Welcome to the User page of Anomie. Some but not all of the Anomies you may encounter around the Internet are me.
Interests
My Wikipedia-related interests include video game systems from the 16-bit era, standardized user warning templates, and taking care of various tasks with my bot, AnomieBOT. I also submit bugs and patches to MediaWiki's bugzilla, and if I really feel like it I'll occasionally convert an image to SVG. If you need to know something about the SNES or have an interesting bot task, I may be your person.
Someday, if I ever get motivated enough, I would like to rewrite WP:OR, WP:RS, and WP:V. Even though the rewrites would probably stay as essays in my userspace forever.
I watch WP:BOTREQ, or you could make the request on my talk page or the bot's talk page. General categories of tasks I can easily code include:
Replacing one template with another, or removing templates.
In particular, I can usually get speedy approval for removing banners for obsolete WikiProjects, and optionally adding a taskforce parameter to the parent project's banner.
Manipulating template parameters.
Changing external links, e.g. replacing wc01.allmusic.com with allmusic.com.
Other tasks I could do easily enough, but am unlikely to do:
Archiving talk pages; there are plenty of existing bots that do this.
Adding WikiProject banners; people with AWB are likely to do it quicker.
Some tasks are just not appropriate for the type of bot I run:
Anything that is best done by downloading the entire database and processing it offline.
Anything involving wikis other than en.wikipedia.
Anything requiring admin permissions.
Feel free to ask about any task, even if it is or isn't listed above.
History
Many years ago, I decided "anomie" would be a nice name for a computer. A few years later, I had decided to abandon my old 'net handle, and I couldn't come up with a new one I liked; in the interim, I borrowed the name of my computer. I never did come up with a new handle, I'm just "anomie" now.
While the contrast between the definition of "anomie" and the nature of a computer is somewhat amusing, when it comes to me it's just a name.
Trivia
The computer "anomie" still exists, despite it being over 10 years old. Among other things, it provides a platform for AnomieBOT.
My main computer these days, though, is a laptop named "akathisia". Again, an amusing contrast.

I didn't know the bot can rescue refs from other articles! I like to think that my proper edit summary helped the bot find the ref, but I imagine it's much smarter than that. (Hopefully not too smart =)
