Your edits were not blocked by the filter. Rather, you were appropriately warned about citing your own work in an article. Then content then disappeared due to the work of other editors. Please discuss the matter with them, such as the one who commented on your talk page, if you would like to get the content back in. Someguy1221 (talk) 07:22, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/List of international cricket centuries by Graeme Smith (filter log)
Description
I had created the submission as Wikipedia:Articles for creation/List of international cricket centuries by Graeme Smith (it had {{subst:submit}} in the first line). The material was split from Graeme Smith so I created the subsmission in the Wikipedia namespace in order to provide attribution (required as per the Creative Commons license used by Wikipedia) on its talk page using {{split to}}. This tripped an edit filter which warned me of a submission without {{subst:submit}} in the first line, but it was not a submission, I was only providing attribution for a submission which already exists in project space.

Altamont Free Concert (filter log)
Description
In Paragraph 7, Sam Cutler is quoted as saying:
"the only agreement there ever was ... the Angels would make sure nobody tampered with the generators, but that was the extent of it. But there was no way 'They're going to be the police force' or anything like that. That's all bollocks."

The correct quote, taken from Dennis Mcnally's Book , "A Long Strange Trip: The Inside History of The Grateful Dead", Page 344, Paragraph 2 is: "[Pete] was absolutely adamant, " said Cutler later, "that nobody hires the Hell's Angels to do fuck all. The only agreement there ever was, basically, was the Angels, if they were going to anything, would make sure that nobody fucked with the generators, but that was the extent of it. And it was $500 worth of beer that we got together for them...But there was no "They're going to be the police force" or anything like that. That's all bollocks, media-generated bullshit. 'The Rolling Stones hired the Hell's Angels is one of the great rock and roll canards." Obviously, the direct quote was misquoted, replacing "fucked" with "tampered", as well as other editing liberties, which seem to put words in Cutler's mouth that were never spoken. In other words, the direct quote was paraphrased and should have been indicated as such, or not included in quotes. Furthermore, Reference #6 states that "A Long Strange Trip: The Inside History of The Grateful Dead" was used as a source, which leads one to only conclude that the author of the Altamont Free Concert Wikipedia article chose to censor history.

The filter does not allow new or anonymous users to use the word "fuck" in an article. But if you insert a censored version of the word, such as f--k, or if you make an {{edit request}} on the article talk page, someone will come along and change it for you. I do not see a way to correct these types of false positives without allowing a flood of vandalism to break through. Someguy1221 (talk) 17:43, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Description
The page says that the name of a song is "Snitches aint..." the actual name of the song is "Bitches ain't Shit", the hook of the song is "bitches ain't shit but hoes n tricks". It also says that Snoop Dog was in the song, which he was not. The page also states that a mixtape released in 2011 is called "Re'd Up" the actual name of the mixtape is "Re Up'd". All of these can be confirmed by an easy google search. I believe that this edit was reported as a false positive due to the vulgar nature of the name of the song. If cuss words are not allowed on wikipedia perhaps the title of the song can be posted as B*tches ain't Sh*t or something of the sort.

Cuss words are absolutely allowed on Wikipedia where appropriate, such as in the title of a song. It's just that new edits aren't allowed to add them. You can instead make an {{edit protected}} request on the article's talk page to have someone make the appropriate change. Make sure to say you can't do it yourself because of a filter. You tried to remove over 20% of a good article. There is a limit to how much of a good article an anonymous user can remove before the edit filter will assume it is vandalism. In any case, had the edit filter not prevented your edit, I can almost guarantee it would have been reverted by another editor within seconds. If you have a problem with certain sections of the article, start a discussion on the article's talk page. -Scottywong| gossip _ 21:16, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, those were not my edits. They were another user's, which had been removed using the rollback tool. There was no discussion about this deletion nor edit summary. According to When To Use Rollback, this was not a permitted use.
Also, I did not see that it was a good article and would have left it alone had I done so. I just assumed that because it violates 4 of the 6 guidelines for a "good article" that it wasn't. It is not concise, goes into unnecessary detail, exhibits edit warring, and is insufficiently illustrated. My bad. 65.217.137.4 (talk) 21:39, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This particular edit filter doesn't care if they were your edits or not, it only cares if an anonymous user adds or removes a huge section of text from a good or featured article. Your best option to prevent running up against the edit filter in the user is to register an account. -Scottywong| converse _ 22:46, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New and anonymous users are not allowed to add new vulgarities to any page. Incorrect citations and lack of relevant information

Within the 9/11 attacks section of OBL's page, the following is written,

"After his denial,[124][125][full citation needed] Osama bin Laden finally claimed responsibility for the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States in 2004.[126][127][128] The attacks involved the hijacking of "

Citations 126 does not state or provide proof in claiming responsibility for 9/11 and citations 128 no longer exists as the page is broken. Please can you remove or fix these.

Also as Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia based on external sources it is only correct to include a reference to claims over his "claiming responsibility" as apparently being fake. Citation 127's proof has been disputed by many sources, for example, http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21530470/ns/nbcnightlynews/t/was-bin-ladens-last-video-faked/

Also many other attempts in translating audio/videos of OBL apparently claiming responsibility have also been disputed with man native Arabic sources exposing the errors in translations.

