Soon after its founding, the company raised $3.3 million from private and institutional sources.[1] In January 2006, the company IPO'd on the NASDAQ[2] and on March 25, 2009, the company's board of directors approved a buyback of up to $1 million worth of shares.[3] In August 2011, the company acquired Smilebox for $32 million.[4][5]

In September 2011, the company changed its name to Perion, the Hebrew word for productivity. In November 2012, Perion purchased SweetPacks (aka SweetIM) for up to $41 million.[6] In January 2014, the company acquired Conduit’s ClientConnect business in an all-stock transaction valued $660 million.[7] In June 2014, Perion acquired Grow Mobile for $42 million in order to expand mobile promotions, and in February 2015 it acquired social advertising company MakeMeReach. In June of 2014, Perion joined the TA-75 Index on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
