I refer to my correction on Premier Supra Mahumapelo's name Obakeng, which is Tswana for Praise Him (God). He is alive so why not ask him instead of insisting that he is Bokeng, which is neither his correct name nor means anything in Setswana? By the way, you can find him in Mafikeng, and not Mafeking as you Materialscientists would have had us accept during your era as historians.

I know Mahumapelo personally, if you don't change his incorrect credentials, I will ask him to change them himself. Problem is you would still ask him for reference because you probably own the page about his life.

Changes in Old Calendar New Year

As you might know the internationally recognised name (in the UN, EU, NATO etc.) is FYROM. Macedonia is also a province of Greece and the two countries have been in talks in order to solve the dispute, under UN mediation.

So FYROM is the name we should be using when referring to this country (same way we're not stating Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, because it's not internationally recognised).

Block of P depp

Hey,

I was interrupted in leaving a note for P depp (talk · contribs) and in the interim, you blocked the editor. I'm wondering if you'd reconsider the block. It appears to be a family member concerned about personal info and I've left a note about how to deal with that. Of course I could be wrong. Toddst1 (talk) 22:39, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well, they were reported to AIV and I felt the block was needed to stop disruption. This is one of those blocks that could/should be lifted upon an unblock request (I couldn't decide on setting the duration). Materialscientist (talk) 22:55, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. Thanks for your repsonse. Toddst1 (talk) 23:06, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

An editor thinks this is funny? Wow. MPS1992 (talk) 23:32, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't say anything about something being funny. My point was that the username "P depp" can hardly be regarded as a reliable "claim" that the editor was a family member; they made no such claim explicitly. In any case, the editor was massively blanking entire sections of the article. General Ization Talk 23:54, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Shivaji update protection level

You have protected it four times for the same persistent problem and latest one goes till 2019. Why not make it indef?

What I've mainly come here for is upgrading it move-protection to admin-only. As you know, this is a fairly controversial article, with frequent posts from new editors to change its title, only to be directed to COMMONNAME and HONORIFIC. The latest talk page activity shows a sudden burst of newly registered making such requests. Our main discussion to keep this longstanding title was Talk:Shivaji/Archive_4#The_title_of_the_page. This falls under "Pages subject to a page-name dispute" from WP:GREENLOCK, right? Ugog Nizdast (talk) 06:18, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Honorifics

hi, I would like to bring to your kind attention on the issue of using honorifics.

I have gone through the wiki policy on the usage of honorifics.

but the Prophet Muhammad is the Central figure to Islam next only to the Almighty. and about whom The Almighty commands to send salutation upon the prophet when his name is mentioned .

thus i would request you to allow using honorific in front of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) as a standard practice as it has lot of emotional and religious significance to the Muslims.

you might have noted that although there are honorifics used for other people like the Prophet's companions etc it was not edited as it forms only a part of recommended nature and not compulsory. I dont think that the presence of honorifics would be an obstacle for easy reading

thank you in advance .— Preceding unsigned comment added by Saif vcet (talkcontribs)

@Saif vcet: this is not decided by Materialscientist, but is the result of established consensus of the Wikipedia community. As you might expect, it has been discussed extensively over past years. If you wanted to challenge or clarify that consensus, the best place to start would probably be at Talk:Muhammad, but you might want to read through the previous discussions on the topic first -- there is a Frequently Asked Questions section on that page which is a useful starting point. The same addition was already reverted by an administrator here, but they failed to follow up on it since. Polyolefin-acrylic bonded composites Patent number: 5338614 Abstract: A flame-retardant, reinforced polyolefin-crosslinked acrylic bonded composite and method of preparation thereof are provided. The method of preparing the composite includes coating the crosslinked acrylic surface with an aqueous solution of an .gamma.-aminopropyltrialkoxysilane to form a bond therewith. The coated acrylic layer is placed in a heated press with the flame-retardant, reinforced polyolefin layer, and a tie material disposed therebetween, thereby forming a composite. The composite is compressed to allow the amino functional group to bond with the maleated polyolefin. The polyolefin is thus bonded to the crosslinked acrylic surface. So far what you have here are all primary sources, which require original research to gather (something not allowed on Wikipedia). What we really look for to determine notability are secondary sources, such as newspaper or magazine articles, or maybe a book review by a reliable source. The general bar for inclusion is that there should be enough secondary-sourced info out there about a person to create a decent article about them. Hi, Materialscientist! You deleted the above page per CSD A7, a criteria schools are specifically exempt from. The school exists, and goes to grade 10, which would be school leaving age in the Philippines where it is located. Rasool Ellore

