Calm down, dear! Calm down! I think that you might just be a little wrong, there! The Umlaut is most definitely also used, beside German, in the Finnish and the Hungarian, if not also the Swedish and the Estonian, languages, as well as upon (on) the Dictionaries of the Faroese and the Icelandic languages. (and your English is not exactly cut-glass, either, mate! and neither do I, I suppose!) — KC9TV 08:15, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, sure, the diaeresis diacritic is used in German, as well as Turkish, Icelandic, et cetera. However, they are not called "umlaut" in any other language apart from German. Saying that they "mark umlaut" in Turkish is a definite factual error, as the diaeresis is only used to mark umlaut (that is, an I-mutation) in German. The same diacritic has as different purpose in other languages. Furthermore, have a read at the edit in question: "used, among other languages in German to mark umlaut". Does this make sense in the English language at all? -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 11:15, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So did I, come to think of it, I suppose. A bit of the "T.L.D.R.". Well, I do pray and hope that my subsequent intervention is to your satisfaction, Sir. I rest, your servant. — KC9TV 13:02, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Scarborough is fun

Could I IAR on 3RR due to the, well, absolutely blatant POV pushing? I am sorely tempted. I wonder if the newest user somehow feels that having a European username makes his POV less POV... CMD (talk) 14:44, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

IP block exempt

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption.--v/r - TP 23:57, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

SPI report

Hello, just as a heads-up, somebody (99801155KC9TV (talk · contribs)) filed a strange SPI report about you and apparently didn't notify you. Nothing to worry about; I've closed it as rather obviously non-actionable. Please let me know if you want anything else done about it. Fut.Perf. 15:24, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm in China at the moment. Access to Wikipedia and the internet in general will be iffy for me in the next few weeks. Right now I'm using HTTPS fine, but if Tor, VPN and closed proxies don't work for any reason, I won't be contactable unless via email (Special:EmailUser or whatever it's called). -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 15:54, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Having a look at what he's written, I'd just like to add a few things:

  • It's not rocket science that I am 220.245.209.35 when I am in Canberra, Australia. My userpage even mentions it. I don't see how this violates any rules. No disruptive editing was conducted using that IP whilst not logged in.
  • I use IP addresses when I want to report a 4chan raid and don't want to reveal my Wikipedia username/identity, for obvious reasons. I say this at WP:ANI all the time, and I do this at WP:ANI all the time. Having my username show up when teenage internet warriors from /b/ show up is just idiotic. I see this as a borderline attempt to "out" me, but I'll assume good faith for now and ignore it.

Do as you see fit, -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 16:09, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Commons help

I need to transfer some county maps from ZH-Wiki over to Commons so some county articles don't remain "off the map", per se, so could you enlighten me on this process? Oh, and how is winter recess going? BTW, I've seen some Southern Hemisphere climate sections here on Wiki remind Northern Hemispher-er's that the seasons are "opposite"—am absolutely appalled that we have to do that!
The Move-to-Commons assistant seems quite buggy lately, it never worked the last few times I've tried to use it, and I've had to move images to commons manually. What's supposed to happen is that a bot moves the file to commons for you, once you get a TUSC account, but it doesn't seem to work anymore. There are three CommonsHelper assistants, and they are here (magnus), here (richs), and here (commmonshelper2). -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 04:53, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Benlisquare. A few months ago, TParis granted you an IP Block Exemption for you to use while you were traveling. POV pushing at Prostitution in the People's Republic of China

There is a Korean user who calls himself User:Chinese-proti. All of his edits consist of making Korea look good (downplaying korean prostitution to foreign men), while trying to defame China by calling china the biggest exporter of women (and he deliberately inserts the word "local men" as if to emphasize korean prostitutes get f***d only by korean men while chinese women are whoring to everyone).

