Deletion of my page: "Selisse Berry"

Hello, You recently deleted my page titled "Selisse Berry" which I was in progress of expanding. Selisse Berry is the founding executive director the of largest LGBT Workplace Advocacy group in the United States. She is a trailblazer in LGBT equality and we have received many requests from our constituents to provide information about her on Wikipedia. Can you please restore the page that you deleted so that I may properly expand the entry? Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ajkeating (talkcontribs) 18:27, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinator?

Will you be re-standing as a coordinator? I haven't seen you fill in your standing for reelection tab at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Coordinators/September 2010, and given that we still have room for a few more candidates to be elected/reelected I was curious to know if you were going to stand again. I would personally be very happy to welcome you back, but if you would prefer not to stand again I can certainly understand that. TomStar81 (Talk) 20:10, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm happy to see you've decided to stand again; even if you aren't reelected (and I don't know why you wouldn't be) I think that it helps the moral of the project members to have as many options as possible in the coordinator tranche makeup. TomStar81 (Talk) 02:44, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Thomas Scott Adams

Hello,

I do not understand why my article was deleted. Thomas Scott Adams is a real person who ran for the Thousand Oaks City Counsel.

Sincerely, Jess —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.89.173.120 (talk) 03:42, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The subject of your article was clearly not suitable for inclusion. Being real is no threshold (I'm real and so are you, but we don't deserve articles), and running for a Council seat in a city of less than a quarter-million, and losing, with no other notable accomplishments, doesn't merit someone a Wikipedia article. Compare for example, the amount of candidates who have pages in the latest Ottawa municipal election for a metropolis of around 1 million people. Out of 25 candidates, only 5 have articles (1 was a provincial minister and former mayor, 1 was the former mayor and a prominent business man, and the other 3 were all long-time politicians, of which one is also a noted author, another was a mayor of a (now) suburb of Ottawa, while the last was an member of the provincial parliament). The other candidates are like your Thomas Scott Adams, they ran, didn't make it, but seem to have done little else of significance outside of the city. I'm sure that Thomas Scott Adams is a very agreeable person, but he doesn't meet our notability guidelines for politicians, unless you can prove he has received massive amounts of press coverage. Sorry, --Patar knight - chat/contributions 03:54, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

HLIND

why did you delete hawk light ind —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zacked101 (talkcontribs) 03:59, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Timothy Allison

Hello, Would it be appropriate to write an article about Tim Allison? He ran against Elton Gallegly, but lost. He is mentioned in the article "United States House of Representatives elections in California, 2010, but there is no separate article on him.

Thanks, 76.89.173.120 (talk) 05:07, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As a rule of thumb, losing candidates in relatively minor elections who don't receive extraordinary press coverage (e.g. Christine O'Donnell-esque) generally don't have articles, unless they've done something else of note. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Toby turner requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Why

Why did you undo my edits to santa claus, it was informative, in neutral point of view and cited. Why undo it, it was constructive to this site? I demand to know!59.154.42.136 (talk) 04:38, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't helpful. The tradition of Santa giving coal is already mentioned five times in the article , including one reference in the lede itself, so adding it is repetitive. It also brings undue weight to this rather minor tradition which isn't there in all cultures that have a Santa in them. Lastly, IMDB is not a reliable source, so it's not cited.--Patar knight - chat/contributions 04:47, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of da bomb

I created da bomb (which you speedied under G2) as a genuine {{wi}} redirect page. The redirect may not be desirable, but in any case it was definitely not a test page. (I accept that I accidentally typed {{subst:longcontent}} instead of {{subst:longcomment}}, but such an error does not make it a test page.)

I wish to re-create the page, but I will not do so without your advice. — This, that, and the other (talk) 06:14, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, it seems that another user removed the {{wi}} template from the page, and made it seem like a test page, since now it only consisted of a non-existant template. I think that your best bet would be to make a disambiguation page at Da bomb, add a short explanation of the term, add all the search results with that in its name (there were at least 3 when I just searched), and then add Template:Wiktionary to that disambiguation page.--Patar knight - chat/contributions 06:29, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You!

The Featured Sound Main Page Proposal Voter Barnstar
I was truly humbled by the overwhelming community support for the recent proposal to place featured sounds on the main page. The proposal closed on Tuesday with 57 people in support and only 2 in opposition.

It should take a few weeks for everything to get coded and tested, and once that is done the community will be presented with a mock up to assess on aesthetic appeal.

Finally, I invite all of you to participate in the featured sounds process itself. Whether you're a performer, an uploader, or just come across a sound file you find top quality, and that meets the featured sound criteria, you can nominate it at Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates. Featured sounds is also looking for people to help assess candidates (also at Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates.)

Thanks again for such a strong showing of support, and I hope to see you at featured sounds in the future.

Articles on Yossi Sheffi and ESI Group

Dear Patar knight,

I have a minor problem that I hope you can help me resolve. I wrote an article on Yossi Sheffi, which one administrator (JohnCD) looked over and suggested I move to the mainspace. After I did so, the article was reviewed by yet another administrator (Bearcat) who made a few helpful changes. Since the article has now been reviewed twice, is it possible for the "this is a new, unreviewed article" template to be removed from the top of the article page? If so, can you do it or tell me how I can do it? And should I restore the categories? It looks like they were removed by Bearcat when he reviewed the article. Thanks!

Also, I wrote an article on the ESI Group, which is posted at my sub-page (".../ESI Group"). I would feel better it it were reviewed before I move it to the mainspace. Would it be possible for you to review it and let me know if you think it's ready for the mainspace now or if there are changes that I should make to it?

Thank you very much!Michael Leeman (talk) 17:03, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Penn State Glee Club Page Deletion

Being a member of the PSU Glee Club, I am curious as to why our ensemble's page deleted. Would you be able to let me know what lead to this deletion and how I could possibly remedy the situation so we can once again have a presence on Wikipedia?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tubajoe0 (talkcontribs) 12:07, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was proposed for deletion and its rationale that it failed to meet our notability guidelines for musical groups and the general notability criteria. Since it was uncontested for seven days, I deleted it according to procedure. If you wish to contest the deletion, I can instantly restore the page for you, but you should verify the club's notability through reliable, third-party sources so it does not get deleted. If no progress has been made, I will submit the article to the Articles for Deletion forum so the community may discuss its deletion. MSU Interview

Dear Patar Knight,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk)