Right there in the first paragraph in the link on the page titled "an interview with rasool ellore".

Hi I am very new at this and in my seventies, so not too 'with it' trying to edit. However I am try to show that in 'Operation Platypus' Z Special Unit WWII there were also Platypus VI and Platypus VII which has practically been written out of history. It is very close to my heart because my father J J O'Dwyer was one of four operatives in P.VII and was killed in action with 3 of the others. They were dropped right into a Japanese encampment, with their supplies dropped miles away. I believe these 2 missions are embarrassing (or were) hopefully those involved are dead now. the information is held in the Australian Archives http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/SearchNRetrieve/Interface/ViewImage.aspx?B=235326 fully searchable. The missions are mentioned in Part III of Volume II of the above record.. under 'Operations in Borneo" pages 96 and 98 (but different pages numbers are shown in green on page 96 the green number says 225 of 311.

Please help. I do want to put the record straight for all these young men who lost their lives in frankly blunders.

You reverting AIV reports

Can you at least give an explanation? Dat GuyTalkContribs 09:54, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is called "stale IP" in admin's jargon (one edit too long ago, IP hopper, no use reporting or blocking such IPs, most IPs are reassigned or shared by multiple editors). Revert is the easiest way to decline an AIV report without having/causing an edit conflict. Materialscientist (talk) 10:03, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. However, could you say that, maybe in a more condensed way in an edit summary? If you are using rollback, there are many scripts that can help you give a custom edit summary. Dat GuyTalkContribs 10:18, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fodder

Hi Materialscientist I undid your change to the Fodder on My Wings page - and reinstated my edit. 1) I was the engineer on that recording 2) the names should be on the record sleeve (sorry I don't have a copy in front of me now but can dig through if needed) 3) the engineering and remix credits appear on several online references: - https://www.discogs.com/Nina-Simone-Fodder-On-My-Wings/release/6801644 - http://www.allmusic.com/album/fodder-on-my-wings-mw0000252938/credits - http://www.audio-music.info/htm/s/Simone_Nina_Fodder_on_my_Wings.htm

Thanks Falconwhit (talk) 04:21, 25 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(by talk page stalker) @Falconwhit: I reverted your edit. As you can imagine, we can't take your word for it. Wikipedia relies on sources. I added a reliable source, which is what you should have been doing. Discogs and allmusic.com don't cut it as sources. Finally, you would do well not to revert admins. They're not in the habit of making stupid edits so if you're reverting you better be sure you have the facts together. Furthermore, you're still pretty new to be assuming you have facts together. Chris Troutman (talk) 04:35, 25 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chris troutman 1) Yes I'm new at this - million apologies for being a newbie.

2) Regarding "having my facts together" I was the engineer on this recording. Of course I understand you can't take my word for it, which is why I provided a few links.

3) Discogs and All Music get their information from the record/CD sleeves themselves - which is why I listed them.

4) This engineering info has also been on this site http://danielabraham.net/discography/french/ for the last 15 years.

5) Allmusic.com is listed as the first source in the same article, and that same link, under 'credit tab' has the references I mentioned above.