His english is horrible and apparently he is so embarassed by the paragraph on north korean women whoring themselves in china that he keeps on adding the claim that most of their clients are ethnic korean citizens of china pn both the articles about prostitution in china and north korea.

one of his edits summaries actualy says this- not a joke- "Korean women`s customers in foreign countries are mostly Korean men"Mitoese (talk) 21:32, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

i suggest you place the articles about prostitution in china, north korea, and south korea on your watchlist, because this guy is persistent in dissapearing for a few months and then showing up again to add his trash attacks on the articles. I'm obviously not 4chan staff, and I've only applied for janitorhood once, and that was on /int/ back when /new/ just got deleted, and obviously I wasn't successful, otherwise I wouldn't be talking about it right now (4chan.org/rules: declaring janitor is immediate grounds for dismission). -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 09:22, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bro I'm a Chinese, born and raised in the Netherlands but with roots from Shanghai. A lot of this page on anti-Chinese sentiments only incites more hatred against Chinese and, in my opinion, should be deleted. I understand what you're trying to say, however keep in mind that editors on Wikipedia are here to contribute towards encyclopedia-building, and not nation-defending. Wikipedia is a neutral encyclopedia which will contain content that you will like, and content that you will dislike; that doesn't mean that one can delete content that you don't like. As long as content adheres to the core Wikipedia policies, such as WP:RS, WP:V, WP:N, WP:NPOV, WP:OR, et cetera, there is no need to delete it. There is process on Wikipedia regarding how things are handled, and doing things different from standard procedure is somewhat disruptive towards the entire system. If everyone was allowed to delete things they don't like, then we wouldn't have Wikipedia anymore - Japanese would delete Anti-Japanese sentiment, Muslims would delete Zionism, white supremacists would delete race mixing, AKB48 fans would delete SNSD, Nintendo fans would delete PlayStation 3, Americans would delete every single article on the FIFA World Cup because they're always losing, and no articles would be left. -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 14:38, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm Dodoïste from the Wikipedia:WikiProject Accessibility. I requested the deletion of Template:Mousetext. This template was often used in a way that produces accessibility issues. And in the good cases it was a duplicate of the {{abbr}} template. Please use the latter template in the future. If you're interested to know the details of the accessibility issues, I'd be glad to explain.

This request has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is a deprecated template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Cheers, Dodoïste (talk) 23:31, 22 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The U-users

I pasted some arbitrary parts of U4930347's edits to Japanese opium policy in Taiwan (1895–1945) and into Google and didn't notice anything, so there is a possibility that they're not the same person as U4771212. However, there's almost certainly some relation between them--possibly a class assignment of some sort? I'm not sure how to handle this though... wctaiwan (talk) 12:55, 29 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A giant chunk of text really arouses my suspicions, especially since every single paragraph is cited by the exact same reference. That reference has a paywall (requires it to be purchased for $29.95 in order to be viewed), but my impression is that if the user has pasted a huge chunk of copyvio text elsewhere, what are the chances that another huge chunk of text isn't a copyvio? -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 12:58, 29 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe. But the last time I saw a bunch of similar numerical usernames it ended up being a class project. If it's just a regular sock who can be reverted easily then there's little issue, but we'd have a problem if they have many accounts, are posting at a wide range of articles or actually turn out to be a group of people. I think I'll defer to your judgement, though. It's not worth it for me to get worked up over it so long as they're not POV-warring at Taiwan or something. wctaiwan (talk) 14:18, 29 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could you add the strength info to the battle of yultong page?

The amount of strength of each of the forces is said here: http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/225235/filipino-soldiers-story-of-korean-war-valor-redux

Additional Piece of info: Go to the part of the article named "Wounded in action". — Preceding unsigned comment added by SoaringSkies.V. (talkcontribs) 04:54, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That article specifically says that the author is a self-designated "historian" from www.peftok.blogspot.com. Furthermore, this "story" makes no sense, because the 44th Division never had more than 20,000 troops (40,000 in a division is outright illogical, and is one of the most stupidest things I've ever read), and it's foolish to obtain information from personal accounts rather than official figures due to obvious reasons. If you can find a veteran who "claims" he killed 500 soldiers, I too can "claim" that I've slept with 12 Saudi Arabian princesses. -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 05:18, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Socotra Rock

