for the delayed response. OpTier's article has the same issue, actually - it's representation of the firm seems a bit unilateral and slanted towards presenting the company in a positive light (see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS). It would be better to base the article off articles that are higher in quality than that. Take, for example, the featured article on the company Microsoft. Since you posted here, you've gone in the right direction with the article :). Airplaneman 02:33, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

proposed deletion of article

Hi, Airplaneman! I think there are valid grounds for asking for what is essentially a dictionary entry on WP to be deleted. I've proposed this on Belling the cat's discussion page and, since you were originally involved in turning down a decision to merge it with The Bell and the Cat, I'm drawing your attention to this now. Mzilikazi1939 (talk) 18:39, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for managing the redirect of the old article to its new home. That was very quick! Shouldn't the original discussion on merger ALSO appear on the discussion page for Belling the cat? Mzilikazi1939 (talk) 15:42, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No problem :). I think you're right about the discussion also appearing on the discussion page for Belling the cat, now that I think about it... just make sure to move the whole thing and note its original location. And thanks for catching this! Airplaneman 15:45, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Happy 10th!

Request to close a merger discussion

Hi Airplaneman,

Over at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Automobiles#Honda Civic Hybrid there is a disagreement over what defines a consensus. In short there are four opposing votes and nine supporting votes. That's twice as many in favour plus one more, or 70 percent in favour of the merge. As the only administrator I know outside of Wikipedia:WikiProject Automobiles (I GA reviewed your MacBook Pro nomination last year) your input would be much appreciated in the closing of the discussion. I apologize for not responding earlier. I see that this has become a bigger dispute and am currently aware of discussions at the place you linked and at AN/I. I'm not yet prepared to close this, but I am keeping an eye on how this discussion progresses. Best, Airplaneman 02:17, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

High Pressure Sodium Lighting

Hello:

I noticed you contributed to the article about high pressure sodium lighting. I've got a high pressure sodium fixture that came with a 50 watt light bulb. I need to purchase a new bulb and am wondering can I use a 35 watt bulb in the fixture or must I stick with the 50 watt bulb?

Archiving

You might wanna get a bot in to do that. I use MiszaBot, feel free to steal the code from the top of my talk page, though you'll probably want to change the timer, since I have to have everything older than 36 hours archived! To put it in perspective, that's more frequent than WP:AN! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 05:06, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note, HJ :). I've considered it, but the bots don't have exactly what I want in their archiving options. I'm one of those finicky people who like to keep threads open until they feel they're dead, not until they reach an arbitrarily set time that then marks them for archiving. I will keep this as an option, though, should I ever change my mind. Cheers, Airplaneman 19:04, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted Artivle: Media Promotions and Publishing

Hi Airplaneman

You have just deleted an article on Media Promotions and Publishing which I had rewrote to replace Expansive Media Ltd which had been live on wikipedia for more than two years. I'm new to all of this so could you kindly explian what the issues are please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juemason (talkcontribs) 19:06, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Juemason,
I deleted the page because it was tagged for deletion as blatant advertising. I found the claim to be true, so I proceeded with the deletion. In addition, the subject of the article did not appear to meet the notability guidelines for companies and organizations, which also influenced my decision to delete the page. I don't see an article on Expansive Media Ltd. or Expansive Media Ltd anywhere; could you please direct me to it? If it's a replacement, I can move the article to a new name for you. Airplaneman 19:12, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Many Thanks for the reply. As stated, I'm new to Wikipedia and must confess to not fully understanding protocols etc so apologies for any dense comments. The Expansive Media page was online for a couple of years but was deleted in October 2010 around the time that the company changed its name to 'Media Promotions'. No one connected to the company created the original 'Expansive Media' article on Wikipedia but I updated the company name, project names etc to amend a few factual errors as my husband works for the company. Maybe that's been the reason for the deletions - yikes.

