== Deleting User:Kyle andrew/Enter your new article name here ==

Listen, I was creating a User page so it would not be deleted, it was not finished nor was it published live. You have no right to delete this because Wikipedia gave you an ounce of authority. I had been working on that page for 2-3 hours as a rough outline, and was going to revise it. Now I have nothing to go off of to fix what I had. If you want to flex some "authority" you have maybe you should wait until its an actual article. I am not trying to be rude, but that was uncalled for, idiotic, unprofessional, and apparently it is possible to delete articles on the premise of "silliness". I pray that you created a duplicate before you decided to delete this page so you can re-post it, because as I have reiterated many times. YOU HAD NO RIGHT (even by your "status" of "administrator"). Please enlighten me on your logic behind this so I can calm down and create another page to your "specifications" so it does not get deleted AGAIN or ever, especially by you. Conversation on admin noticeboard re: block of ISP for low-income users

I have started a conversation regarding a block of an ISP for low income users that was initiated two and a half years ago and was recently lifted. You were one of the people that helped review the initial block or helped review it when it was lifted. I am cordially inviting you to join in the conversation.

Planz wiki page was deleted

Could you please let us know why this page is deleted. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Planz&action=edit&redlink=1 This is a PIM tool that is developed by KFTF group at the University of Washington. If the wiki page is not applicable, can we link it to the page in our website? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bhuricha (talkcontribs) 01:48, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I got asked by the deleting administrator to recheck this article and its deletion.
The basic reason it got deleted was that if Planz is looked at as a software product (like any other software), then it doesn't appear to be likely to meet our inclusion criteria. if you read our page on notability and What Wikipedia is not, and the quick guide on some practical aspects in the header of the notability noticeboard you'll get an idea what kind of criteria are considered in the decision. In the case of Planz, self-placed coverage would usually include most writings and talks, etc, by its creators, because these are things most author(s) of software could do if they wished (see section: . Notability: Self-promotion and indiscriminate publicity).
If you feel, having read those pages, that Planz does meet the criteria, then providing links or evidence at the noticeboard would be a good way to get feedback. Note that the noticeboard is not a decision making process, its aim is to give informal feedback to article creators on whether an article seems likely to be viable. If it does not meet site criteria, then you can ask for the text of your article and there are many web sites or web hosts it can be put on, but Wikipedia would not be appropriate because it is not a public webhost.
Hope this helps, do ask if you need more help. FT2 (Talk | email) 04:00, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Live Native Deletion

Dear Dragonfly, On 3 August you deleted one of the articles I created giving the reason that it is "much too promotional". It looks like this was done as a "speedy deletion" and not as a "proposed deletion". Can you please explain in what way you think this article is "much too promotional" and meets the criteria for "speedy deletion" and was not appropriate for a "proposed deletion"? On 13 July I received feedback from an editor who did not recommend deletion but had some useful suggestions which I would like the opportunity to address. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_feedback/2010_July_13#Live_Native Is there a procedure that would allow me to do this? Surely this is only fair. Many thanks, --77.99.150.75 (talk) 14:33, 6 August 2010 (UTC) Sorry, I signed off before logging in... --PressedBack (talk) 14:36, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Idiots at Charlie Anders

As one of the alleged "idiots messing with the article" I must first ask you to assume good faith (which your edit comment shows you have not), and also to explain why you reverted a clear fact -- that Charlie Anders is the pen name of Charlie Anders Kooperman. Are you claiming this is untrue or irrelevant? I am rather baffled. Bigdaddy1981 (talk) 22:35, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Dragonfly I came in to add more content and see that our pages are gone. I completely disagree with this. The real world - fiction is met because it's tied to what is in the book and the article is about the book and as for the boring one, that's your view, others may not think so. In the meantime I have contacted the editor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Yaris678 who commented on my article after my request for feedback on 13 July. He has suggested that I contact you and request that you give me access to my article in order that I use the content for an article on Raw Skincare. You can see his comments here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:PressedBack#Live_Native. Please can you either give me access to my article so that I can proceed with this editor's suggestion? I have nominated Gail Carriger, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gail Carriger. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Guy (Help!) 18:44, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Hot europa, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Jdrewitt (talk) 17:14, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Hot_europa. The article you added the redirect to has previously been deleted since the term is made up. Jdrewitt (talk) 17:20, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Phil Harvey

Why was the link to the Adam&Eve Hot Chat Initiative deleted? Thanks in advance for getting back to us.

