This is a listing of countries with Burger King franchises, followed by countries which formerly had one and countries without one. Burger King has a longstanding presence at U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force installations worldwide, dating back to the 1980s under a contract with Army and Air Force Exchange Service. Today, while other chains such as Taco Bell, Popeyes, and Subway have a presence on military bases, virtually every major Army and Air Force installation hosts a BK restaurant.
Hong Kong
Burger King Hong Kong is wholly owned by North Asia Strategic, who obtained exclusive right to operate from BK AsiaPac Pte Limited.[1][2]
The first store was opened on 29th, December 2007 in the Sun Arcade, 28 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.[2]
There are currently 15 stores in Hong Kong.[3] There are 5 stores in Hong Kong Island, located in Central, Wanchai, Causeway Bay and Fortress Hill. In Kowloon, there are 5 stores currently in operation, located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hung Hom, Mongkok, Wong Tai Sin and Tsz Wan Shan.
Japan
Burger King originally entered Japan in 1993, but due to high competition it withdrew from Japanese market in 2001.[4]
However, Burger King reentered Japanese market with an opening of the first store in Shinjuku, Tokyo in November, 2006.[5] There are currently 33 stores opened in Japan.[6]
