Great! It is long enough now. I will start thinking about a hook. I may tweak it a little too. You might consider moving the pictures around a little so they don't interrupt the text - maybe place the gallery at the bottom of the page. Also I think the photo of the building itself (nice photos BTW!) should be included in the body of the article; maybe move it up out of the gallery, and put the west entrance detail there instead.--MelanieN (talk) 19:34, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

Whoa - I just discovered it is on the National Register of Historic Places. I didn't realize it earlier, because it is registered under the name San Diego Civic Center. I haven't forgotten about this article, I have just been busy in Real Life. I will definitely nominate it for DYK, it's very deserving. I was going to ask if you wanted to nominate it yourself this time - but it turns out that the DYK process has suddenly gotten a whole lot harder. In theory, and until recently, the usual procedure is that one person reviews it, asks any questions or gives any advice, and eventually approves it. But right now there is a lot of second-guessing going on by the people who promote the hooks to the queue. It can take two or three rounds of re-evaluation before everybody is happy. I've been working on a DYK. I took the liberty of expanding the article a little since it did not quite meet the length requirements. I'd like to do a DYK based on the earthquake standards, but the only source I have found that connects him to those standards or that law is that one article from the Journal of San Diego History. None of the other histories of the Field Act or Riley Act seem to mention him. I'm hesitant to use it without additional sourcing since the reviewers have gotten so picky lately. Tijuana Cross-border Terminal

Thank you for replying, I still do not quite understand how Talk works or where I respond. Here or on the other page under rnieders. If the image appeared in a U.S. news paper like the Los Angeles Times and the San Diego Union-Tribune, is that fair use? I was also the project manager of the project and designed part of the cross-border terminal, 3 of the images I do own, the 3 others where given to me while I was involved in the negotiations and were also given to the media for promotion of the project, is that not fair use? Hello Keizers, you redirected the cross-border terminal background which I wrote to a new page, called cross-border terminal, Tijuana International Airport. I started the project in 1990 and was actually the project manager of the project for GAP in Mexico until 2001, but somehow I must have uploaded the pictures wrong as they are in the process of being deleted. You seem to understand Wikipedia well, the pictures are an integral part of the article but Stefan2 from Sweden says they all must be deleted as they are not fair use, even though they came from public entities, such as the City of San Diego and the San Diego Association of Governments and appeared in news print. Again, thank you for the reply, I hav read the WP:NFCC several times as well as WP:File copyright tags, images I created I assume I must upload to commons, but I cannot understand how images given to promote the project and used by the Los Angeles Times cannot be uploaded when WP:File copyright tags states "for image freely provided to promote an item, as in a promotional photo in a press packet." The images not owned by me where from promotional material and I was the project manager of the project and presented the project before the U.S. State Department. I noticed you redirected the edit I did on the Tijuana International Airport to a new main page title Cross-Border Terminal, Tijuana International Airport, could this be changed to Tijuana Cross-border Terminal, which is what it was always called since the 1990s and in all negotiations. Also when cross-border terminal is Googled right now, it goes first to the Tijuana International Airport. I have also requested that all the files/images I uploaded incorrectly be deleted. I do not know if I can do it or the administrator has to. But I have found all the images which I created for the negotiations and which I own, those I will load to commons. Thank you for all your help, I dug out my old files and found replacement images which I own so that there is no issue about copyrights. They were all in Spanish and my disks from 1990-3 tried to convert them to word 2010, no success, had to recreate everything. Images are important to understanding the article. I also forgot a few items that have to be added to both the history of the airport and article, minor and short, just a couple of sentences. I spent a lot of time with Gilberto Valenzuela who as Minister of Public Works 1964-1970, not only did Mexico Olympics but also rebuilt the Tijuana airport and changed the runway orientation from 10-28 to 09-27 due to an incident at the inauguration of the Friendship Dam in Texas, Valenzuela and my godfather Octavio Vejar Vazquez were very close friends, and that is why I had so much access to people in this process, but people pass on and a new generation comes and forgets commitments. As for the opening of the crossing, they are grading on the U.S. side and with performance bonds, that means they will be done within a year, I was suppose to be the project manager, helped Sam Zell's people and the Mexican investors secure the land and gave them all the information, 20 years worth of work, they hired the guy I trained and the son-in-law of one of the partners (Laura) is also now running the project. I appreciate all the improvements you have made to numerous geographic articles. We certainly need more people willing to do that. That is not the issue here. My concern is that the article on a common place name has been written over with a term from an academic work. The guidelines are clear about using commonly recognizable names for place name articles. The title is South Coast Plaza–John Wayne Airport edge city is not a common place name per these Wikipedia standards and includes a description edge city which is not included in place name article titles but in the text (capital city, port city, unincorporated community, etc). Since you have done a lot of editing in the past couple days to write a new and different article under the new title, this might be fine for an article on an academic subject. We can split it apart. I can recreate the [March 2019 version] for the common place name South Coast Metro and have them write over the redirect. The other option is just to change the name back and the scholarly name for the area becomes a section of the South Coast Metro article. Downtown Los Angeles