The Expansive Media article was originally linked to a number of pages such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bee_Movie_Game because the company is known in the UK for producing promotions that are linked to both major film releases, and major newspapers and magazines. They are newsworthy in the UK because of the sheer number of readers that their newspaper promotions reach - more than 50 million tabloid readers a year. The original Wiki article is still visible online at links such as http://www.ask.com/wiki/Expansive_Media

Is there a process of submitting the article to a more qualified and experienced administrator for consideration? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juemason (talkcontribs) 19:34, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Expansive Media explains why the article no longer exists, and the same applies for the Media Promotions and Publishing article. The fact that your husband works for the company does present a conflict of interest, but that's not the reason the page was deleted (I didn't know your husband worked for the company until about 10 seconds ago :D). You do present a claim of notability, and if you would like, you can head over to Articles For Creation and submit your draft there. There's no guarantee that an administrator (let alone one more "qualified and experienced" than I am—although there are plenty out there who are!) will review the submission, however, as all editors are invited to help with reviewing. I'm sorry about complicating matters by deleting the page in the first place; I recently created a page at User:Airplaneman/Speedy (the text largely taken from a nearly identical page by a fellow editor) that attempts to explain the motivations behind my page deletions. It's nothing personal; I promise. When I first contributed to the encyclopedia, I had two pages deleted, with at least one being erased under the same reason that I deleted yours (advertising). I hope this helps, Airplaneman 19:46, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks again for the reply and guidance. When I asked "Is there a process of submitting the article to a more qualified and experienced administrator for consideration" I meant more qualified than ME and was in no way intending to refer to you. I apologise for any misinterpretation. thanks again. Julie. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juemason (talkcontribs) 19:58, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Online Ambassadors

Hey, you've always been helpful in developing content. Would you be interested in helping with the WP:Online_Ambassadors program? We're currently looking to expand our ranks to support about 500 university students this term, so are looking for any help we can get. I hope you apply to become an ambassador. BTW, I don't know if you saw our monthly collaboration at Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Collaboration, we could use a couple more editors to do some content development, Sadads (talk) 02:54, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Sadads, it's good to hear from you :). I've been seriously considering becoming an ambassador, but I'm concerned about the time commitment. I haven't been consistently available for the past few months and don't see much more regular free time opening up in my schedule for the next few months (I had exams this past week so I don't have any work this weekend, which explains my burst of activity). I'd love to do it, though; it's a great initiative. As for the collab, I'll take a look! Airplaneman 03:01, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You could limit the number of students that you take on (even 2 is a lot of help for us this term), and really the only time you need to ensure is that you are responsive to things as they pop up on your watchlist/students ask for help (think within 24-48 hours) and you check in on the student's contributions at least once a week. I hope you don't put Wikipedia before real life though, so don't worry, and I hope this collaboration gets Novels back off the ground. It's really the credit of maclean in doing it though. Anyway, I thought you were already in the workforce, what are you taking a course on? Sadads (talk) 05:30, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I wrote to him because I need to finish my article but he doesn't respond at all, which is a bit strange. Billim1

Dear Airplaneman, i'm Billim1. I noticed you deleted the article that I started on, KXI96 (NOAA Weather Radio Station KXI96). Can you please undo that? There are articles on different NOAA Weather Radio Stations from the United States. Where i'm from, there's WXJ55, KXI91, etc.. They have there own. But there is no article about KXI96, which is another station in my local area. So, I was thinking about starting it so it can be approved on, but it was taken down. Overall like I said, can you please undo that? I have a very good legitamite reason why I created it. PLEASE RESPOND BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, THANK YOU. Signed, Billim1.

P.S.: Can you people give me a break, I'm still new to all this. Don't make it hard on me! Thank you. Signed once again by Billim1.

LOL I'll try. I deleted the article because someone tagged it for deletion under WP:A7, which covers articles not claiming notability. The other radio station articles are probably of marginal notability as well. I'll tell you what: I will restore it to User:Billim1/KXI96 so you can work on it. I'll try and help :). I can't guarantee that it will survive in the mainspace, but let's try! You will need reliable sources to back up the facts presented in the article, especially the facts that assert the notability of the subject. We'll go from there. I know this is a lot to process (my first two articles were deleted as well!) so ask any additional questions you may have, and I'll try my best to answer them. Wikipedia:Your first article is a good thing to read. Also, take a look at User:Airplaneman/Speedy if you haven't yet. Regards, Airplaneman 23:18, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Andy Gray

Hi Airplaneman

You've protected http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Gray_(footballer_born_1955)

I want to insert the fact Gray had started legal proceedings against the News of the World in relation to breaches of his privacy. Here's the Guardian source (http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/jan/18/news-world-andy-gray-password) and it's on the BBC as well.

