Help me to improve an article related India and its geography

Manimajra was renamed as sector 13 legally by UT government of Chandigarh in January 2020 and by February 2020 the new name was finally declared to be written everywhere on papers. Below are links to the decision:- 1). https://m.timesofindia.com/city/chandigarh/manimajra-to-be-renamed-sector-13-residents-elated/amp_articleshow/73114749.cms .

2). https://www.hindustantimes.com/chandigarh/chandigarh-s-manimajra-is-now-sector-13/story-ploFPCA4UGpDu9ksUxLtdL.html

Being a Indian resident, i would like to contribute to this new law which was passed by our government .

It is true that the proposal had been initially opposed in december 2019. In the initial proposal, names like Sector M or Sector 26 east were proposed. Here is the link for initial proposals made :-

3)https://m.hindustantimes.com/chandigarh/manimajra-rwa-wants-number-not-m-after-sector/story-Q7ZPsdh5y120cEqlVAKuhP_amp.html

4)https://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-chandigarh-to-finally-get-sector-13-after-54-years-of-formation-2813378

(these articles were published in newspapers in 2019 which is old).

5)https://m.tribuneindia.com/news/archive/chandigarh/mani-majra-to-be-sector-m-863728 (This link i provided over here was published in Tribune India in November 2019 )

But soon the final decision was made which overruled the previous proposals and finally the new name for manimajra was concluded as sector 13 by the beginning of 2020. The next link (6th Link) was also published in Tribune India with the final decision which was declared in February 2020 :-

6)https://m.tribuneindia.com/news/chandigarh/its-official-mani-majra-is-sector-13-of-chandigarh-39042

Please help me by putting your vote in the panel discussion on the talk page section of Sector 13.

Here is an example on how to put your vote ___________.

  • Support
  • Strong Support
  • Agreed

Click on the edit tab and please copy any 1 vote you want to put from the above or you can put you vote by putting a * star symbol followed by 3 apostrophe marks ' ' ' and then writing your word for vote like support, agreed etc and finally closing it with again 3 apostrophe marks ' ' ' in the end.

Shunya Palanpuri

Hi friend,

Just created an article on Shunya Palanpuri on Urdu Wikipedia (link). Can you please help with English and Gujarati versions? That way, I suppose, we can pay a tribute to this great Gujarati litterateur. Thanks in advance. --Muzammil (talk) 17:26, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Hindustanilanguage:, Assalam o Alaiqum wa Rahematullahi wa Barkatuhu. First of all thank you for creating an article on Shunya Palanpuri on Urdu wiki. I Just visited the page. It looks good. I have planned to create his article on English Wiki but due to the other planing I could not created it. But I will create it as soon as possible (possibly in one week). And then KartikMistry 'll help us to translate it in Gujarati. -- Gazal world (talk) 17:38, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Walekum Ussalam Warehmatullahi wa barakatuhu. Adding Namaste as well. Hope to see these positive developments. Thanks. --Muzammil (talk) 17:56, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Hindustanilanguage: I started stub level article in guwiki as well! (PS: I'm from Palanpur :)) --Kartik Mistry talk 07:32, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @KartikMistry: Hope that in the coming days an English version of this comes out with the following:
1) Infobox
2) Family details: parents, wife, children, etc
3) Detailed info on his work(s)
4) Details about literary events and awards, if any. --Muzammil (talk) 13:43, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I am bit busy in real life. And also concerned on other two article. But as soon as possible, I 'll start to work. @Hindustanilanguage:please add the logo of Gujarat Sahitya Academy on Urdu wiki as I have added on English version.--Gazal world (talk) 14:10, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Shikwa and Jawab-e-Shikwa/Akademi

