This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Silcox (talk | contribs) at 19:08, 8 December 2023 (Adding List of mass shootings in the United States in 2024.). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

December 8

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on December 8, 2023.

List of mass shootings in the United States in 2024

I call for the deletion of this redirect to foster article creation. Notice how the convention (at least since 2018) is to have one list per year for American mass shootings (e.g. List of mass shootings in the United States in 2018), so it is probably better to have 2024 redlinked for now. Silcox (talk) 19:08, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Romani people in Central Asia

This is a recently created redirect, and reading the target article it does not seem appropriate. The target article includes "Russian Roma emphasize that the Lyuli are distinct from them and not part of the Romani society and culture", "confused with European Romani". It quotes a source as saying "Uzbeks refer to them, often with contempt, as Lyuli or Gypsies, though there is scant genetic evidence linking them to the world's Roma diaspora". There is a possible link referred to regarding Turkish Roma, but the abstract of the source cited suggests that "gypsy" was used for groups that were not Roma as well, which seems in line with the article text and quoted source. Island subpage redirects

Unnecessary subpage redirect which the articles haven't been at since September 2002. In the case of the Small Isles one though its existed since July 2002 its always been a redirect. While camel case redirects are kept I don't think this is with subpage redirects. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:16, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

LGBTQ+ Production of Family

Speedy deletion as a recently created, implausible redirect was denied. Unlikely search term, and the pre-redirect contents don't seem to have been used to merge anything, so no need to retain them. Fram (talk) 14:00, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Useless, name of the redirect makes no sense. "LGBTQ+ Production of Family" sounds like Family is something you can mine/farm. SouthParkFan2006 (talk) 14:24, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as simply implausible. Alextejthompson (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 14:25, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Revert and send to AfD. When seeing the title I expected this to be about a theatre production or something like that. There is far too much old article content to delete it here though - that absolutely needs discussion at AfD. Thryduulf (talk) 18:00, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Revert & AfD per Thryduulf. I agree that there’s too much old content here to delete at RfD. In my opinion, whether or not the historical content should be deleted is much more suited to a discussion/assessment at AfD than here - as the action to create the redirect was a WP:BLAR, there hasn’t yet been a consensus decision on the previous content. Best, user:A smart kittenmeow 18:22, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • If people insist on AfD, so be it. However, let's not exaggerate the "far too much old article content" please. The article was moved to mainspace on 4 December[1], with text copied (without attribution) from other articles, e.g. whole sections from Artificial insemination. Fram (talk) 18:35, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki table

This redirect was targeting mainspace for the last decade since its creation, but was retargeted to the meta page today. The retarget was done by the closer of the RfD for wikitable, and the intent may have been to make this consistent with the 2-year old wikitable (without the space) redirect. wikitable had earlier been deleted as an cross-namespaced orphan, and the recent RfD ended with no consensus.

If there is no good target that covers tables associated with wikis or wiki software (which only has a one-word mention of tables), I would suggest deletion than targeting to a cross-namespace Wikipedia page. Jay 💬 10:38, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • How do you see Wiki table as different from Wikitable, given that Wikitable has already been discussed? -- Tavix (talk) 15:11, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Apart from the space, I see this RfD as different from the earlier because it was a combined discussion of wikitable and Wikipedia Tables there. Jay 💬 14:48, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is very bad. Mainspace pages on Wikipedia should not link to project pages. The correct redirect for "wikitable" or "wiki table" is to "wikisoftware" or "wiki software". Searching mainspace is for encyclopedic content about wikitables, wikimarkup, and wikisoftware, and not for project-specific help pages about wikitables as used on Wikipedia. Using the space or not does not change the meaning. Nicole Sharp (talk) 17:44, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete This does not warrant a cross-namespace redirect and isn't discussed with sufficient substance at the mainspace target. Wikitable should also have been deleted IMO. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:23, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to the dab page at Table. Those searching for Wikipedia's content about tables of any kind will find the link there, those searching for information about tables on Wikipedia will find a link to the project space page there. Thryduulf (talk) 20:15, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete They may be looking for an actual topic, like [2] which is not what the disambiguation page would cover, since "Wiki table" is not just "table" -- 65.92.247.90 (talk) 05:11, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • It seems very unlikley that that is notable and so is irrelevant to our decision here. In the event that it is, then it can be added to the disambiguation page when content is written. Thryduulf (talk) 20:54, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Garnier fruits