His former employer, Sky, is 39% owned by News Corporation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_Corporation). News Corporation owns 100% of News International (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_International) which publishes the News of the World.

I make no claim that Gray's suing of the News of the World is linked with his sacking, but feel that the above is a relevant biographical detail.

Tripswitch speedy deletion

Hi Airplaneman, as you can see I've made relatively few contributions to wikipedia but I have to admit to being a bit stunned by seeing the article I started on Tripswitch deleted within hours of me spending my valuable time preparing it.

I don't really understand the criteria that have been applied for speedy deletion. If you perform a wiki search for Tripswitch, you will find that this musician is mentioned in at least nine other legitimate articles. He is widely considered to be amongst the best producers in this genre of music which explains the exceptionally high average reviewer rating at http://www.discogs.com/Tripswitch-Circuit-Breaker/master/278838. He has received attention in the music press and I linked a review by none other than Anoushka Shankar in the New York Times. For a niche electronic musician to appear in the NY Times seems notable in itself.

I freely admit that this is not mainstream music. You may not know, for example, that Anoushka Shankar is Ravi Shankar's daughter, Nora Jones' half-sister and has produced music with the likes of Sting... but that hardly matters. Surely the purpose of wikipedia is that I do know these things and can share them with others, just as you can share your knowledge and enthusiasm wherever it may be directed.

Thanks for listening,

bomble — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bomble (talkcontribs) 21:41, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bomble, thanks for posting :). The article was higher quality than nearly all of the ones I've deleted while patrolling C:SD. In hindsight, I do not believe it was right for me to delete it, as it claimed notabilty; therefore, the tag would have been rendered irrelevant. I've moved the article to User:Bomble/Tripswitch so you can work on it in peace; I will also help. There are things we can work on, though. Namely, could you find a few more (reliable) references for the page? In addition, references are ideally placed within the article next to the facts they cite for a more precise method sourcing. It can be confusing at first, so if you want, tell me where you need to cite a particular source and I'll help you place it. I'm confident that, once we work on a few things, this page can make it out in the mainspace; there are certainly articles in worse condition than this sitting around the 'pedia. Cheers, Airplaneman 06:56, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Airplaneman... I am travelling at the moment but will be in touch with you for your valuable assistance in preparing this article once I'm back in steady contact with the web! Deleted Article: Florian Hutter

Hello Airplaneman, This was my first article, and I spent a lot of time learning how to enter the information and resources, and I felt proud that I was able to create the article. I am sorry that my article on Florian Hutter was deleted. I am having trouble understanding all of the guidelines and I think I need some help. Hello again Airplaneman,
I hope that I am writing correctly here.
As an administrator, can you userfy the page "Florian Hutter" for me and email a copy to me?
Thanks again!
Mark Bruno 18:54, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello Mark. I apologize for not responding more quickly. I will certainly email you a copy; in addition, you can find the article at User:MarkBruno/Florian Hutter. I find that spitting out a bunch of policies in your face while trying to advise you on how to write the best article possible and help it survive is both tedious for me and overwhelming for someone new to this site. Therefore, I will userfy it for you and we can improve it together. I'll try to point you in the right direction while helping you edit the article and answer your questions. I'm busy in real life and actually a bit stressed too, so Wikipedia isn't my priority right now (nor is it ever :p – I just have more time for this place sometimes than other times); however, I'll try to respond in a timely manner. Happy editing, Airplaneman 21:35, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK, Thanks! No apology necessary! and - thanks for userfying the page and thanks for the email!