Hi Gazal world. Thank you for the thanks. It is a nice, informative article, improved by the edits you did. It needed a tidy up though and I think that it reads better now. Obviously if you disagree or if I have lost any of the meaning with my edits feel free to change them. Regards Gog the Mild (talk) 15:28, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Gog the Mild: Hello, thank you very much for the copy editing on Shikwa and Jawab-e-Shikwa. You are doing a great work. I will tray to expand the article whenever I will be free from real life. --Gazal world (talk) 19:25, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again. If you would like any future work copy editing, or come across any articles which could do with a copy edit, give me ping. Gog the Mild (talk) 20:31, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Gog the Mild: Thank you. Thank you for your kind words. I have created an article Gujarat Sahitya Akademi which needs copy editing. Yes, It was copy edited by my fellow Wikipedian Nizil Shah, but the 'Organisation' section still needs copy editing. You may check other sections of article. Thanks in advance. --Gazal world (talk) 23:42, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have started. The article mentions both a president and a chairman. Is this actually one position? If so, which is it officially known as? Who is Bhagyesh Jha? Ie, what is, or was, his official position?
To be picky, the title of the infobox uses a different spelling to the title of the article. Which would you prefer? Gog the Mild (talk) 18:16, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The article says that the Karyavahak Samiti has a maximum of 10 members, but then lists 11; which? The name keeps changing; the author needs to decide on one official name. Either Akadami, Acadamy, Acadamey or Acadami. Please read carefully; in some places I have had to guess at the meaning and I may have guessed wrong. If I have, either correct the article or ping me. Regards Gog the Mild (talk) 21:15, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Gog the Mild:, thank you for copyediting the article. It was pending for a long time. Your editing inspired me to complete the copyedit. I have copyedited it now fixing issues you have mentioned above. Chairman is the right title and Akademi spelling is uniform across the article now. Please copyedit it for grammar and other mistakes. Regards,--Nizil (talk) 06:29, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Nizil Shah: It now looks a very good article. I have tidied it up a bit. IMO the lists of chairmen and registrars would make more sense if they went after the organisation section. I would also move the Activities section to immediately after History; I think that most readers will be more interested in what the Akademi does than its internal structure.
I still count 11 people on the 10 member executive council. Gog the Mild (talk) 11:36, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Gog the Mild:, I agree with your restructuring proposal. Will do soon. Gazal world is looking into 11 members issue and will correct it. Thank you for your help. Regards, -Nizil (talk) 15:54, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gazal world. I am thinking of trying to improve Shikwa and Jawab-e-Shikwa, with a view to it being promoted to B class and possibly becoming a GA one day. Would you like to work with me to do this? (And yes, I will look at your recent article soon.) Gog the Mild (talk) 22:01, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Gog the Mild: Hi, glad to see your interest in article about Iqbal's poems. I was thinking the same, as both are my favorite poems. I am with you. As I told you, i am not very good in English, and also poor in paraphrasing. But I will do my best. Cheers. Gazal world (talk) 22:10, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Shikwa and Jawab-e-Shikwa 2

Hi Gazal world. I am about to go to bed, but quick thoughts are that we would need a source for each paragraph, and more, sourced, detail on the critical reception of each poem. Do you have any thoughts on these? Your 'job' I think

We should be able to 'steal' quite a bit of material from the Muhammad Iqbal article - my job. :) And the photograph. Gog the Mild (talk) 22:18, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Gog the Mild: Sure, I will check for sources on JSTOR, Project MUSE and on other places. 'll also manage photographs about topics. It is about 4.00 AM in my India. Good Night. Gazal world (talk) 22:26, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Editor of the Week

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your great contributions to improve articles. (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

Kevin submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

Humbly self-identified on his userpage as "new to Wikipedia", Gazal world has created almost 150 articles and improved many more, primarily related to Gujarati writers. Additionally, he has been a prolific vandalism/pending changes patroller, and also spends lots of time helping other editors at the resource exchange noticeboard, where he has logged 330 edits helping find and deliver sources for editors to create and improve other articles. Despite all of these contributions, it's clear that article improvement is what he's here to do, as nearly 80% of his 5400+ edits are in the mainspace. For these reasons and more, it gives me great joy to nominate Gazal world to be Editor of the Week.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