Unclear target. Don't know how this brand relates to either the Indian film or Indian reality series. Natg 19 (talk) 18:33, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget Garnier fruits to Garnier, which has a line of fruit-based products (even though this is not yet mentioned in the stubby article). Delete the other two. BD2412 T 18:56, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unplausible and unnecessary redirect. We don't have the redirects "Tr0mp" or "B1den" either. Also, "0bama" is never used as a slang, when you search it on Google nothing about it appears. 2023 Rainbow Bridge loss-of-control Bentley crash resulting in fiery explosion

Proposing deletion: this redirect title is (in my opinion) too descriptive/includes too many details to be a useful search term. The target section also (at least currently) doesn’t mention the make of car; and the inclusion of loss of control in the title implies that this is what caused the crash, when (as far as I can see) that’s not yet been officially determined. Best, user:A smart kittenmeow 10:01, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. I'm usually in favour of keeping weird "alternative names" but this is just absurd. Cremastra (talk) 13:04, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - wildly unnecessary disambiguation, and WP:CRYSTAL per nom. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 17:21, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per above. If this wasn't created by someone with so much experience as a Wikipedian I would have assumed it was created to make a WP:POINT. Thryduulf (talk) 18:05, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Coyote (pool)

Delete. Not mentioned at target article. I have a source or two that can probably demonstrate that this is a variant of the target game, as played in Mexico, but it's unclear whether it is notable enough for its own article, or non-WP:INDISCRIMINATE enough to include in the target article, and it's not in the latter now. It will remain listed at WP:CUEGAMES as a redlink to consider looking into at some point by WP:WikiProject Cue Sports.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  08:08, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget as per Eureka Lott. The name is an acronym, so the presence of the full stops shouldn't stop this from being a legitimate search term. – Michael Aurel (talk) 11:02, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Delete is my first choice as a Google search doesn't bring anything up for the acronym. If we choose to retarget, I would suggest Wotan (disambiguation), given that the target is unclear. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 04:27, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to The War Machines which says that WOTAN is an acronym, and provides the expansion. Hatnoting to the dab needn't be done as there is no other acronym entry at the dab. As a consequence, also retarget WOTAN. Tag as {{R from acronym}}. Jay 💬 08:41, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fast Lane(Bad Meets Evil Song)

Delete per WP:RDAB due to the lack of space between the title and the disambiguator. The title with the correct spacing, Fast Lane (Bad Meets Evil Song), is a redirect that targets the same target as the nominated redirect. Steel1943 (talk) 07:18, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Altrincham and Sale(UK Parliament constituency)

Newton(unit)

Process(business)

Delete per WP:RDAB due to the lack of space between the title and the disambiguator. The title with the correct spacing, Process (business), is a redirect that targets the same target as the nominated redirect. Steel1943 (talk) 07:05, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Data(Star Trek)

Delete per WP:RDAB due to lack of space between the title and the disambiguator. The version of the title with proper spacing is the target page. Steel1943 (talk) 06:46, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

List of things named after King Abdullah

There is no primary topic for "King Abdullah". Also, there are things named after Abdullah of Pahang, Malaysia's present Yang di-Pertuan Agong (monarch). Moreover, there is also a stub list regarding things named after King Abdullah II of Jordan (which should probably be merged into our main article on the King). Either way, it is debatable whether things named after King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia should be the primary topic for the redirect. Silcox (talk) 05:30, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Université station

This redirect targets a dab page titled "University station", but out of all the stations featured in that dab page, none of them is named "Université". Although there exists several Wikipedia articles that speak of stations that has "Université" in its name (e.g. Nanterre-Université station), they aren't known as "Université" alone. Silcox (talk) 05:22, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Process(OS)

Delete per WP:RDAB due to the extra space between the title and the disambiguator. The title with the correct spacing, Process (OS), does not exist. Steel1943 (talk) 03:59, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Process (information system development)

This redirect could be considered misleading since the name of the disambiguator, Information system development, has no existing redirect and/or article to define it, though Information systems development did exist at one point, but was deleted in 2005. Also, this redirect is a {{R with history}} as a article created in 2006 and was subject to a WP:BLAR in 2007.) Steel1943 (talk) 03:56, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Process(isd)

Delete per WP:RDAB due to the las of space between the title and the disambiguator. Its properly-spaced variant doesn't not exist, but it probably should not anyways; per tracing through how this redirect was created, history here was moved to Process (information system development), however the subject most likely mentioned in the aforementioned redirect's disambiguator does not exist: Information system development has never existed, but Information systems development has but was deleted in 2005 for a reason that is not really clear. Steel1943 (talk) 03:51, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Process(computing)