Firstly, we do not need to link to every single venture in which Mr Harvey is involved. Secondly, there isn't even a site there. It's just a domain squatter. DS (talk) 14:24, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your point in regards to listing all of Mr. Harvey ventures makes perfect sense and is acceptable, your comments in regards to domain squatting relating to the A&E Hot Chat venture are completely untoward and without merit. May we suggest more research prior to such an inflammatory comment.

Okay. But I clicked on the link and there's no site there. Maybe there will be a site in the future, but right now it looks like... nothing. Even if it were appropriate to link the site, it wouldn't be appropriate to link it before it exists! DS (talk) 14:54, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Completely agree with your comments. Not sure why that happened? Here's the link for your own information, maybe we made a typo. This is just for clarification, please feel free to delete after you have seen the site, which does indeed exist. Adam&Eve Hot Chat

There was indeed a typo - no 'and'. Which means that it's most likely someone typosquatting. Anyway, glad we've got that sorted out. DS (talk) 15:17, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Imagine my delight when I spent over two hours redacting this article to see it was deleted in the meantime. First of all, I had no warning that it was going to be deleted as there was no AfD or speedy template. So I had no way of knowing that my article was going to be shot out from under me. In any case, the deletion was incorrect, in my opinion. The original article was almost certainly substantially different from the current version, as most of the cites in the current version postdate the date of deletion of the original article. The situation has changed and a new AfD is required. Herostratus (talk) 17:21, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Well, its difficult to compare the versions now since they are so different, after I slaved over it. I do agree that it's entirely possible that the article should be deleted, but in its previous incarnation it was such a mess that it wasn't even possible to discuss the question rationally. (Man, that's bad when you have an article that is so bad it can't even be deleted.) At least now one can read the article and decide whether its notable or not. Which it might be: there is now a Toronto Star reference, and an Alan Colmes TV interview, and a TV interview with some Canadian talking head. I don't care at all for articles like this -- I'm inclined to include it in Category:Internet begging, but that would be too cruel -- but it deserves a new AfD. I'm thinking about whether to nominate it or not. I think that the dogs would bark at the Star and Colmes and the CBC and the article would be kept, so maybe that would be a waste of time. Herostratus (talk) 17:55, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anders

I'm a wee bit confused -- you delete Choir Boy and the Lazy Cross Dresser (two of her best known, best selling works) as you claim individual works are not to be in the lede -- yet leave Shes Such a Geek in that same lede. Your reasoning seems at best inconsistent. Assuming good faith, I'll accept your claim re indivdual works not being in the lede and delete Shes Such a Geek. Why did you delete my page?

Hello -- I recently logged on and noticed that you redirected my new page, Tat-Friendly, to the Tattoo article, and said that my article was not in fact an article. Why is that? What must I add to my article to make it a true article by Wikipedia standards? The tat-friendly issue is a tremendous one that is not only a hot topic in pop culture but also an area of psychological research, specifically regarding the stereotypes about those with tattoos and how that translates to prejudice in places such as the workplace. It is a large issue deserving of its own topic. Just as, for example, there is a page for "Abortion Debate" that is separate from "Abortion", there needs to be a page for "Tat-friendly" that is separate from "Tattoos". Author Greg Wright 'This Gilded Age'

If I ask you what it was that you personally found 'not notable' about "This Gilded Age," I am then in the unique conundrum of asking you to substantiate a negative, which is basically impossible, and since the burden of proof is on, I guess, me (in other words, I imagine you'll take your mighty red pen and slash the page again or perhaps eat my first born child or whatever) I find that to be a rather pointless argument.

Then again, I'm left with little choice but to ask that very thing.

On the one hand, I know nothing about you, so I'm left with little to suppose. On the other hand, well, here we are.

