Translation messages

Hello Kiwi, I saw that you've tagged some articles with the {{notenglish}} request for translation and I thought I'd leave you two hints on that. First, after adding the template to an article, please have a look at the note on the bottom of the tag message. You can copy the code provided there and paste it in the relevant section at Pages needing translation so the translation project is informed about a new candidate. And there's also a standardised template for notifying the authors of non-English articles. {{subst:uw-notenglish | Place article name here...}} displays a nice message that people might help with translating their article, because foreign language articles will be proposed for deletion if they are not translated within 14 days. Happy editing, De728631 (talk) 20:50, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've also removed those edits from the edit history, as they meet the criteria for such an action. Really, who has nothing better to do on Valentine's Day than vandalize someone's user space anyway? :) Acdixon (talk contribs count) 14:53, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Five senses

I noticed you attempted to remove the 5 senses from the Omniscience contribution I have made.. Sorry, but in order for something to know and be aware of even it's own existence, it will require the 5 basic senses in order to observe itself as an object of inquiry. It's entirely relevant to whether or not it could even know anything at all. Please leave it or supply a reason why you think a conscious mind would not require senses to observe itself and it's environment. It has everything to do with Omniscience. Thanks :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by SniprKlr (talkcontribs) 16:02, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Userpage

Just wanted to let you know, it's not your decision whether User:JoeCool950 is delteted, it's mine, since that is my own userpage. (JoeCool950 (talk) 09:19, 2 March 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Generally, when someone blanks a page that they are the main author of, it means that they want the page deleted. Sorry for any misunderstanding, and happy editing. Kiwi128 (talk) 09:23, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The userpage can be blanked, now if there are any articles that are blanked, that's considered deletion, and if blanked on purpose, is vandalism. Userpages though, it's up to the user whether to have deleted. I wanted to see what it looked like deleted, since what I had the userpage changed to had to be deleted, but I changed my mind. Don't know if it would be vandalism to have them delete the userpage to see what it would look like, and then put it back up.. Just want to see. I should be able to put it back up, because I've got everything I need to put back up in one of my sandboxes. (JoeCool950 (talk) 09:34, 2 March 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Blanking for deletion only applies to main space pages, not user pages. The primary user page cannot be deleted with an active user account, as far as I know, but it's sub pages can be. Sorry, yes, I'm stalking you, but not for much longer. SMasters (talk) 09:38, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome to stalk me as long as you wish. :) Thanks for the heads up on the user page blanking rules, and apologies to JoeCool950. Kiwi128 (talk) 09:40, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Planet Veritas

Hi there, I noticed that you changed my details re: Planet Veritas. The problem with this is that this page has been vandalised so badly. Is there any way I could call you to explain?

Hi. If there are issues with the article, it would be excellent if you could explain them on the article's talk page. Many thanks. Kiwi128 (talk) 09:13, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It is a very complex matter and so the page reflects the truth I need to explain what has happened. Currently the page isn't correct and the people who have edited it eg. piccolapixxie is not doing it with good intentions. She used to be a Director of Veritas Language Solutions and in fact owed money to the company. I would like a true reflection but due to the sensitive nature I would like an opportunity to call you and explain. Thank you.
If you have matters of a sensitive nature that you would like to discuss regarding bias issues on the article, I suggest reading this. Best wishes. Kiwi128 (talk) 09:24, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid, I contacted Help and it wasn't resolved. I just need someone (hopefully you) to have a good understanding of the situation so it is reflected properly. I have felt that vandals have been supported and people with malicious intent - not me. Please could you help to sort this out once and for all. Thanks
You are welcome to send me an email using the contact details found here. I can't guarantee any particular action, but am happy to hear you out. Kiwi128 (talk) 09:46, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Can you confirm that you have received my email please. thanks

None of the airlines for which this user has created articles actually exist. They all have foundation dates in the 2030s. I think this user is a straight-up vandal rather than an errant user name. I've logged it at WP:AIV. Regards, Bazj (talk) 10:59, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A7 vs A11