Delete per WP:RDAB due to lack of space between the title and the disambiguator. The proper title and spacing is present in the redirect's target. Steel1943 (talk) 03:45, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2000 South Korean Census

Target section does not exist. In addition, I've looked around Wikipedia, and I'm not seeing any existent articles of mentions about censuses that take place in South Korea. Steel1943 (talk) 03:40, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Early European population statistics and censuses

The redirect has good amount of issues. For one, it is unclear what "Early European" means, considering the target does not define it and Early European does not exist. Thus, the subject of this redirect seems to not be defined in the target article. Lastly, there could be an WP:XY issue since Population statistics and Census are two separate articles. Lastly ... however, this redirect is a {{R with history}} as the result of a WP:BLAR in 2010. Steel1943 (talk) 01:42, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment skim-reading that old content, it looks like an essay about this history of demography in Europe so I think the nom is bracketing the title wrong - it's (Early) (European population statistics and censuses) rather than (Early European) (population statistics and censuses), so that part of the nomination statement isn't correct, and a Demography article would resolve the XY issues. Demographics of Europe#History is the closest thing I've found to content that matches the subject, but I'm torn between retargetting there and reverting the BLAR in favour of an AfD (while at first glance it seems a sure delete, those with subject matter knowledge I don't have may see something salvageable in it. Thryduulf (talk) 02:01, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator comment: Early european population statistics and censuses added to this discussion. For what it's worth, this redirect has no edit history. Steel1943 (talk) 03:35, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Early European population

Unclear how this term redirecting where it does is helpful, especially considering its target and since Early European does not exist and is thus not defined. However, this redirect has history as an article during 2006–07 prior to being subject to a merge into Early European population statistics and censuses (which is currently a redirect as well) in response to a WP:PROD. Steel1943 (talk) 01:36, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. The current target is definitely wrong. My first thought is that this could refer to historical peoples of Europe, but that could relate to Cro-Magnon (where European early modern humans redirects), or many of the articles in the sidebar at Prehistoric Europe - indeed if that were an actual template rather than being compiled just for that article it would not make a bad target for this redirect. Maybe it could form the basis of a dab page? Thryduulf (talk) 01:50, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Track Cycling(sport)

Delete per WP:RDAB due to lack of space between title and disambiguator. However, neither variant with proper spacing and/or capitalization changes, Track Cycling (sport) or Track cycling (sport), exist. Steel1943 (talk) 01:31, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. This has received exactly two hits this year, so it's not helping anyone by its existence. Either of the correctly spaced alternatives would be fine if someone wants to create them, but that someone isn't going to be me (we don't need redirects from every possible title with unnecessary disambiguation, and I can't think of anything it could be ambiguous with). Thryduulf (talk) 01:40, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. There is no other use for Track Cycling so a dab in not needed. Paulpat99 (talk) 03:04, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as unlikely, per nom.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  08:17, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

1-over-1

This doesn't seem to be a particularly used phrase and this is not discussed at the article other than a 3d model of a 1-over-1 condo, but I cannot find usage of the term much in general in this context (however I possibly searched for the wrong things in WP:BEFORE). With the lack of common usage and lack of discussion in the article, this would probably be best deleted. TartarTorte 01:04, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

This is an example of a one-liner joke that makes use of this fallacy. The problem, however, is that this phrase is not ever referred to at the target article in any capacity, nor would it be a likely search term... mainly for the aspect of "what would one expect to get from typing this". There are no redirects that are similar to this, and Wikipedia does not seem like the place to type in a punchline into a search bar and have it redirect to the crux of how it works. Utopes (talk / cont) 00:59, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment I can imagine someone searching for this famous example and looking it up to find out what the type of thing it is is called, so I think it is a plausible search term. However, it isn't mentioned at the target and I'm not completely convinced that it is an example of an overwhelming exception fallacy (i.e. I'm not sure it's the right target). I need to think more on this when I'm more awake. Thryduulf (talk) 01:27, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • PS: searching for "Mrs. Lincoln" "overwhelming exception" -Wikipedia finds only two hits, a Reddit page that doesn't seem to include either phrase, and [3] which doesn't contain either phrase in the preview available. Thryduulf (talk) 01:35, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