The book's on Google, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc, and has done reasonably well in sales despite having no marketing.

As for "What IS notable." On Wikipedia, there is an entire page dedicated to the word "Sandpit," with such gems as:

-Sandpits encourage the imaginations and creativity of children.

-They also sometimes have lids, to cover the sand when children aren't using it, thereby preventing passing cats from using the play area as a litterbox.

-The sand gets dirty over time and is eventually replaced.

I have, respectfully, no doubt that if that page were left to your careful scrutiny, the sandpit story would be very different (more notable, perhaps?), but my question is, if someone has to wikipedia search "what is a sandbox, aka sandpit?" then I find it highly unlikely that they would possess the necessary literary faculties needed to negotiate the internet.

Maybe that's a bit presumptuous of me.

Regardless, apparently that page is "notable."

So my question is basically this, at what point does a form of "pop culture" in any capacity become "notable?"

Is it notable that the book in question is currently being translated into Russian for publication there, or that it's a widely published book available and (for the record) read variously throughout the country?

I'm not saying it's backhanding "Gone with the Wind" or the King James Bible in terms of book sales, but I will bet you that it's more notable than the next sparkly vampire teenage romanti-porn daytime blockbuster soap drama.

And on that note, I'll kindly await your response. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GregxWright (talkcontribs) 05:18, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of the dragonbrothers user page

Hello DragonflySixtyseven, I noticed that you've deleted he profile information from our dragonbrother profile page. first of all I thought that the profile is something personal from the author and can include anyhing but thats not my point. my point is that this article was a preparation for our soon outcoming website www.dragonbros.net and was just saved here on wikipedia so I'd want you to ask if you could please restore the informations since we have no backup, (wikipedia was our backup) in case that you want us to take out the profile information we will do so if you tell us and upload then on our website untill the article and the website are completely done.

yours, The Dragonbrothers

EDIT I got contacted by hersfold and he sent me the informations I needed, the text wont be uploaded on wikipedia in future and I'd like to thank for the support! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dragonbrothers (talkcontribs) 02:39, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

History of Hungary

Please don't support racist editors. User Yopie is a nostalgist of panslav state (Czechoslovakia), and he often show nationalist & panslavist attitude in his editings. Skipper Chuck Zink -- Trying my best to have this history saved

Hello DS. You put a message on my page in August 2010. I hope I am putting these in the right place. Regarding verifications about Skipper Chuck Zink, Miami personality from 1956-2006 -- perhaps the duplicate entries for him could be combined. There appears to be quite a bit of information on Wikipedia if you read about CHUCK ZINK and then again at the SKIPPER CHUCK page.

I have two Photobucket pictures taken in January 1957 in my account which can be used for any purposes. There were three cast members of the show:

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y214/Radio_Lady/Popeye_Playhouse50scast.jpg Original cast: "Skipper" Chuck Zink, "First Mate" Ellen Kimball, "Glumbo Despair" the clown Richard McMurry

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y214/Radio_Lady/skipperchuckzink5.jpg Original publicity photo:"Skipper" Chuck Zink, "First Mate" Ellen Kimball, "Glumbo Despair" the clown, Richard McMurry

A FACEBOOK page is now in evidence in which quite a few people posted their own memories and photos:

This Facebook page contains links to still photos from Mr. Zink's career, as well as a link to a YouTube production which may be the last existing film link. I think I mentioned it once before, but it's here. I am actually in this video at about 11 minutes:

I hope this is satisfactory. Thanks for your help. I don't know any way to get production information from the Jackie Gleason Show. Frankly, most of us "original broadcasters" are gone now and kinescopes of our show do not exist. Hope you understand. Ellen Kimball (talk) 04:31, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Among friends, students and neighbors, Ailson Henrique Brites is best known "Jucão". On his driver's licence, social security card, passport, yellow pages, championship result pages (provided in the article), etc., he is referred to as Ailson Brites and less frequently as Ailson H. Brites. Please revert the page name back to Ailson “Jucão” Brites. Thanks. Fayerman (talk) 22:37, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting User:Kyle andrew/Enter your new article name here
