To do list

The following sections are intended to help task force members collaborate effectively by identifying articles that need attention, working on those articles, and recording our progress. Add new entries to the bottom.

Corporations

  1. Barrick Gold: Revise section on environmental record to provide actual sources about problematic practices in Papa New Guinea

Officials

  1. Al Gore
  2. David Miliband: Add environmental record section
  3. James Connaughton:
    1. Remove unsourced and inaccurate paragraph that starts: "Connaughton has extensive experience helping organizations large and small become responsible environmental stewards"
    2. Clarify his role at Sidley, Austin, Brown, and Wood, where he lobbied to reduce government regulations
    3. Add information about controversial edits to governmental reports on climate change. See here
  4. Mark Rey: Write article for Mark Rey, former timber lobbyist who is now the Under Secretary for Natural Resources and the Environment.

Organizations

  1. Democratic Party (United States): Should the section on environmental issues be separate from economic issues? Environment seems broader than economic only. Maybe environment should have its own section.
  2. George W. Bush administration: This article could be cleaned up to include a section on the Bush administration's environmental record.
  3. U.S. Department of the Interior: The DOI is in charge of most U.S. environmental policies. A controversy section should be added to this entry regarding the policy of appointing officials with strong ties to the industries they are supposed to regulate.

Issues

  1. Fast Food, criticisms section: This information should be split out into a separate environmental impact section, as it is more accurate to discuss the "criticisms" of fast food in the context of well-documented impacts on agriculture, deforestation, global warming, etc.
  2. Coal mining: The current environmental impact section still needs a little help with some sources.
  3. Carbon neutrality: There is an article on Carbon offsets, but it seems like carbon neutrality should have its own entry. See this report for more information.
  4. David Suzuki Foundation: check POV and add more references
