The Kinky Kwartet

I would like to know why the Kinky Kwartet page was deleted. They are a legitimate band that is notable. They have been on Djibouti's top ten list which I believe satisfies that they are notable (WPBAND). I see no reason for the page to have been deleted.

The Free University Movement =

There appears to be spammers who advertise yogurt and other products deleting articles about the Free Open College and Free Open University movement. Thousands of people around the world are joining the free University movement but some do not believe that the "unfit" should have access to free university education. Some have other motivations to remove all references to the Free University Movement. MIT's open courseware is neither free nor open. It is typical for their open course to have no content and only refer the learner to a list of hundreds of dollars of MIT and other textbook publications. Wikipedia spammed their textbook selling scam while deleting all references to real free content such as UC Berkeley pod casts etc.

Apparently, the site now shows a chart without the /0 part. I find it less likely that the chart was changed so quickly than that the site covered its rear end by photoshopping the image and burying any trace of criticism. Hi. Thanks for keeping an eye out for spam articles!

I removed the speedy tag since the article asserts notability with the links to reviews in magazines. It still has a lot of problems, however, which I have tagged.

When you "speedy" an article, it's always good to give article creators a {{spam-warn}} notice warning them of imminent deletion:

  1. It's a courtesy
  2. It gives them feedback on what not to do if they want to recreate the article
  3. It leaves a record of the deletion on the user's talk page should he add more of the same articles in the future.

AfD for Wilmington Montessori School

Andrew, You initially and correctly put a Speedy on my first wikipedia article - Wilmington Montessori School - this past Saturday. I began my first wiki entry (for WMS) by viewing most of the other articles for sister schools in the Mid-Atlantic region. At the time, I was unaware of WP:WAX and WP:N, as such, my first entries mirrored many of those articles and did not carry much weight for notability even though I was providing as much or more information than other representative schools (again, unaware of WP:WAX .. and WP:V, WP:N, WP:RS, and even the proposed guideline Wikipedia:Notability (schools) that could provide at least a minimal starting point for a proper article). Since that time I have been reviewing many of the WP policies and guidelines and have also been revising the article with the help of other editors and have completed the following,

  • Two other editors cleaned up any promotional material. I also removed a debatable claim that was not backed with secondary sources.
  • Several secondary sources have been added.
  • Two additional references regarding national grants - the first by the US Environmental Protection Agency; and, the second by Toyota and the National Science Teacher's Association.
  • Added Montessori Life reference that "Wilminglon [sic] Montessori School ... Delaware's oldest and largest Montessori school..." [1]

With the additional recent work toward establishing notability and the additional comments by other experienced editors, I would appreciate if you could review Wilmington Montessori School, Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_deletion/Wilmington_Montessori_School, and Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Wilmington_Montessori_School and provide your opinion.

Hello.

Comradio is not an attempt to blatantly advertise a for-profit organization. It is part of an education institution and teaches students the fundemenals of Radio. I would ask for help in creating a better page rather than deleting it immediately because ComRadio is a well known station that many people may want to learn more about.

Hi, you put a Speedy Delete tag on Reporting House this afternoon, which was removed by the writer. I tagged it this evening (not realising you had already done so) and it was again removed. The big problem here is that the original creation of this article was a spammy effort to WP:COATRACK an ad for somebody's parent company, which sells this vile service. I have nothing against using it as a redirect, since the COI is thus defeated, and it's pretty clear that the term is in use by the Evil Empire, among others, independent of the spammer's employer. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:09, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Pet Airways page deletion

You deleted the Pet airways page claiming that is was selling a organization and that is not a note worthy item that belongs in an encyclopedia. I think the first commercial pet airline is beyond noteworthy and i changed the article from sounding like it was selling to making it educational. proposed museum deletion

Hi AndrewWTaylor, a few days ago you proposed Gounaropoulos Museum for deletion. Dr.Blofeld's stubs and his subsequent efforts have caused an amazing amount of articles to come alive, both in Films and Geography. Many of them however are doomed, and since you brought up the above mentioned stub, there is an awful lot more exactly like it under Category:Museums in Greece. Being familiar with Greek, I have attempted comparing with the Greek wikipedia's lists of museums, and visited as many links as I could find to determine notability. Few of these "dictionary-type" stubs are worth developing, but most should be condensed in a list IMO, if anything. How do you think is best to go about this cleanup? Andrew,

Thank you for replying to my message contesting deletion under the category of "unambiguous advertising". I have read the guidelines you referred to and was very careful to follow correct formatting and refrain from any opinions negative or positive, in order to remain neutral and informative.

To be honest, I'm honestly sad to say that I'm losing faith in Wikipedia. I thought it was for everyone, for anyone, to share any neutral information that allowed people to find out more (about more stuff), in one place.

Well, there is so much unwarranted negativity and red tape that it feels like it's just not worth it. I feel that I should be telling everyone how contributing within the guidelines of Wikipedia (as I have done) is a big waste of time (I don't want to... but that's how I feel).

