Admins noticeboard comment

Thank you for finalizing my request on admins noticeboard. The issue was going on since February! Just a reminder though; as you can see from my last comment the issue wasn't just about 2011 Turkish sports corruption scandal article. I deleted those parts and still kept my request because of user's personal attacks, false accusations and "gaming the system" behaviours. Thanks again for finalizing my request and also for your time spent reading my message.Rivaner (talk) 14:54, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ok then, thanks for your help, again.Rivaner (talk) 18:44, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Columbians Drum and Bugle Corps

Hello G S Palmer. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Columbians Drum and Bugle Corps, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Editor has promised on Talk page to expand article. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 19:46, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I did what I could to make Sagemode67's Columbians attempt acceptable on such short notice while trying to watch World Cup soccer... I saw that now he has started one for Eruption, even though I have again tried telling him to learn how to do it before trying... I don't have time to fix Eruption today, so... GWFrog (talk) 00:40, 30 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@GWFrog: if you want to work on it but just don't have the time, I'll refrain from taking it to any form of deletion process. Not that anyone else will, though. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 00:52, 30 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rick Hopkins

Hi GS Palmer: I am new to Wikipedia and wanted to correct the mistake of Rick Hopkins name who played with Three Doors Down on Away from the Sun. His correct name is: Richard Hopkins but he is know as Rick Hopkins. I am working on a page for him as he has played with many artists. He is in Lions Bay BC. Have I done something incorrect?

Please let me know!

Thank you, Jayne Bawden Jayne Bawden (talk) 21:05, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Jayne Bawden: well, I don't remember exactly what the page was like, but since I nominated it for speedy, it probably failed to indicate the subject's importance in some manner. However, if you believe he truly is notable (which I can't pass judgment on) then go ahead and recreate the page. But before you do, you should read Wikipedia:Notability (music), our guideline to inclusion criteria for musicians, albums, and bands. Reading it will help you write an article that will stand up to the new page patrollers (like myself). Good luck! G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 23:23, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Parthenope article

I am interested in Italy, and took a recent shine to Naples. Thanks for the excellent well sourced article on Parthenope. Dylan Wissing

Hi, G S Palmer, the page Dylan Wissing is about the Grammy Award-winning and platinum-selling studio and live drummer, who has played on many hit records by major recording artists and major labels and (I checked again) meets many of the of guidelines for a musician's page, so I can't understand why this article doesn't "meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for music". Please remove that from the page, please.

Quick question

Hi! I see that you got to the talk page of Jenks24 with an ANI notification while I was still thinking what to write. Anyway, a quick question which I hope you can answer: is it appropriate to notify the various animal breed Wikiprojects of the discussion, or would that look like canvassing? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 00:59, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That would be shameless canvassing, and an abuse of process. ANI is not a discussion forum for people's interpersonal gripes, it's an administrative noticeboard for dealing with severely disruptive editing disputes. You wanting to stop me from moving pages, no matter the rationale for the moves, simply because you don't trust my judgment and want to shut me up does not qualify.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  02:48, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, G S Palmer! Just to let you know that I took your name in vain at ANI. I posted this question there in the end. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:05, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is no policy violation in posting a neutrally worded notice to affected wikiprojects. But to avoid drama for the parties, I'll post the notices. Montanabw(talk) 18:22, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deep Breath Length

Whilst I don't have an official resource, after watching the leaked episode I can confirm it's duration of roughly 75 minutes. I say roughly due to the fact that the leaked episode has the opening and closing credits of series 7 episode "Nightmare in Silver" - Preceding unsigned comment added by Smakka13 (talk · contribs) at 15:29, 22 July 2014‎ (UTC)[reply]

  • @Smakka13: Thanks, and I appreciate your effort to keep encyclopedia up to date, but unfortunately that can't really go in the article: Wikipedia has a policy against original research, meaning essentially any information based on the observations or experience of an individual user. Too bad; hopefully the Beeb will confirm the length soon. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 15:38, 22 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi G S Palmer, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled right to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. Talk pages of redirects

