Shapr3D is commercial parametric solid modeling CAD software, that is focused on the Industrial Design and Manufacturing industries.

Shapr3D runs on the Siemens Parasolid modeling kernel[1] and is available for Windows[2], macOS, iPadOS[3] and VisionOS[4].

History

Shapr3D is developed by a company of the same name. The company developing Shapr3D was founded in 2014 by Istvan Csanady[5] with the goal of making CAD a tool that all can access[6]. The company is based in Budapest, Hungary[7].

  • In March 2016, the first version of Shapr3D was launched publicly[8].
  • In 2017 Shapr3D migrated to Siemens Parasolid, away from OpenCASCADE [9].
  • In 2019, Shapr3D raised $6m from Point9 Capital and Creandum [10] to help fund accelerated development of it's software.
  • In 2020 Shapr3D won an Apple Design award for it's iPad app[11][12]. Shapr3D also became available on macOS[13], leveraging Apple's shift to Apple Silicon hardware.
  • In 2021, Shapr3D released 2D Drawings[14] and Shapr3D on Windows[15] including support for Snapdragon CPUs[16].
  • In 2022, Shapr3D raised a further $14.5M from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and existing investors. [17]. Shapr3D expanded into Visualization by adding PBR rendering[18].
  • In 2023, Shapr3D announced that it was releasing History-based Parametric Modeling [19].
  • In 2024, Shapr3D announced the availability of Shapr3D on Apple's Vision Pro hardware[20].

Features

3D Modeling

  • History-based Parametric Modeling or Direct Modeling workflows [21]