You were right the first time... A11 is for things like neologisms (used by one class in one school), 'new' drinking games (Cherry Cola and Vodka Pong), or new games/sports (that bear very close resemblance to baseball, but use a cricket bat and a tennis ball). They are things that probably are real - but currently have zero notability, with little chance of any improvement in this (if they do go viral, then might be the time for an article). We AGF on these. They almost always involve schools or students. Things about named people that are made up are hoaxes, if clear enough (a 14 year old billionaire entrepreneur with ten ghits - all social media), or A7 if just plain good ol' non-notable if what they're being celebrated for wouldn't confer notability anyway whether real or not. Some of these distinctions at CSD would make a Polish rabbi, or a Jesuit, quail and depart rapidly... Peridon (talk) 12:21, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bernie Sanders Revision

Hi, I was wondering why you considered my edits on Bernie Sanders good faith? It was neutral as it was thoroughly sourced. Describing out his view points have not changed is not biased in anyway. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darkninja505 (talkcontribs) 05:09, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Darkninja505. "His views have been consistent throughout his political career" is a direct assertion of what is an opinion. I expect there are people who would disagree with that statement. Something to the affect of "Many commentators have noted that his views have remained consistent throughout his political career." would be less biased. Hamilton coloring article

Hi, This is Bonny. Thank you for your inputs. Hi, well if you ask me whether hamilton coloring is a type of graph coloring then yes it is a type of graph coloring. And yeah there are many results associated with it. But there is no need to be sorry about it. im passionate about maths and particularly graph theory. so created the page and will definitely work on it. A big thanks for your inputs. Im new to editing so i need such inputs. thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bonny TM (talkcontribs) 07:19, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Bonny. I'm about to reply on your page. Kiwi128 (talk) 07:21, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, absolutely hamilton coloring is not a synonym for graph coloring. it is not another name for graph coloring. It is a specific type of graph coloring just like T-coloring, Star coloring and many other coloring. It is not mentioned in the wiki page "graph coloring". I dont know why but it must be mentioned there too. It is a specific type of graph coloring which is defined using some new parameters. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bonny TM (talkcontribs) 07:28, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Source is speaking with / interviewing the subject (Ivan Trayling) himself. Please advise how to reference this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tralis2 (talkcontribs) 07:32, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tralis2. Wikipedia has a policy of no original research. This means that we must be able to cite reliable, published sources. If you have interview material, it would be awesome if you could publish it on another site. After being reviewed by a Wikipedian other than yourself, we might be able to use it to support content in the Ivan Trayling article (although this is not guaranteed). Thanks much for your efforts, and don't hesitate to ping me if you require further assistance. Kiwi128 (talk) 07:39, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Colective nightclub fire

hi - this might not be the place to put this, but it looked like you did quite a bit with the images on the page dealing with the tragedy in Romania. so i wondered if you could check the caption for the panoramic picture at the bottom of the "Protests" section? it gives a date of 5 November, but throughout the text, it is always 4 November. it may be that protests went for yet another night, but i just thought someone should check. i can't read the Romanian articles (okay, or any articles not in English), and the online translators are pretty awful, so i can't check this out. if this is not something you could, or would, do, i apologize. but with your work on the other pictures there, this somehow seemed better than bringing it up on the article's Talk page.Colbey84 (talk) 11:41, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Colbey84. I actually don't speak Romanian, and made those translations by using an online translator to get the gist of the caption, and then wrote it in my own words. Not perfect, but probably better than no translation at all. As regards the protests, I have found a single reference that seems to suggest that there were protests on the night of 5 November (see (Bloomberg)). Whether the panoramic photo was taken that night, it is hard to say; I guess we'll have to take the uploader's word for it. It looks like they wiped the metadata in the photo before upload (if there was any metadata in the first place), making investigation of the actual time close to impossible. Thanks for pointing out the issue. Best regards. Kiwi128 (talk) 21:30, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
lol - i did that for some of that article, too—slogged thru the awful translations and rewrote some bits, hoping i'd gotten the gist correct. having the "original" helped. i was kinda thinking it was written by someone who didn't know English well enough to write it "super great," which was part of why i decided to go ahead with a re-write. (much of it seemed like "colloquial"...um..."errors" in English.) i'd just seen, on the History page, that you'd done a lot of edits around the pictures. i'm a bit 'new' to editing on WP, so still trying to figure things out. and trying not to piss anyone off (because that seems to be an....'issue' here). thanks for taking the time and digging into that picture more!Colbey84 (talk) 06:37, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2015 Russian Sukhoi Su-24 shootdown

