Wikipedia encourges unbiased, factual eiditing, of which, I've provided. However, I've been a victim of incessant reversions by biased editors, that you apparently haven't sent warnings to, and I can only assume that you have the same biased agenda. I'm a very good researcher and documenter, and have thoroughly documented the abuse that I've suffered here. Time to go to the media. Block me. Revision as of 01:13, 12 May 2012

You've reached the user talk page of Dpmuk. This is where you can communicate with me. If you're message is about an action of mine please could I ask that you read any relevant information on my user page first as that may answer your question and save by you and me some time. If you still wish to leave a message then please do so by clicking on the "+" or "new section" links above. Please remember to sign your posts by adding ~~~~ after your message. This will make it much easier for me to know who I'm talking to.

Please remember that I, and nearly everyone else at Wikipedia, is a volunteer. We're also only human. Therefore we may make mistakes or take a long time to reply. Please try not to get angry if you believe that is the case and try to assume good faith. I am aware that that is often easier said than done but it is likely to make the experience easier for all involved.

I will reply to all good faith messages that appear to need a reply. If I haven't replied to your message but I've been active on this page since you posted it then it would appear that I've either accidentally missed your message or assumed it didn't need a reply. If that's the case feel free to post me a reminder.

I will generally reply to you on your talk page. I will reply here if you specifically ask me to or I am aware that you are an editor that prefers replies on the same page the original message was posted on. If I've posted to your talk page, or an article talk page, then I will be watching that page so feel free to post there or here as you prefer. If my post was a long time ago (more than 2 months) then I may have stopped watching the page in question. If that is the case then you'll have to post here to get my attention.

I manually archive this page after every 50 conversations, generally a few days after the 50th discussion appears to have finished. If your message is no longer here please check my archives.

Good Evening,

I have a question about your removal of content in this article. Please see what I wrote below your post at Talk:MV Elwha. Teofilo talk 23:06, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the support

Thanks for the support. I find it depressingly familiar that when an editor reverts without a comment on the talk page of "No is is not because xyz" that it is a lost cause because 99 time out of 100 they know its a copyright violation and have been doing the same in other articles. Ironic in this case given the user name! -- PBS (talk) 08:18, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If it's anything to you

I got the userpage oppose on my RfA as well (and a bunch of comments from supporters). I don't want to comment on its validity, but I thought you might want to know that you're not alone. Whether you change it or not is totally up to you; don't get overly concerned over it. Hope your RfA keeps going this smoothly, and I look forward to seeing you on the other side! At least you have a better excuse than me; the Luddite in me prevents me from updating anything of mine here. If you want to fill in more on your page, I'm sure it'll pacify BR, but don't feel obligated or anything. Once again, good luck. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 06:31, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't worry about the userpage oppose. I can see the argument that userboxen detailing your language skills are useful if you have some language skills other than English, otherwise I see userpages as very much a personal choice - with a redlink as a valid option. Thanks for the fix, and good to know that that's where they belong in headers for future reference.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 18:43, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well results are what matter. Come to think of it, I'm not sure anchors in headers aren't redundant—the headers can be linked directly. By the way, didn't know you were up for RFA but congrats. If any new admin questions arise, please feel free to drop by my talk page.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 05:16, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Let me already congratulate you on an RfA gone well. There's still 50 minutes left of it but I doubt that that many opposes will rack up that quickly. Congrats!!! Copyright, fair use and snatches of lyrics

Hi, congrats on your fellow-new-adminship! I noticed that you have an interest in copyright, so thought I'd drop this one on you. Full or long extracts of lyrics were rightly deleted a few times from Eyes on Me (Faye Wong song) when it was part of the article Music of Final Fantasy VIII. However, without knowing the details of fair use law, I thought a few lines ought to be permitted with a very similar justification to album covers, especially the lines that explain and give context to the song title. Nevertheless these too were removed (here), citing copyright, although the editor mentioned on my talk page (archived) that he was playing safe. Do you think it would be acceptable to reinsert these few lines, with a hidden inline comment claiming fair use, and documented on the talk page? Seems OK to me, having followed your userpage links and found WP:NFC#Text. – Fayenatic L (talk) 13:28, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just had to apologize for giving you short shrift when I meant to give you a shout out. :) Sorry about that; I was at the absolute worst point of a migraine and highly frazzled by this unexpected work bomb that had dropped in my lap.