Falconwhit (talk) 04:54, 25 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Falconwhit: Yes, you can find Discogs and AllMusic used here on Wikipedia. Neither should be used. Both of those websites are crowd-sourced and therefore not allowable. The Reliable Sources Noticeboard has discussed them here, here, here, here, here, and here. Personal websites aren't allowed for the same reason. Wikipedia isn't concerned with what is true, but what we can verify. If you don't have a reliable source then it ought not be included. Chris Troutman (talk) 05:18, 25 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Chris troutman:

1) AllMusic has a scan of the back of the CD on its page http://www.allmusic.com/album/fodder-on-my-wings-mw0000252938 (you need to click on the small icon in the lower right corner of the front cover image to see it)

you can see the same image here, which comes from rovicorp, com although it's harder to read the text: http://cps-static.rovicorp.com/3/JPG_500/MI0002/825/MI0002825935.jpg

this result can also be seen easily from the google search:

https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcps-static.rovicorp.com%2F3%2FJPG_500%2FMI0002%2F825%2FMI0002825935.jpg%3Fpartner%3Dallrovi.com&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.allmusic.com%2Falbum%2Ffodder-on-my-wings-mw0000252938&docid=n6QNiUW8NCjiuM&tbnid=huv6fsZ05o5dbM%3A&vet=1&w=500&h=387&bih=541&biw=1116&q=fodder%20on%20my%20wings%20nina%20simone&ved=0ahUKEwj0yOz3z47RAhXKPiYKHbE9Df44ZBAzCAsoCTAJ&iact=mrc&uact=8

As noted in the first link you mentioned about Allmusic ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_201#Discogs ) "there's a sense that it can be used for a limited amount of non-controversial details (e.g. basic album metadata). " - I believe the scan mentioned above should be acceptable since it captures the album meta data.

2) there are several scans of the CD cover with credits on this Russian site: http://musicmp3spb.org/covers/fodder_on_my_wings.html

  • (talk page stalker) This user has already been given a lot of warnings about inserting spam links, which they have ignored, and perhaps even more importantly, a guide from me about the importance of disclosing paid editing, which they have also ignored. It's too late to be asking you for advice, IMO. Compare also, from the history of their talkpage, the bit I wrote and then decided to remove. The user appears intent on using Wikipedia for paid advertising without disclosure, and I have blocked them indefinitely. Bishonen | talk 16:12, 25 December 2016 (UTC).[reply]

lycamobie

sorry, i added new content about lycamobile sim cards, which are not using the same cell provider depending of the origin country of the sim, in a particular country. the source was from my own experience, i am not a journalist, i propose you to take an old gsm, to try at your own few lymobile sim cards (you can get them by mail for free) and to see, regarding on your contry, the host cell provider could differ. Regards.

Okay

I had no idea I could have a conversation here, nor do I think i'm doing it correctly. You stated my edits are unconstructive. I believe that is a matter of opinion. I gave definitions and historical data that has been fact checked and has information on where you too can research. If there is doubt as to accurateness that would be one thing but to imply it isnt useful information that can be used to construct accurate opinions is faulty. Dear Materialscientist: Thank you for your note. As a new user to WikiPedia - I am struggling a bit understanding your removal of my added link. The site is a business directory linking resource - free to use for all visitors - that is intended to create a resource of LGBT-friendly businesses and services for the LGBT community. The user population is free to use - only businesses that would like to promote their businesses with advertising pay a nominal fee to cover costs.

In reviewing the appropriate links section - I feel that this site would be relevant and meaningful contribution to this article - and a direct resource contribution to the LGBT-friendly business section.

Is there other guidance that you can provide to assist me with wanting to make this addition to the article? Thank you so kindly Mike