You posted some pictures related Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands. It's good work. Do you have any pictures related the Socotra Rock? Do you know Taiwan (ROC) policy of the island?--Syngmung (talk) 07:47, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody really talks about Socotra Rock - it's a dispute, but it's quite beneath the radar. It is barely mentioned or discussed, in both mainland China and Taiwan, and isn't as big of an issue compared to the disputes relating to Baekdu mountain, Senkaku islands, Liancourt Rocks, Kuril islands, et cetera. Officially, the ROC on Taiwan pursues its "official" territorial claims as described here, which mostly overlaps with the claims of the PRC, but I'm quite sure in reality the ROC doesn't have an active policy towards Socotra Rock - it's more of a mainland issue, since it's too far away from Taiwan for there to be any effective or reasonable dispute. It's the same reason why Taiwan hasn't made any loud statements regarding Baekdu mountain, Aksai Chin or South Tibet, despite the ROC "officially" claiming its territory within its 1912 map borders. -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 08:10, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks useful imformation. I see. Socotra Rock issue is mostly self disputed by South Korea. yes it is not island. ROC is unstable nation, so they dont strongly claim sovereignty over Baekdu mountain, Tibet, Aksai Chin, North Mongolia.. But Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands is very short distance, so ROC claims their sovereignty.--Syngmung (talk) 14:56, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You Exist On WP By The Bad Graces Of Apathy

I simply can not underastand how your obvious trolling, obvious immaturity, and overall bad nature is continued to be tolerated. I can only summize that those with the ability to put you in place or otherwise deal with you punitively are too apathetic, or too tied up with petty and idealistic sparring with other folk. But do you honestly expect a mature and intelligent person NOT to think you're simply a troll or a troublemaker? I admit, I sometimes look at your history for "the lolz," as most of what you say and contribute is either absurd, or meant to be inflammatory. Jersey John (talk) 15:49, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also, Wikipedia, at least in principle, is far above any sort of image board childishness. You should probably keep that in mind when you start ranting about what people are doing on 4chan (or some other ridiculous cesspool of immaturity), and not have it spill over to WM or color your perceptions of people here, nor should you have it influence in how you deal with other users and contributors, NOR should you have it slant your views or generalize whole races or nationalities (as you have done in the past). If it has that effect on you, then keep it out of WM. That is simply asinine. Jersey John (talk) 15:57, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New medical organization

Hi

I'm contacting you because, as a participant at Wikiproject Medicine, you may be interested in a new multinational non-profit organization we're forming at m:Wikimedia Medicine. Even if you don't want to be actively involved, any ideas you may have about our structure and aims would be very welcome on the project's talk page.

Our purpose is to help improve the range and quality of free online medical content, and we'll be working with like-minded organizations, such as the World Health Organization, professional and scholarly societies, medical schools, governments and NGOs - including Translators Without Borders.

Hope to see you there! --Anthonyhcole (talk) 21:15, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I've noticed that in the korean wiki Yang Kyoungjong is described as a fictional character. I wonder if there are any sources that can confirm that? (Or it's just an original and wrong research, as I think)--Fastboy (talk) 15:06, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Korean Wikipedia article is a complete mess, and is full of original research and uncited statements. One of the references the Korean article uses even refers to geocities webpages and internet forum posts for "source information". That Korean Wikipedia article is also full of speculation and personal analysis ("It could be possible that... it is likely that...") Per WP:OR, please do not introduce information translated from the Korean Wikipedia. I noticed in the Russian Wikipedia you included information about children - this is completely unsourced and original research, as is the date of birth. There are currently no reliable sources about his date of birth. -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 15:34, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

mainland China vs China

While I agree with you wanting to allow "mainland China" to be used, I have to object to your sarcastic comment about "What's even more shocking, the meteorology department of the National Taiwan University has been infiltrated by evil nationalists with a pro-unification agenda as well! " In fact a university receiving government funds (I assume NTU does) would not want to upset their benefactors. Add to this the long lasting institutional bias that likely arose when the wealthier nationalists were more able to send their kids there, as well as staffing that likely came from nationalists. In short, if I were to guess I would say that NTU would have a bias in favor of the Nationalist position both for historical reasons and for reasons of current government funding. I think that was a poor example to choose for the point you are trying to make. Readin (talk) 19:25, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see then, didn't look that much into it. Though, does it really make a difference? What if the DPP was in power - wouldn't universities likewise recieve government funding? -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 19:35, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes and I would expect them to move in a direction of less bias in favor of the KMT, with some professors even being willing to buck the trend and publicly support the DPP. But I think it would take a lot of time for the ingrained institutional biases to disappear completely. Readin (talk) 20:00, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"there is no "patcho" in hepburn romaji"

(talking about this) Can you elaborate on this, please? Did I misunderstand the article or is it wrong? —HigherFive (t | c) 14:45, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I got it wrong... My bad. Sorry about reverting your edit. -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 00:01, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry about it. It looked off to me too, so I wasn't sure. —HigherFive (t | c) 01:27, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
