Gauhar Khan (born Gauhar Zafar Khan on August 23, 1981), is an Indian model, VJ and actress who appears in Hindi films. She is the younger sister of actress Nigaar Khan. She is a current participant of the Indian reality show, Bigg Boss 7.

Khan made her screen debut in the 2003 Miss India: The Mystery, a box office flop. Her portrayal of a troubled model Esha, drew critical appreciation. She subsequently earned wide critical recognition in the 2009 Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, which was moderately successful at the Box Office. In 2010, she joined the cast of the first-ever Bollywood musical, Zangoora: The Gypsy Prince at Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon, where she plays the female lead opposite Hussain Kuwajerwala. She achieved further commercial success by starring in films such as the action thriller Game (2011), and the revenge drama Ishaqzaade (2012), a critical and commercial success.[1]

She rose to prominence by featuring in songs including "Naa Pere Kanchan Mala" (Shankar Dada MBBS 2004), "Nasha Nasha" (Aan: Men at Work 2004), "Parda Parda" (Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2010) and "Jhalla Walla" and "Chokra Jawaan" (Ishaqzaade 2012).

In addition to acting in films, she is active in humanitarian work, has a number of endorsement deals.

Early life

Gauhar Khan was born into a Muslim, Pashtun family in Pune, Maharashtra. She is the youngest of 5 siblings and the sister of actress Nigaar Khan. She completed her schooling from Mount Carmel Convent School, Pune. she currently lives in Mumbai.eldest sister Kausar Khan is a spa owner, her second sister Zakia Khan is an Interior Designer, and her only brother Asad Khan operates an ad agency, and all of them live in Dubai.

Modelling

Gauhar Khan has acted in a couple of television ads Ford Ikon and Tanishq jewellery. She has also modeled for Manish Malhotra.

In 2002, she participated in Femina Miss India contest and came fourth and represented India in Miss International contest that year. She ruled Indian Fashion World for four years 2002-2006.[2]

Gauhar Khan started off with appearances in a couple of music videos.[3] She has anchored the film gossip show Page 3 on Zoom Television.[4] In 2012, she participated in a popular celebrity dance show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. In Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 she paired up with Gurmeet Choudhary, who later became the winner of the show.[5]

Khan along with her sister Nigaar Khan appeared in a TV show "The Khan Sisters" which was Indian version of "Keeping up with the Kardashians". The show follows their life including modeling shows, auditions and interviews though the lavish setting of these starlets suggests much is staged.

maha Gauhar khan started her acting career with the 2003 film Miss India: The Mystery, a drama revolving around the troubled model. The film didn't do well at the Box Office, however her acting was critically appreciated. She began 2011 with an item number "Nasha" in the 2004 Madhur Bhandarkar's film Aan: Men at Work, and "Naa Pere Kanchan Mala" in Telugu film Shankar Dada MBBS.

Khan rose to get fame with portraying the lead role opposite Ranbir Kapoor in the 2009 Yash Raj's Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, a moderately successful at the box office.

In 2010, she did another item number "Parda Parda" in Milan Luthria's Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. "Parda Parda" was well received by critics and audiences alike, and become popular on music channels and radio stations. She achieved further critical and commercial success for her role of of outspoken and rebellious Chand Bibi in the 2012 romantic drama Ishaqzaade, in which she also did two item numbers "Jhalla Walla" and "Chokra Jawaan".