Kenzie Ziegler move request

Hello, and happy holidays. Someone created a page called Kenzie Ziegler. All reliable sources (and nearly all Google "news" sources) call this person "Mackenzie" Ziegler, she performs professionally under the name Mackenzie, and even her social media use the full name "Mackenzie". "Kenzie" is a nickname used only by her friends, and perhaps some fans. See: https://www.google.com/#q=%22mackenzie+ziegler%22&tbm=nws

vs. https://www.google.com/#tbm=nws&q=%22Kenzie+ziegler%22

Previously, someone protected the page "Mackenzie Ziegler" from creation, so I am unable to move the page. I think that Mackenzie Ziegler is probably now notable -- she has 5.8 million instagram followers, was a main character on a successful reality TV show for several years, and has attracted a considerable amount of press (although this new article is quite a mess). More than 3,000 Google "News" sources: https://www.google.com/#q=%22mackenzie+ziegler%22&tbm=nws But I am sure that the page should not be called "Kenzie Ziegler". Can you please move it? Thanks for any help! -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:56, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Materialscientist, no move should take place until a consensus is reached at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kenzie Ziegler. Ssilvers has also asked NYB to move the article, and I've left a similar note at his Talk page. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:22, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Revision of the name Zaid

You removed my second paragraph because I listed no source. That is because that source is me, with my name being Zaid (among others). The second paragraph you deleted was very accurate, from one whom is Brahman and One Who Submits. And in all actuality I separated one decent sized paragraph into two to make it easier for people to read and understand, then added two examples for the meaning of the name Zaid (this may be the first time I have ever come across my own name meaning "to prosper", and described as a masculine Arabic name). I am also the same person who edited it prior months back, so that those who came across this website would know true meanings and origin of that name. But now that name and article on this website is placed back to how I originally stumbled upon it...with a very improper meaning and description behind it. You removed my separated paragraph explaining examples of true meanings of the name Zaid. I removed more, to have the article original to any of my edits.

I noticed that much about this website. There is a lot of misinformation not credited to being factual, but that of opinions and beliefs. Even if sources are provided, those too are only now "validated" beliefs because it has a source. What is now written on this website in articles is permissible because a source is provided. I am not saying all of it is misinformation, because it is not. But it makes it quite difficult for one to choose if what they are reading to be biased views or not with the end result possibly being manipulated truth or just simply not right, even if it is you yourself.

Sincerely, Zaid (not meaning "to prosper")

Photonic PUFs

Dear materialscientist,

Photonic PUFs are a new class of PUF devices as of 2016 and are not currently covered on the wiki page. I was working on an appropriate reference; however, several other PUF types are not currently referenced either. See this reference for starters: [1]

She is still the highest paid actress, because she received 9, 000 Turkish lira per episode, which is a record. And her full name/birth name is Beren Husyein Saat, because in Islam, it is father's name is given upon birth, though she don't use it. Revisions to Justin LeHew page

Revision correction was trying to be made to remove vandalism from this page. Reference one and nickname should not have the words added "hero of the chow hall" by Dodd related to third in a series. The Dodd article was titled "The Hero of Nasiriyah" third in a series. Someone vandalized this reference back in April of 2016 and it has never been fixed. This is one of the most legendary Marines of this generation and that sort of vandalism is not warranted. Single-purposed disruptive ip-hopper/sockpuppet

Hi,

Could you please take a loot at Wikipedia: Sockpuppet investigations/Lrednuas Senoroc? I have informed other checkuser org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Vanjagenije&diff=prev&oldid=757387369 on his talk page. But it seems that he is not active. Maybe due to christmas, i do not know. It would be nice if you do something regarding that long-term disruptive sockpuppetry. It is a serious problem but unfortunately admins/checkusers do not care it enough. 46.221.179.225 (talk) 13:26, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I also recommend you to read the previous case. Regards, 46.221.179.225 (talk) 13:30, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Will you guys check it before it becomes "stale"?! I do not know why but admins/checkusers sometimes just "careless" about clear disruptive editors. They just dismiss them. Historian Richard G. Hovannisian, authors of "Documentation on the Genocide Against Assyrians", and plenty of other authors whose books, articles were falsified by the ip socks of disruptive editor Lrednuas Senoroc...What do they think when they read the relevant wikipedia articles? What do they do when they see that their sources were clearly falsified/misrepresented? Don't they target the wikipedia because of such disruptive socks' "actions"? Isn't it your duty to prevent wikipedia from vandalism? No one forced you to become admins or checkusers, you choosed it. So, please guys, just devote some time for this case. 46.221.217.226 (talk) 21:48, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Just one example of such falsifications. It was done just 1-2 days ago by the same ip hopper and was fixed by me. The source clearly says " turkish armed forces" but the disruptive editor just changed it to kurdish "hamidiye units". That is only one example of such disruptive edits. 46.221.217.226 (talk) 21:57, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How can I replace the dead link which is showing in wikipedia page?