Hi. I saw your edit summary in removing the overquote tag I added. This is not correct. Wikipedia does not predominantly consist of a series of quotes from sources. Instead we summarise the best sources we can find. I also found your removal of an article improvement tag without contributing to an ongoing discussion in talk pretty unhelpful. Please do not do this again. Thanks. --John (talk) 14:53, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

mySupermarket page

Hi,

I'm head of marketing for mySupermarket. The mySupermarket wiki page is out of date and I am trying to make factual changes to our page. For example, our logo has changed and there is information in the top right box which I wanted to add e.g. number of employees and our CEO. When I tried to make changes you reverted back to the previous version. How can I make these changes but ensuring they are in line with wikipedia guidelines?

Thanks, Rafi Mendelsohn — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rafi Mendelsohn (talkcontribs) 10:38, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rafi. It is not generally a good idea for people to edit articles that they have a direct interest in, as this compromises Wikipedia's integrity. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Also, I note that you added an image caption which was far from neutral. If there are reliable references which indicate your new CEO and size, feel free to let me know and I'll look at making those edits. Best regards Kiwi128 (talk) 10:43, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New Challenge for Oceania and Australia

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Op. 27

Hello Kiwi128,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Op. 27 for deletion. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an unnecessary disambiguation page.

If you feel that the page shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

drupal edit

I deleted that sentence on drupal because it repeats what is stated in the first sentence of the article and IMHO is poorly written. Why mention a section of the website called "The Drupal Overview" - what's special about that? And then it doesn't attempt to explain what a framework is vs 'just' a CMS I suppose might be appropriate, so what's the point of the sentence? JuanTamad (talk) 00:46, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted your edit because it (I suspect accidentally) trampled on some other edits made to the article. However, I then removed the sentence manually as per your edit. I agree with you that the sentence was not useful. Kind regards. Kiwi128 (talk) 03:18, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

LibreSSL version tracking

Hello, I see you've been maintaining the LibreSSL version data here. Thank you for doing that! Since that template tracks the "stable" release, which has once again diverged from the development release with the release of 2.8.0, I've added a second pseudo-article to separately track the development release over here, which you might want to put on your watch list. The LibreSSL article now shows both the stable and development ("preview") release numbers. Cheers. --Stybn (talk) 18:13, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the article about the bacteria Mycoplasma bovis

Just a question but I was wondering if you knew whether or not Mycoplasma bovis is heterotrophic or not. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Errpie (talkcontribs) 17:34, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: User talk:84.248.174.153

Hello Kiwi128. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User talk:84.248.174.153, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: WP:G1 specifically excludes the kind of rambling going on here in "userspace". User talk pages are only deleted in a narrow range of circumstances and this isn't one of them. My advice would be to simply ignore this. If the IP editor gets disruptive anywhere else, this is a past record for future action. Thank you. Shirt58 (talk) 10:10, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Um - it is constructive. I'm repairing vandalism from an ip address who is / was changing location information. Help me out by reverting true vandalism, not good faith (and as it happens, accurate and verifiable) corrections. 193.84.224.251 (talk) 10:26, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