Thanks for the work you do on this topic!!! I especially like the Victorian Downtown page. I am related to one man who was president of the City Council in 1889-90 and worked in the City Hall, and who was president of the California Bank (2nd and Braodway) in the early 1980s, and who, as part of a syndicate, purchased the entire block bounded by 7th, Broadway, 6th, and Hill Streets. He purchased three lots, sold two (dang), and built a building on Broadway just north of 7th Street. In the early 1900's, the Lankershims and my relative leased their three lots to someone else (I forget who), and a very large building was built on the corner, one that became Bullock's original building. It's kind of neat to have some (long-ago) connections to this history! I focus (currently) on Los Angeles transportation history, and I'm (very slowly) building the Los Angeles Railway article into somehthing that represents more of its history. I must say it's great to find descriptions of the area where great-great-grandpa lived and worked. 1951bfrj (talk) 01:32, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for the complement. It's been a while since I worked on it, it was an intense effort for about a year. I also did my own site victoriandtla277421332.wordpress.com but it's mostly the same content. I always browsed here and there about the pre-1920 history, but became frustrated I couldn't remember what was where, and during what time period. So I decided to create that. Block by block and decade by decade. The real clincher was when I realized that the ENTIRE downtown of 1910 or earlier, had been completely razed to the ground, mostly for the Civic Center and other government buildings, with the exception of the Plaza area, and a handful of buildings along 3rd. Hi Nat. I’m not pushing back on your edits to my edit, at all. And I believe there was an improvement to the article resulting from that interchange between us. I'm not the person who topic banned you, nor set the terms of your release; I was assuming that SFRadio is likely monitoring this conversation (if they don't comment in the next couple days, I may point them here), and theirs is the more important view. But it does raise my concern when I see you doing anything along the axis of UNRWA controversy/WSJ co-author/the Landeses, both for you as that was the path to your problems, and for me because I've already been put in the position of policing them to the degree that took a lot of my time. If I were in the position to set limits, I would not define it simply as a list of articles, in part because in the past you've created multiple articles and at least one category simply in the pursuit of this one matter. I would suggest avoiding not only any articles on the UNRWA controversy, the WSJ, the co-author, or the Landeses, but any edit closely related to any of those things regardless of the page. That is not a large cut-out, that is a fraction of a percent of just the Israel/Palestine material on Wikipedia. There is much to edit away from that temptation.

(And lest there be any question, no, I did not request your topic ban. Despite your immediate focus in the face of the ban in supposing there was some sort of arrangement that was supposed to be gone through to reach that point with certain people being "authoritative" to complain, that's not how these bans work. I appreciate you taking the time to explain. I don’t want to cause you extra work. Honestly the article popped up in my Watchlist and I thought that that minor point about the family talent (regardless of political views, it is strong, admirable talent put to use) was relevant and was actually a positive attribute to the family. I find myself sometimes lacking social awareness about how my actions or speech or writing can be construed by others. But, I can easily refrain from those topics so it doesn’t cause work or worry. And thanks for clarifying the point about how the topic ban process works, in fact I didn’t think you in particular requested it, as I did notice it happened after a “coatrack” and another editor told me there was no choice but ANI. Keizers, before your topic ban, one of the places your multiple attempts to add content about Aliza Landes to Wikipedia was discussed that is still accessible to non-admin is a discussion about a merge proposal from one of the articles you created with the same/similar content about Landes to another article where you added the same/similar content about Landes, e.g. [1]. I had only become aware of these multiple attempts across multiple articles after participating in an AfD for an article you created about Aliza Landes, with the same/similar content.

From my view, before ScottishFinnishRadish implemented a tban, multiple editors had explained various reasons about why this poorly-sourced content was problematic, but you do not appear to have listened, because it seems as if you suggest this same/similar content that you had previously attempted to add across multiple articles (as part of a 'WSJ controversy') should now be added to a BLP as a "minor point about the family talent (regardless of political views, it is strong, admirable talent put to use) was relevant and was actually a positive attribute to the family." @Beccaynr:, thank you for that! You are right, and I overlooked the fact that in addition to my need to avoid implicating guilt by association, regardless of RS writing "about" the subject, that poorly sourced content was also an issue. I was thinking of the former when I made the most recent edit, and overlooked the second (I simply pasted the previous sources for what I thought was the positive attribute). While the Atlantic and Middle East Eye are considered RS (considering the aim which is simply to mention the career of the family members, if related, as is usual in a BLP), the YouTube and podcast sources were weak. In addition to avoiding edits of any sort anywhere on the topics of UNRWA, the related WSJ article and the Landeses, I'll be critical of my sources as well on BLP. Thanks for taking the time to explain, and I want to apologize for the time you previously had to take in order to address my problems regarding those topics.
