The Governor of the Reserve Bank of India is the most senior banker in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the country's central bank. Since its establishment in 1935, the RBI has been helmed by 22 Governors. While the first-ever Governor was Sir Osborne Smith, the position is currently held by D. Subbarao, who is scheduled to hold office till 4 September 2013[1].
