Upper Coomera is a suburb on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Coomera has long been earmarked by the Gold Coast City Council and the State Government for a new satellite growth suburb of the Gold Coast, similar in many ways to Robina.

Upper Coomera is seen as having the semi-rural lifestyle, but this is shared with the development of single detached dwellings.

The developments in this location benefit from the close proximity to the Coomera River.

The Upper Coomera precinct has also seen much development with Coomera Springs, a residential development currently under construction with 750 home sites set around a lake, parklands and recreational facilities. Other residential developments currently under construction include Coomera Retreat, Highland Reserve, Park Springs, The Landing and The Retreat.[2]

Upper Coomera residential developments recently completed include Coomera Parklands, Coomera Grand, River Meadows and College Grange.[3]

Location

Upper Coomera is located on the western side of the M1 motorway. It borders the Coomera River on the south side which separates it from the suburb of Oxenford.

Directly across the M1 lies the suburb of Coomera, which is the home of the theme park Dreamworld which now incorporates the sister adjoining park Whitewater World.

Housing

The most recent median house price (June 2010) for Upper Coomera is $465,000 and the median unit price is $355,000.[4]

Education

Primary Schools

Upper Coomera is now home to a new multi-million dollar school, Highland Reserve State School which opened to students on January 27, 2009.

Secondary Schools

Upper Coomera has a suburban entertainment complex called The Lost City. This is a themed building in the style of Arabic architecture. It has several bars, a nightclub, a poker machine gambling room and a restaurant.

Development

The Coomera City Centre is 14ha development, located at the corner of Days Road and Old Coach Road. It comprises a retail precinct with tenancies ranging from 50sqm to 300sqm with the major tenant being Woolworths. A number of other specialty stores will be[when?] housed in this retail precinct. The development also includes medical centres and a tavern.

Located directly opposite Coomera City Centre is the development titled The Hub. This development is a two-storey besser block construction. On the lower level, The Hub comprises a variety of fast food outlets including Subway and McDonald's. A service station incorporating a KFC opened on the site in December 2011. A number of offices are situated on the upper level.

The Coomera Town Centre which is expected to be completed in 2013 [5] around the Coomera Railway Station which is about 10 minutes away will be a huge addition to the Upper Coomera area. [1]

A new has been completed on the corner of Days Rd and Old Coach Rd, this includes a BP service station and KFC. A new development has started across from Woolwoorths which will include an Aldi, Caltax service station, hungry jacks and a Masters.