Hi, as you can see here, there are almost 900 "redirect article" classes, meaning tens of thousands redirects tagged on their talk pages with a wikiproject banner. Articles must be redirects where appropriate. The talk pages can remain redlinked (if there is no appropriate wikiproject, some projects don't tag redirects) or should be tagged with the appropriate banner. Hope this explains why I reverted your revert. Happy editing! --Randykitty (talk) 12:35, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello GS Palmer

I sent a contested reply to the wikipeda talk page about creeklife.com

I hope you can review it and see that the promotion of the page creeklife.com is for the benifit of our watersheds in the USA, we wanted Creeklife to have a presence like Crowdrise or gofundme.com has on Wikipedia - nothing more. I am aware of the links that Creeklife has added to Wikipedia in the past, and this startup environmental website shot themselfs in the foot in doing so with WIkipedia, they are not SEO or Web folks , they are older guys with a love for nature and the outdoors and has a platform that people are talking about. Also I noticed a link to the founders name is active and no entry in Wikipedia, I can change that if that is also an issue? I I hope you can help his cause and allow his the page to stay on WIkipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JuliaLEC (talkcontribs) 15:14, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Okay - for one thing, I wasn't aware of the incident you mention, so it didn't have any effect on my decision to tag the page for speedy deletion. Nor do I think that your page is overly promotional, though it has a few issues on that front that could stand working on. The basic problem is that the subject doesn't seem to have received enough coverage to show that they are important enough to have an entry on Wikipedia. Wikipedia:Notability (web) provides more detail on what factors are commonly required for an article about a website or web-based organization. I wish you luck with your cause, but sadly Wikipedia is not the place to promote awareness of it. We can only document it once it becomes notable. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 15:32, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

GS Palmer Thank you, Here are three press articles -> https://creeklife.com/press it is not much, but it does show intreset in the movment of Environmental Stewardship and their causes but they are not like a indigogo in that resepect, yet. thanks for the feedback — Preceding unsigned comment added by JuliaLEC (talkcontribs) 15:40, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Do I want to be your mentor? If you're being serious, then no, I'm afraid not... but if I'm happy to help in any way I can. I'm sorry if my comment about your being in violation of your ban hurt your feelings, but it was only in the interest of trying to keep you from getting blocked, which seems like a likely outcome if you continue to violate the ban. Hot Nigga

Ok, I went to bed and when I come back ~I see my article has been deleted. You've not even given me time to try to explain or to improve it! I thought that once a song charted it could have an article... --Sofffie7 (talk) 06:54, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oh no I did not know that at first, otherwise I would have created an article for the artist first and then for his song, sorry I did it the wrong way. I only understood there had to be a page about the singer too when I clicked on the then-deleted article and saw Bbb23's edit summary ;) If you feel none of the articles fit the criteria then I would understand someone tags them for afd. Also I apologize for the tone of my first message. I have never had an article deleted that quickly. Although I have been on wikipedia for several years now, I am still not familiar with all the rules. Thanks Bbb23 for restoring the article even though you are not convinced by its notability lol. Anyway, have a good evening. --Sofffie7 (talk) 19:14, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Actually, Sofffie7, I patrol CSD a great deal, and part of the problem is it's rare for a song article without an article about the singer to be otherwise notable. Very few of that kind of article are created by experienced editors. What that means is that if there's no singer article, I have always deleted it (they're usually just one sentence, and if it's an album, the track listing). Honestly, I should have looked more carefully at the article before deleting it because, in retrospect, it was quite different from the usual. So, as long as we're trading apologies, I apologize for that. All's well that ends well. Good luck.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:52, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Carlos D. Bustamante

Hi, I just received a notification that the page I created was deleted. Now when I click on Carlos D. Bustamante (Population Geneticist, Stanford) the page is directed to Carlos (J.) Bustamante (Scientist, Berkeley). They are definitely two different people. A side effect of this redirection, is that Wikipedia's page on the MacArthur Fellowship program now links Carlos D. Bustamante's entry (who won the prize in 2010) with Carlos J. Bustamante above, which is clearly wrong.

The notice of removal states that it is not clear why the article is important. I thought being awarded a MacArthur fellowship would be enougth criteria for creating a Wikipedia page? The MacArhur page lists 756 people who have won the fellowship, all have Wikipedia pages except for 27 of them (and almost all of those without Wikipedia pages are relatively recent winners).
