Culture and community

Memorial to the Armenian Genocide, Montevideo.

There is a strong presence of Armenians in Uruguay, where they have their own cultural and religious institutions, including the AGBU Uruguay Chapter, established in 1939.

Uruguay was the first country in the world to recognize the Armenian genocide, back in 1965.[5]