Dear WIKIPEDIA CONTRIBUTOR,

You left me a message. You removed a small edit I created on the PROJECT MKULTRA page. I did add a book reference to the page. I do not know how to add a citation yet due to my dyslexia. I am a regular wikipedia contributor as an academic and documentarian. In this case I was personally involved with the people mentioned in the edit and I am in contact with Uri Gellar online. I was a personal assistant and friend to the late Captain William 'Bill' Robertson from 1979-1986 for the origins of the FREEZONE material and his research from the 1960's to 1986. I was present at many of the interviews he conducted or was privy to his communications with the principals I mention in my edit additions. I am a Graduate of The University of Chichester with a BA in Media Production. CJ Barnes. Thistledown Films UK.

A follow up comment on the bot-like editing question on the Arbcom case request

Greetings, posting here as it's a bit offtopic for the request (Also, @Bgwhite and Anomie: as they did comment on this). Regarding your issue with bot-like edits hiding/drowning out "vandalism" (or more generically "bad edits"), a few other wikis have a "flood" flag which is temporarily given to editors that make very large batches of edits. It has similar effects to the "bot" flag but is for temporary use and not for dedicated accounts and is used to hide the mass edits from RecentChanges. I presume that if phab:T11790 were fixed, we could create such a permission and encourage editors who do semi-automatic editing to ask for it while they are doing these edits. This would reduce the "burial" problem as people who use the watchlist or RecentChnages can simply have it hide bot edits (which would encompass "flood" edits) and would thus still see the "vandal" edits. Unfortunately this won't help with rolling back the "vandal" edits, though. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 10:16, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Both phab:T11790 and the "flood" flag are good ideas, I'm just a bit skeptical phab:T11790 will be implemented soon (a hunch based on past experience). Materialscientist (talk) 10:32, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Keddie Murders

I'm motthoop. I also run the website, keddie28.com. I would like to edit the Keddie Murders article back to where it was (stating clearly that Tony Garedakis is a SUSPECT), but it's been locked. My source is the Plumas County Sheriff's Office. It's also MYSELF, as I am the one that uncovered information indicating Tony was involved. I've been working closely with PCSO on this mass murder for the past couple years. It was my work that PCSO vetted, and it proved Tony to either be involved directly in the murders, or in the disposal of evidence- as in Tina's body. I've got a ton of info on that dirtbag. Putting his name up as a MURDER SUSPECT is important, as it's creating difficulty for him, which is the very least that ratbag deserves.

San Leandro is clearly lying. I know Special Detective Mike Gamberg personally, and speak with him about the case almost weekly. TONY GAREDAKIS IS A SUSPECT. In fact, this 'edit issue' coming from San Leandro appears to be a direct result of actions PCSO took just days ago. Due to the sensitive nature of the information, I can't yet say what they did, but they sure as hell rattled his cage. Let's just say there's been a run on adult diapers in his neighborhood.

If you have admin powers, perhaps you can make the edit and cite the source as PCSO? Having San Leandro's lies stand is an atrocity, just as Tony's actions have been for most of his wretched life.

Happy New Year, Materialscientist!

Your vandalism

Look, it's fine that you want to see a source, not disagreeing there. But given that the information is quite obviously true and easily verifiable, removing it was the wrong thing to do. Before you delete stuff, you should first do a basic web search (like, oh, I dunno... https://duckduckgo.com/?q=carbide+milk+can) and in fact, I'm having a hard time believing that you didn't, given how trivial that was. Your removal was not constructive and vandalising Wikipedia by applying the rules for the sake of applying the rules and being an arse, rather than improving Wikipedia.