Unable to make changes to an existing article

I would like to make some changes to the Wikipedia article on the drug Naltrexone. I feel these changes are necessary because Naltrexone, which was formerly for the management of alcohol dependency alone, has now been approved for the treatment of opiate addiction. So I would like to add a full section on its new, broader uses in addition to some other minor changes. However, I am unable to edit the article text. The article does not seem to be protected so I'm puzzled. I'm guessing there's something that I'm not aware of. Can you please advise me on how I should proceed? If you would like to see my proposed changes, just let me know. Thanks!Michael Leeman (talk) 14:10, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm... I was able to edit as an IP and as a sysop, so I'm not encountering the problem you had. It's puzzling, and I think there's something about the article that I don't know as well. Try purging your cache or restarting your browser/using a different one. If that doesn't work, you can just give me the text and I'll insert it on your behalf. Airplaneman 15:35, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much! I'll try your suggestions above and get back to you if I encounter further problems.Michael Leeman (talk) 17:41, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for your suggestion! I restarted my browser and was able to edit the Naltrexone article. Can you please look it over and let me know if it looks okay? The main thing I changed was to exand "Opiate Addiction" and make it its own section (rather than a sub-section of "Other Uses") since Naltrexone is now approved for treatment of opiate addiction. (I also removed some info from the "Alcohol dependence" section as there was no source for it and I believe it to be incorrect.) Thanks. By the way, it was extremely nice of you to offer to insert the text for me. I greatly appreciate it!Michael Leeman (talk) 21:20, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome; I'm glad it worked! Your changes look good and they contribute positively to the article, so no complaints there ;). Airplaneman 06:40, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much! I am very grateful for all your help!Michael Leeman (talk) 20:55, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Another template

I'm having a problem with yet another template. (Template:Infobox NASCAR race) The image part is showing up like it is there, when theres not an image. (Review: Atlanta 500) Do you know how to fix this? --Nascar1996 21:30, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think I figured out the problem: you have the "includeonly" around the logo template, but you don't have a function that hides the coding from showing up when there's no logo displayed. Because the template is deployed in so many areas, I don't want to mess with it. However, I will ask someone more familiar with template coding to take a look to see if they can devise a permanent solution. Airplaneman 06:32, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you are correct. I fixed it, with the added bonus that it won't try to show logos that don't exist. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 08:23, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Topic deletion

Morning Airplaneman.

I must apologise. I did not realise when starting a new topic to write about that I had saved it to go live. In my haste to log off my pc I thought I had saved the work so I could come back to it later not actually posted it up.

Am I free to start the same topic again? Thank you, TWBPL. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Twbpl (talkcontribs) 08:17, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello TWBPL; no need to apologize - if anything, I should apologize for responding so late. I deleted the article because it was tagged under WP:A7, which says that the article didn't assert notability. What we can do is I'll restore it to User:Twbpl/Tyne and wear bus preservation group where you can work on finding plenty of reliable sources to prove that the topic has significant coverage/notability; I can help you with formatting, complicated policies, and whatnot. However, I must warn you that if the subject does not meet the notability guideline, it may be listed for deletion again regardless of what we do. I know it's frustrating; it's happened to me before. However, if you would like, we can proceed! How does that sound? Airplaneman 06:36, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone help me, please?

Thank you very much, Airplaneman! I emailed DESiegel as you suggested but no response at all as yet. Could you please help me finish my page instead? And if not could you suggest someone to help me, please? Thanks a lot for your help Magiko (talk) 16:10, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2011 January newsletter

We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. Signups are now closed, and we have 129 listed competitors, 64 of whom will make it to round two. Congratulations to The Bushranger (submissions), who, at the time of writing, has a comfortable lead with 228 points, followed by Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions), with 144 points. Four others have over 100 points. Congratulations also go to Greece Yellow Evan (submissions), who scored the first points in the competition, claiming for Talk:Hurricane King/GA1, Principality of Sealand Miyagawa (submissions), who scored the first non-review points in the competition, claiming for Dognapping, and United Kingdom Jarry1250 (submissions) who was the first in the competition to use our new "multiplier" mechanic (explanation), claiming for Grigory Potemkin, a subject covered on numerous Wikipedias. Thanks must also go to Jarry1250 for dealing with all bot work- without you, the competition wouldn't be happening!

