Wanli Emperor image

Hello. I've contacted you before about the Zhengde Emperor image that was up for deletion for not having a proper source. Well, recently I wanted to use your Wanli Emperor image, but it too lacks a source. I was wondering if you could please add the source to that image as well, otherwise I cannot use it. Thank you!--Pericles of AthensTalk 17:11, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gotcha; in fact, I found the source not long after I left you this message.--Pericles of AthensTalk 16:27, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Before changing back the revisions again, please go to the official site of the Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall, and see for yourself what name it has on it. In case you don't know the site:http://www.cksmh.gov.tw/cks/eduweb-utf8/tw/index.php. It says quite clearly, what the official name is now. JoshuaKuo (talk) 18:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:ITRI.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:ITRI.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 03:09, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. As I have found your uploaded image of Faina Chiang Fang-liang without a specific source, I have searched images by entering "蔣方良" into Google and found it cropped from a 1944 photo. To prepare moving it to Wikimedia Commons, it will be much better if you are able to explain how you got the image uploaded more than three years old, such as web address or scan. For now, I have explained the year based on what I have found with Google. Thanks.--Jusjih (talk) 03:29, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Zhao_Ziyang.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:06, 2 August 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 (talk) 18:06, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Dodd.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

Image copyright problem with Image:Hua-guofeng.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Hua-guofeng.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

CALL TO REFORM: Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Chinese), ---4--- Names of groups

CALL TO REFORM: Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Chinese), ---4--- Names of groups

My point is that the linguistics box should include the romanizations appliable to the correspondent chinese characters, both in simplified and traditional chinese... For instance, in the ROC, we can see IN THE LINGUISTICS BOX both the simplified and the traditional form, and the appliable transliterations: In the country infobox we only see the traditional variant, CAUSE THATS THE OFFICIAL ONE THERE... DPP has its own linguistics box and its own political party box, where we only see the traditional variant, the same applies to some newspapers, TV channels... and so on...

Im interested in such a move, cause there is no a clear standard.. just today another contributor suggested to undo my reform of the "KMT" page, cause i added a lingustics infobox, with wiktionary links, and erased the simplified fomr FROM THE POLITICAL INFOBOX, where it shouldn't be... If we add simplified to the political party infobox, we should add simplified too to the ROC country infobox, where its not the official script, and well, that makes no sense...

I dunno if I should ask for support, or just unilaterally declare it a new policy... If somebody created that infobox, well, y dont we use it? Gumuhua (talk) 17:30, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Sun Ke.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Sun Ke.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 10:39, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for File:Cixi.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Cixi.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Hey

How's it going. We've talked in the past. I was wondering, as a fellow China History Project member, if you would offer advice on how to improve the Han Dynasty page. I recently rewrote it and think it looks good, but, figuratively speaking, that nice piece of furniture could still use some extra polishing. Lol. Thanks.--Pericles of AthensTalk 19:42, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting your talk page

Terribly sorry! I was deleting User talk:Jiang. and I somehow got your page too. I've restored it now.

Just to let you know that I recently copied the above image that you uploaded to Wikipedia over to WikiMedia Commons, the Wikimedia central media repository for all free media. The image was either individually tagged or was in a category tagged with the {{Copy to Wikimedia Commons}} template. Your image is now available to all Wikimedia projects at the following location: Commons:File:Cabinet mtg (12.11.2003).jpg. The original version of the image uploaded to Wikipedia has been tagged with WP:CSD#F8. Orphaned non-free media (File:Qian Xueshen.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Qian Xueshen.jpg.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:35, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Development Hell

I have nominated Development Hell, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Development Hell. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

May 2009

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Request for help

I thought it might be a good idea to run a contest or two through the Countries WikiProject to attract editors to improve country coverage on Wikipedia, especially the country outlines.

I noticed you are a member of the WikiProject, and was wondering if you could help.

I've posted a message at Countries WikiProject talk page to get discussion started on what the awards programs should be and how they should be run.

Your ideas and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Fair use rationale for File:Emilio_G._Segre.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Emilio_G._Segre.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 02:28, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Chongzhen.jpg.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Proposed Removal of all non de jure diplomatic Missions in List Articles

I would like to seek your view as to whether we should eliminate from the lists of diplomatic missions by sending/receiving countries all references to representative offices of sending states that do not have formal diplomatic missions with the host states. This would affect a large number of articles which relate to Taiwan, Palestine, Kosovo and other states. Please provide your views here. File:Mike Honda.jpg needs authorship information.

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Mike Honda.jpg is missing information as to it's authorship, or if such information is provided it is confusing.

If possible, please add or clarify this information. This will help other editors to make better use of the image, and it will be more informative for readers.

When adding authorship information to self published work please do NOT use describers such as 'I made this', 'own-work' , 'self-made' or personal names, without making your user name explicit.

The article Roger Clinton, Jr. has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

not notable brother of a notable person

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. File permission problem with File:ROC local election 200512.png

Thanks for uploading File:ROC local election 200512.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too.