This is very frustrating. Could you please actually tell me how that page qualified as unambiguous advertising? Because if not, then shouldn't it be undeleted?

When someone has put hard work into creating a totally neutral and informative page, I don't understand how an admin can delete it without providing even a single specific and referenced reason. And without a chance for meangingful discussion. How can we possibly help the community to grow within the guidelines and spirit of Wikipedia and keep in check anyone who might otherwise impede it's growth and good nature (making unwarranted claims and imposing unfair penalties on honest contributors).

I feel that I'm trying to make an honest and valuable contribution and that at present I'm surrounded by bullies who answer to no-one. Is that the spirit under which Wikipedia was created or is supposed to be administered?

Dear friendly editor Andrew,

I kindly ask you to revert your move as for the image deleted or replace it for a more suitable one once you think it doesn't fit the place. As a more experienced editor than I am, you know that unless clearly better or more appropriate images are available, the existing images in the article should be left in place (Wikipedia:Layout#Images).

Knowing that your concern as for the improvement of the articles listed in Wiki is noticeable, I assume that you agree that delition is indeed a step backwards. Yes, I entirely agree with you that the image in question may not be suitable for the article, so if you can't or don't want to make it any better, please, don't delete it. There are hundreds of images that you can place there, all at you disposal. You can choose any one you wish, one that you like, and I will struggle to keep it there for you.

Yes, I was called attention on many subjects here in Wiki, but I didn't take this as an offence or enough reason to get mad at those who called my attention to the problem. Instead, I followed their advice and made them my friends.

Hi Andrew, I have read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:EXT and it seems to me that the Clef Cleaner webpage is an excellent candidate for an external link. It is not, as you say, a "blog post", but rather a webpage like all the other links with Wordpress used only as a framework. If you read the content you will find that it suggests a much better system for musical notation than any of the other "alternative" notations mentioned. I would go so far as to say this theory deserves its own section in the article, while most of the other links you have approved are personal webpages that bring nothing new to the table, some are full of ads, some are webshops. Hi -- I think I'm being hacked because I couldn't get through this morning at all. My page has some signs on it that are not fair because all that has been inserted on the text are updates. The decision made by Judge J. Spencer Letts is in the Supreme Court Appeal and it's a matter of record, no one can dispute that. Everything else is correct.

On my grandfather Jose Luis Chinea -- When one deals with Cuban issues, such as my grandfather Colonel Chinea, one must understand that Cuba is a closed totalitarian country not unlike North Korea with which Cuba maintains diplomatic relations -- communication with the island is restricted for exiles and their relatives, so the government NEVER responded to my request for information about my grandfather, which is not unusual -- I'm going to try to post a picture of my grandfather here in full regalia -- that's as close as I get vis-a-vis corroboration. Most Cubans have nothing left here of their past because the Cuban government doesn't allow paperwork when one flees and sometimes it becomes impossible to carry such paperwork on an inner tube, as you may imagine. Well, I can't figure out a way to get a photo posted -- can you show me how? It's a shortcut on my desktop.

Old business that has resurfaced and because of that, this is for the record -- just in case.

There was an article in which the Judge assigned to the case against the WGAW and CBS was quoted as making the statement "if you can get something for half-pay why would you pay full price." The piece was deleted by unknown. However, it is quoted in the class action Supreme Court Brief and it would not have been quoted if it wasn't a matter of record.

I've been maligned by the Guild and CBS as if I had done something wrong and as if I had opposed "affirmative action." The Guild -- along with CBS -- have all the power and money.

Here's what I did: I opposed half-pay in the name of "affirmative action" and thought that it was used as a cynical ploy to demean Hispanics, obfuscate the truth and squelch dissent.

I must also point out that I was blacklisted in the industry to this day and that some Hispanics benefited for going along with the WGAW/CBS half-pay program and they also benefited for speaking out against me. In my view, the half-pay program was nothing more than a publicity stunt to artificially increase employment stats. As deplorable as that can be -- it's dog eat dog out there and since Hispanics are discriminated, not only does the Guild, and the rest pit, one against the other, but Hispanics themselves will do whatever it takes to get ahead -- even if that means sentencing another Hispanic to unemployment and oblivion.

My conscience is clear, but my bank account reflects the consequences of this back backstabbing. I have resurfaced as a UCLA Grad film student and have not allowed their combined behavior to impede my aspirations or ambitions -- even though I'm fully cognizant that they have put me through hell unnecessarily and that I'm paying for having opposed discrimination -- paying with my purse and my time and my health, by being humiliated. Paying, when professors who dislike uppity Hispanics make disparaging comments. Paying for not abiding to instructions that I not talk about myself.

Still paying.

Hello, I reverted your Bounty edits because "it is hoped" is passive voice and not as succinct as "hopefully," the adjective "singleminded" for Bligh is more straightforward than making an adverb out of it and thus needing to add a comma, and it was a difficult voyage. I like the repetition of "difficult" for the same reason I like "It's a dirty story of a dirty man and his clinging wife doesn't understand."