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round two is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Template 4 at TFD

I'm not sure why this is being continuously relisted. I see no serious delete votes, and several keep votes, with most recommending expansion of the practice to the other single digit templates. Is there something I am missing in the discussion? Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 06:56, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, there might be something that I am missing. I couldn't determine consensus after watching it (albeit not closely) for a while. However, after a closer read, I do indeed concur that there aren't any serious delete votes and two strong arguments for keeping this template. Undoing this relist is a possibilty, and I'm tempted to do that to fix my sloppy work—unless there's some policy/guideline that I'm not aware of that discourages this. Thanks for bringing this up, Airplaneman 07:10, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And it has been relisted again. Please just close it and put it out of its misery. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 02:53, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Being Born Again Couture Fashion Show article

Hi Airplaneman,

Thank you for your comments. In http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Art_School, it "is written like an advertisement" according to administrator "Unt123" in "May 2009" and it was not taken down since. I would like to request that my article be put up again - I shall edit out all the advertising jargon. Where is it please? What could I do to improve the quality of the wikipedia article as well? Thank you. 14.200.69.191 (talk) 14:06, 2 February 2011 (UTC)Domenico.y[reply]

Hi Domenico; may you please point me to the comments I made? As for the National Art School article, here are the edits that Unt123 (talk · contribs) made. They aren't an administrator, having made three edits total. Instead, another user tagged the article here in May 2009. It indeed reads like an advertisement. Phrases such as "With a prestigious alumni and diverse history" should be weeded out. Furthermore, the article isn't referenced. Those are needed to back up the information presented. #5 at WP:NOTADVERTISING explains in detail how the article should be rewritten. Regards, Airplaneman 17:07, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - I didn't explain myself clearly, I apologise for that. In http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Being_Born_Again_Couture_Fashion_Show, you deleted it because of "(G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion)". I would like to request that the "Being Born Again Couture" Wikipedia page article be put up again and I shall edit it again to remove all advertising jargon out of it. The "Being Born Again Couture" page is referenced correctly, in my opinion - what do you think of the references? Any tips as to how I improve the article please? Your help would be appreciated. Thank you very much, 14.200.69.191 (talk) 15:27, 3 February 2011 (UTC)Domenico.y[reply]

An Issue With the Article on Hamburger

Beginning the 18th-19th Century segment, there is this statement: "In the late 18th century, the largest ports in Europe were in Germany." I do not believe this statement is accurate. In the late 1700s and early 1800s, England, at least to my knowledge, was the most powerful navy in the world. At the time, it was engaged mainly in war with France. Also, in the early 1800s, England opposed Napoleon, and Germany was under the power of Napoleon, then. I do not see how Hamburg, etc., could be called a largest port in Europe at the time, for England would surely have blockaded it, esp., re: Napoleon & France. There is no mention of German ports in the reading I have done re: the British Royal Navy of the time. England was more concerned about blockading the French ports of Brest, Toulon, etc.

If the article meant "late 19th Century," then fine. But, I think the statement, as it stands, is inaccurate. This may be a very minor point in the article, but it does betray a certain inaccuracy of history, which many people gloss over and is a reason for much of current world problems, due to ignorance of or ignoring of, history.

Page protection for Georgians

Thank you for fulfilling my protection request but it appears that instead of semi-protection for 6 months, you placed a full protection. It will be nice if you could correct that. Thanks --ComtesseDeMingrélie 02:15, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks; fixed. Airplaneman 02:34, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for setting the semi-protection on the page. Do you think you could reset the protection reason to "Persistent addition of non-notable artists"? The addition of the redlinked/wrong-linked artists are in good faith, so are really not vandalism. Thanks. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:59, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's the problem. I'm convinced that more than half the aircraft mentioned at WP:WikiProject Aircraft/Missing articles aren't even notable. Using Google books doesn't give me enough to make it DYK-able. Oh well. The main issue is that most of those listed there are prototypes that they only built, like, 3 models of. Public Policy questions and suggestions

Hello Airplaneman,

I was wondering if you could help me decide, or give me any feedback, on some articles that I'm reviewing as potential victims for the public policy initiative. I have chosen 6 of them so far

I was just wondering if they are applicable to public policy- they should be since I got them through the "assessment" tab. Also which ones you think would work best. Are there any that you think I should work on since they need a lot of help? Things like that. Thanks mentor! Julietabulie (talk) 22:49, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
