From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 89.216.236.45 (talk) at 06:17, 21 December 2008 (→‎2007). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

This is a partial list of Iraqi security forces members killed in the Iraq War. There are also totals here for each year.

The "Iraq Index" of the Brookings Institution also keeps a running total of Iraqi security force casualties.[1]

The totals for some time periods in this list below may be higher than the Brookings Institution's Iraq Index. This is because among the listed dead here are also official and would-be police and army recruits who were considered to be the enemy by the insurgents and so were also targeted.

Besides serving as an indicator of some of the numbers of policemen and soldiers deaths during specific time periods, this article allows readers to investigate the circumstances of those deaths by reading the citation articles. It also allows readers and researchers to investigate patterns in the type of tactics by insurgents and the coalition.

Totals

Through November 2 2008 approximately 7,156 policemen and 3,748 soldiers were reported to have been killed. Another 68 policemen and 21 soldiers are missing/captured and most likely dead.