You and your contributions to copyright work have been a serious morale booster for me. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:01, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem. I had noticed that post but assumed I'd been around long enough now not to warrant a mention! I'm still amazed you can do anything while having a migraine. Dpmuk (talk) 06:07, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You've been around quite long enough, but your recent step-up of activity has made a major change. You've got your lovely bot all functional, and you've passed your RFA and are chipping in at CP. All told, as I say, a serious morale booster. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:59, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fuzzy-trace theory

Hi, on February 27th you deleted the Fuzzy-trace theory article and redirected it to Confabulation's page. I think that that theory deserves it's own article (I got nearly 80 articles searching on psycinfo), and i'm working on a project with my university that involves the creation or the review of a wikipedia article, and I have chosen to work on that one. So this is why i am going to undo your contribution and re-upload the article. Anyway i assure you that i have read all the guides to create correctly an article and i am aware of all the rules of wikipedia. Regards, Miolia (talk) 17:22, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dpmuk. Could you look at the text of the now deleted Oxford-Georgian Society and University of Oxford Georgian Society and tell me how similar they are to the draft in User:AktadG/sandbox. I'm in the process of advising this user on the feasibility of re-creating the article. In my opinion, it isn't feasible, but I just want to be sure. You can answer here. I've got your page on watch. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 06:52, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please Read this thoroughly

Dear Dpmuk,

I understand where you are coming from, and the reasons why you are doing it. I did admit that I have copy pasted most of the information I posted on this article from another website, I am not denying that. But you also must understand what was the cause of this problem, the copyright violation happened in the first place. Please bear with me as I explain, as I have done so many times, I really hope that this time you and the other admins will understand it clearly. The first original page of this article was done or contributed by an unknown, I could not find the original author, but it was believed to be 6 years ago or so, I am not sure. By the way, the organization changed its power structure 2 years ago, so, a lot can happen in 2 years, and I was just merely updating the article. When I started my editing,

  • I may have changed or corrected a few words of the original article BUT I did NOT delete any or change the structure of the articles.
  • I did copy pasted the newly added informations from a website, the organizations official and only website.
  • I did referenced the informations, listing the website as the reference. And everytime I click save page, there was no error report or any messages saying that I have committed copyright violation.
  • I was almost finished and then I got a message saying that this article was in suspicion of copyright violation. I nonetheless continue to edit is as I taught I would handle it later when I am finished.
  • As I've finished my editing, I proceed to correct the duplication error report, It took me a while, until I finally discovered what was the source of the problem. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART, the error report told me that I have copy pasted A PARAGRAPH, a single paragraph from this website which I have never even heard of plus been to, http://www.developmentgateway.com.au/cms/sectors/governance/page6430.html, the whole copyright violation error that I was accused of started because of this. I was supposed to reference that website in the reference section but I didn't. Of course I didn't, because I did not copy paste the information from that website, and because that website has no affiliations with the organization.
  • So I decided to paraphrase, but before I could finish what I was doing, the page has already been blocked. I did noticed that all of the other informations that I copy pasted from the organization's official website showed no error, no copyright violation, because I HAVE referenced the organization's official website. But because of one paragraph, and a completely random, unknown website, the page was blocked.
  • I did identify myself as an employee of the organization, but like you said there was no sure way of verifying who I say I am, I understand, and I have talked to my superiors about this, about allowing permission for wikipedia and other people to modify the informations at the original website. But they have decided that, it is not acceptable as the website is a government protected website, the property of the government, so they cannot allow it to be easily accessed and modified. But they did state that as long as I referenced the website at wikipedia, then there would be no problem. I did. I did referenced the website, the official website.

Yesterday, the page was no longer blocked, thanks to user RA0808, who was kind enough to help me, and understand my situation. I have considered the matter to be resolved and that there will be no more issues, and I can continue doing what I first set out to do. So today, I started to edit the page, copy pasting the informations as I did before from the organization's website, without forgetting to referenced the website as the source, I did referenced it. Halfway through, minutes before this reply, I receive a message from you, saying that you have blocked it again. Can you understand what I am going through? How frustrated I am? No disrespect to you, but you have just recreated an issue that was already solved, the same excuse of copyright violation, while I have thoroughly explained myself over and over again, that I did not commit any copyright violations, I did NOT copy pasted from this website http://www.developmentgateway.com.au/cms/sectors/governance/page6430.html, that's why I didn't referenced it, because again, it has no affiliations with the organization. It was clear that all of it was a mistake and misunderstanding. I copy pasted from this website http://www.sprm.gov.my/, the official website, and I referenced it as the source, which is why I never received any error(duplication detector errors, admin error/complaints) from Wikipedia saying I committed plagiarism. It is not plagiarism if you cited the source or referenced it, am I right?