Besides this, may it also be noted that many sources believe that this footage, that is apparently OBL, was only released as propaganda to adjust the US elections outcome at that time, which indeed it did. Therefore it is alleged, by sources, http://www.consortiumnews.com/2006/070306.html , that this footage was released purely for securing Bush's presidency.

In my opinion this is relevant and should be referenced, just as it is in the following wiki page, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_Osama_bin_Laden_video ,

and so therefore it would be more appropriate to adjust the article by instead stating that:

"Osama Bin Laden claimed responsibility in 2004 [relevant citation] but the evidence provided has been disputed by some[relevant citation]. This predominantly shaped the outcome of the US election. Many believe the footage was released as nothing but a form of propaganda [relevant citations]".

The above is just a mock up, but anything like such is vastly more informative of the greater picture and therefore does not mislead and continually keeps their opinion in a balanced perspective, eliminating any form of biassing. There is enough evidence to suggest yet at the same time enough evidence to dispute and therefore both should be presented.

All sources required are above, if not then the information is available, otherwise reply and I shall provide more.

Note: After reading this whole page, I keep reading the word "Conspiracies". Let me point out, Any replies claiming or talking about "conspiracies" or such nonsense must remember not allow themselves to become hypocritical as OBL's Wikipedia page contains enough information that can also be claimed as "conspiracies", such as the reason for immediate death, the implementation of his execution and lastly proof of his death, which are all based on sources which lack real evidence or proof besides what a certain officials have claimed. Let me remind you the word of certain officials does not prevent a topic from being a "conspiracy", as we know, the so called chemical weapons in Iraq, never existed, and this was claimed by officials.

In my opinion eliminate the word "conspiracy" from appearing in any counter argument as its an awful excuse to avoid valid arguments.

Template:D&D opposition schools (filter log)
Description
I was attempting to nominate a template for deletion at WP:TFD. The instructions for the {{tfd}} template say that it must be substituted, but apparently IPs are not allowed to substitute templates. I was able to circumvent the edit filter by using "show changes", then copy-and-pasting the result of substituting the template. Seems like an unnecessary hoop to jump through. 198.102.153.2 (talk) 22:35, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you would simply add your message to the other messages that are on that page (as opposed to removing all of the other messages and replacing them with your message), then you won't run into this problem. -Scottywong| squeal _ 14:00, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Had something to do with your edit summary, but I'm not sure what. Try making the edit with a blank edit summary. -Scottywong| confess _ 22:12, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The problem was the phrase "death to", the edit filter catches that because of vandals calling for someone's death. I've seen this false positive before, and I'm not sure how common it actually is as true vandalism. Someguy1221 (talk) 02:50, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The edit filter doesn't like the CSS code you are using. What are you trying to do? —Bruce1eetalk 14:12, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You kept trying to insert the @ symbol instead of using the word "at" in a picture caption, and the filter interprets that as hinky CSS codes of some kind. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:57, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
[edit conflict] He was changing around the captions for an image: it had an external link already, and he was trying to change it to a different link; he was trying to change the image itself (from File:Jumping Ships - Coalition Brighton 29th April.JPG to File:Jumping Ships Live.jpg); and he was trying to change the caption. No CSS changes were involved. Nyttend (talk) 16:59, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nawlin Wiki (filter log)
Description
I'd like to inquire why Dr. Marisa Weiss' page was 'speedily deleted' this past Monday... she is the founder of Breastcancer.org, which is the leading online resource (site reaches 28 million people globally) for breast cancer and breast health.

Your reason for deletion was 'personal promotion' and G.11... however if Wikipedia is not a medium for promotion of any person, then why does (for example) Nancy Brinker have a wikipedia page? She is the founder of the Susan G. Komen foundation, which is no different than the content/page we attempted to upload....

If we are missing any information or you feel the page needs to be fundamentally rewritten, please specify what, and describe what additional content we need. I cannot accept that the page was taken down simply for 'unambigious' promotion.

I'm sure that's it; this is a substantially different situation and one that this page isn't set up to address. I'll point JMeibach to NW's talk on his own talk. Nyttend (talk) 19:17, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to touch the template edit filters, but someone else might. All I'm here is to ask you, have you considered registering an account? I see that you have been doing a lot of template work and have been running into a lot of filters. If you register an account and get autoconfirmed, or ask me to confirm it, most of those filters would stop getting in your way. Someguy1221 (talk) 01:20, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You can take that to the talk page and discuss with other editors. Due to the amount of "penis" vandalism on Wikipedia, we can't allow new and anonymous users to use that word. Someguy1221 (talk) 01:16, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps you could check the article yourself. The article clearly says it is about the erect penis. I am not a new user.93.96.148.42 (talk) 08:50, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There's simply no feasible way to prevent this type of false positive without letting in a torrent of vandalism. You can request that someone else make the edits on the article talk pages, or you can register an account and get some edits under your belt, which will stop most of the filters from touching you.