What a surprise! I was just coming out of a literary event and found a notification. And I come to know that I am an Editor of the Week! Overwhelmed with happiness. When I joined Wikipedia, I do not know that I will be involved this much and will ever get such recognition. I have found support and encouragement from community. I am thankful for it. I have learned a lot from editing Wikipedia and found new capabilities in me. I will continue to contribute more in more projects and more fields. Thank you very much to the wonderful community. And thank you Kevin and Buster7 for making my day. A day to celebrate. Cheers. -Gazal world (talk) 04:29, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A belated congratulations. Your efforts on WP:RX alone are worthy of recognition - the ripple effects of all the sources you provide for other editors' use greatly magnify your own content contributions. Many thanks. -- Paulscrawl (talk) 17:11, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Resource Exchange

Hi Gazal World. I hope that you are keeping well. I have been watching you send out information to editors at the Resource Exchange and it is very impressive. But it brings a question to mind, where do you find it in the first place? Do you live in a national library? Gog the Mild (talk) 22:17, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Gog the Mild: Hi Gog. Most papers and books, I can get from paywalls databases. I have access to several databases through The Wikipedia Library (See my user page). I have access to a physical library (my university library); not so big as national library, but it has large collections of India related books. So sometime it helps me to fulfill India related resource requests. I am also active on German & Russian Resource Exchange page, as 'resource exchange' is my favourite activity (:D). I also run similar RX page on Gujarati Wikipedia, my native language wiki, on which I provide particularly Gujarati language resource for writing articles and books for Gujarati Wikisource. Feel free to ask me if you need any India related resources 'or' resources from paywalls databases. --Gazal world (talk) 07:02, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Whew! You are busy. I have just put a request in, which is when I noticed how often your name crops up.
I tried to join the Wikipedia Library for JSTOR, but it must have been too complicated for me, as my application seems to have disappeared. I may have another go and ask you for help if I get stuck. Gog the Mild (talk) 12:01, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nalakhyan

Hello Gazal World! Just letting you know that I've accepted your WP:GOCE/REQ request to copy edit Nalakhyan. As always, I'll ask if I have any questions, and please let me know if you have any questions or comments on any of the copy editing choices. Kind regards - FiveFaintFootprints (talk) 15:21, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@FiveFaintFootprints: Hey. I was about to message you for this article. And received message from you. Wow.. I thought that you are busy in real life.
You copy-edited my article Bahuk last year. Remember? Nalakhyan has the same characters and same story-line as Bahuk. Hope, you will enjoy it. Thanks. --Gazal world (talk) 15:36, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I've been fairly busy these past weeks. But happily, it's the weekend... Yes, this article looked like an interesting one to work on. Looking forward to it! Best - FiveFaintFootprints (talk) 15:42, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi FiveFaintFootprints. Just to let yo know the meaning of Ashwa-mantra. 'Ashwa' means 'horse', and mantra is a kind of sacred verses. So, Ashwa-mantra = a sacred text that can control horse. --Gazal world (talk) 18:38, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much! I assumed as much from the context, and by analogy with the Sanjeevani Mantra mentioned in Yayati (novel), but couldn't find an article to link to (in that case you had a link to the article on the plant). I might include your description, for clarity, then. I also looked for an article to link for Dwapar at the start of paragraph 4 in the Plot section. Again, you would be better placed than me to identify a suitable link or brief description, for context.
Another thing I'll do is add to the description of the source text Nalopakhyana in the Mahabharata, from Bahuk where the explanation is more detailed. And I changed the link for Ayodhya (in Characters, under Rituparna) to the article on the legendary city rather than modern Ayodhya.
If you disagree with any modification I make, please don't hesitate to correct it!
FiveFaintFootprints Please do so. There is no article to which Dwapara could be linked. Just add (Kali's companion). It would be enough. Thanks. --Gazal world (talk) 19:21, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Will do - thanks! - FiveFaintFootprints (talk) 19:34, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again - just to let you know I've completed the copy edit. As ever, I'm happy to work on any sections you may add to, or that you think need further work.
I'm also accepting your WP:GOCE/REQ for Nawal Kishore Press. Best - FiveFaintFootprints (talk) 16:11, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi FiveFaintFootprints That's great. Believe me. Your copy-editing is really cool. The article looks great. Thank you very much for accepting Nawal Kishore Press. --Gazal world (talk) 16:17, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for such kind words! I'm learning a lot from your articles and always enjoy copy-editing them. You're doing a wonderful job of chronicling the Gujarati literary world on Wikipedia. FiveFaintFootprints (talk) 16:23, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just a note that I've completed the copy edit of Nawal Kishore Press. Again, let me know if any part of the text needs further work, and feel free to change any of the editing choices. Kind regards - FiveFaintFootprints (talk) 20:36, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much FiveFaintFootprints. I will add some more info. in this article. I will let you know.
I am working on User:Gazal world/Fasana-e-Azad, and I have planned to make it GA. It would not be possible without your help. I will ping you once the article be completed. --Gazal world (talk) 16:24, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Featured article