Do you understand now? Or do I have to explain my self further. Just a couple hours ago, I was editing the page, doing the same thing, with referencing the official website, I did not receive any error report, at all. Frankly speaking, I am tired of all this explaining, over and over again, so here's what I'll do; I really hope that you and all the other admins understand where I am standing, as I have explained myself, and if you do agree with me that I've done nothing wrong, you will unblock the page to allow me to complete my task, or if so you and the other admins decide that I am still wrong no matter what I've said and explained, then delete the page, don't hold or block it for investigation whatsoever, because I can honestly say that other than myself and my superiors(which is unlikely), there will be no one else that's going to solve the issue. I won't even bother anymore. Delete it immediately if you decide I am wrong, unblock it and let me continue do what I was doing if you decide I am right.

Thank you very much. Kery sprm (talk) 09:34, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Sorry for the delay in getting to this but I've had a busy couple of days and it slipped my mind. Dpmuk (talk) 06:53, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No rush. I just remember it being your reason for wanting adminship so I thought I'd throw it your way directly instead of figuring out the "process". -- stillnotelf is invisible 13:58, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well at the time the main delete button was more my reason although revdel was one as well. Anyway the relevant process is to tag with {{copyvio-revdel}} although I've hardly ever seen that used so I suspect a request to a friendly admin is always likely to be more efficient. Dpmuk (talk) 14:01, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dpmuk, thank you for your clarification. I'll go through your points and offer to resolve them:

  • 1. Blanking/Deletion - I will re-read the instructions and follow them. I did send an email last night to give permission so perhaps that's already sorted
  • 2. I thought I resolved notability by inserting a reference directly to the NZ (government) Company Office's website displaying our organisation's Certificate of Incorporation as a charitable trust under New Zealand law
  • 3. Username - sorry I wasn't aware of this. I had set up that account a looong time ago (2008) but didn't really do anything with it. I think there might be an account under my name in existence, I will track that down and delete the Nzresilience one
  • 4. I do understand and thank you once again for your help. I'm concerned around the Conflict of Interest issue and have posted the page onto what I think is the right place to ask for someone to review and update it

Document Records Wiki Page and Facebook

Hello, I wonder if you could assist us please. Some of the info on Wiki pertaining to our listing is factually incorrect but I guess we can deal with that, however someone has linked the page to Facebook and listed us as an organisation. I presume this has come from either yourself or another individual. We don't have any objection in principle but due to a glitch with Facebook this listing is the only one that appears to come up for Document Records on a Facebook search. We started our own Facebook page as Document Records..a record label but it would appear that your Wiki listing "trumps" our own company page in the listings hence any one who tries to search for us simply finds your listing. We would be obliged if you would take the Wiki page off Facebook if you are able to until we resolve this situation. Thanks very much. Gillian Atkinson. Satisfying Copyright material with comment or message from author Darren Naish

Hello. I am enquiring about your April 3 delete of new material I was adding to the article "Sparassodonta", taken from a blog written by Darren Naish titled "Long-snouted marsupial martens and false thylacines" where he writes "Still borhyaenids, proborhyaenids and thylacosmilids to come, and dare I say that I've left the best to last. Incidentally, wikipedia'a entries on borhyaenoids are woefully inadequate. Wouldn't it be great if someone took the information presented here (and in the other articles) and repackaged it for wider dissemination. Hint hint." So, based on the author´s suggestion I was re-packaging his article as "Sparassodonta" when you removed it for investigacion of copyright infringement. My question is, would you like me to get a message from the author saying that he is alright with this use in Wikipedia, or is his above quote enough? If I ask for a personal message, how shall I use it so that you will know that Darren gave permission to use and manipulate editoriallly his material?

Thanks. huicocos Huicocos (talk) 18:47, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Abuse Filter on the Article Feedback Tool

Hey there :). You're being contacted because you're an edit filter manager, At the moment, we're developing Version 5 of the Article Feedback Tool, which you may or may not have heard about. If you haven't; for the first time, this will involve a free-text box where readers can submit comments :). Obviously, there's going to be junk, and we want to minimise that junk. To do so, we're working the Abuse Filter into the tool.

For this to work, we need people to write and maintain filters. I'd be very grateful if you could take a look at the discussion here and the attached docs, and comment and contribute! Thanks :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 18:13, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I saw and understand your rationale for deletion of the Lorenzo Mariani page. Sometime in the future I will re-create the page, but will avoid verbatim usage of the originating source. Review requested.

I made a comment in a discussion about copyright here [1] and then added a clarification here [2]. The second part was added so it clear that I wasn't saying it was ok, only that it is likely ok, less absolute. I'm fairly confident in my interpretation, but if I've made any mistakes, point them out here so I can go and correct them there. This one discussion isn't an area of high impact on copyright, but since I expect to slowly work in the copyright area, I find asking for review helpful.