Hey Gog the Mild. Hope, you are doing well. I want to promote Manilal Dwivedi to FA status. Could you tell me what should I do? Since no article of any Indian writers has gained FA status, I am very keen to make this article FA, and 'll do anything required for it. Thanks. --Gazal world (talk) 14:53, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gazal world, how are you? Out of lockdown? You will need a mentor/advisor if you are aiming for FAC, but I am not sure if I am a good person. I have never taken a biography above GA and have never done serious work on anything literary. I suspect that I would let you down. Obviously, as I have with many of your articles including this one, I would be happy to copy edit for prose, flow and MoS and offer general advice, but I think that you could do with someone more at home with this area. Looking down the list of potential mentors two catch my eye.
Mr Tim riley might suit you well, if they are still doing this sort of thing. Tim, how the devil are you, and can I introduce you to young Gazal world and commend their efforts to you. Might you be able to assist them? Obviously, if time or motivation does not permit, say so.
Gog the Mild (talk) 21:28, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much Gog the Mild. I am waiting for Tim riley's reply. --Gazal world (talk) 11:05, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Gog the Mild: Hey Gog, I am fine, and out of lockdown. Thought my college has not been opened. Hope, you would be fine too. --Gazal world (talk) 17:32, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New page reviewer granted

Hi Gazal world. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. Barkeep49 (talk) 03:38, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, hope you're doing well! As part of NNP, you've tagged the said article for additional citations. As far as i know, the page is properly cited and nothing is unsourced. Which part of the article is unsourced so that i can cite that part accordingly? Thank you! TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 18:09, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @TheBirdsShedTears:. I am good. Thanks for asking. You are doing a great job on Urdu writers. Regrading Nisar Muhammad Khan, I don't see any references at the end of first, second and third paragraphs of 'Career' section. Feel free to remove the tag after fixing the problem. Thanks. --Gazal world (talk) 18:13, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for pointing this out. The first one is cited with [5][6][7] sources, while second and third paragraphs are cited with [1][8] sources. Thank you! TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 18:35, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Reviewer newsletter June 2020

Hello Gazal world,

Your help can make a difference

NPP Sorting can be a great way to find pages needing new page patrolling that match your strengths and interests. Using ORES, it divides articles into topics such as Literature or Chemistry and on Geography. Take a look and see if you can find time to patrol a couple pages a day. With over 10,000 pages in the queue, the highest it's been since ACPERM, your help could really make a difference.

In late February, Google added 5 new languages to Google Translate: Kinyarwanda, Odia (Oriya), Tatar, Turkmen and Uyghur. This expands our ability to find and evaluate sources in those languages.

Discussions and Resources
  • A discussion on handling new article creation by paid editors is ongoing at the Village Pump.
  • Also at the Village Pump is a discussion about limiting participation at Articles for Deletion discussion.
  • A proposed new speedy deletion criteria for certain kinds of redirects ended with no consensus.
  • Also ending with no change was a proposal to change how we handle certain kinds of vector images.
