Okay, this April-fools charade has got to stop. This is an encyclopedia, not ''MAD'' magazine. No excuses can be made for this blatant vandalism and destruction of what this encyclopedia ought to be all about. How is it any different when someone replaces normal content with obscenities, nonsense, or extremely biased opinions? HUCK2012 [[User:E. Novachek|E. Novachek]] ([[User talk:E. Error reports
Please post error reports regarding only what is currently on the Main Page or on Main Page/Tomorrow here.
For general main page discussions, go to Talk:Main Page.

To report an error you have noticed on the current Main Page or tomorrow's Main Page please add it to the appropriate section below. Errors can be fixed faster when a correction is offered, so please be specific. You can do this by pressing the [edit] button to the right of the appropriate section's heading. Also, please sign your post using four tildes (~~~~)

Note that the current date and time are in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which may not coincide with your local time zone. The next day's featured article of the day, picture of the day, and anniversaries update at midnight (00:00) according to UTC. The current time is 07:47 on May 22, 2024 (UTC). (Update)

Once an error has been fixed, the error report will be removed from this page; please check the page's history to verify that the error has been rectified and for any other comments the administrator may have made. Lengthy discussions should not take place here, and should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere.

References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error, and a suggested rewording is helpful with a stylistic complaint. The main page usually defers to supporting pages when there is disagreement, so it is best to achieve consensus and make any necessary changes there first.

Errors in the summary of Today's featured article on the Main Page

Okay, this April-fools charade has got to stop. This is an encyclopedia, not MAD magazine. No excuses can be made for this blatant vandalism and destruction of what this encyclopedia ought to be all about. Errors in In the news

"A manufacturer is requested to increase production by over 300,000 in one week following the launch of two Turkish missiles at a former oil giant."What is this?yousaf465' The "shower of diamonds" link goes to 2008 TC3, but that page says nothing about diamonds themselves. I don't know if the link is bad or the page is not up-to-date. Thanks. —Goodtimber (walk/talk) 00:44, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Check the date. :) --Boznia 00:49, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough it's April 1st, but suggesting a world leader has been murdered is a bit much isn't it? 86.22.78.112 (talk) 00:57, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have to agree at being shocked into thinking the PM of Ireland was publicly murdered, especially given the violence in Northern Ireland last month. Surely this should be reworded, April 1 or not. -- Grant.Alpaugh 01:02, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wording

Wouldn't "Seen naked in public" be a less grammatically awkward way of saying what you're trying to say? The phrase "publically naked" strikes me as incorrect. -- Grant.Alpaugh 13:40, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shower of Diamonds, Turkish Missiles, etc.

Diamonds are not mentioned at all in the linked article 2008_TC3. Also, the missiles gag is neither funny nor appropriate. Why do we want people who visit the main page to think that Turkey is launching missiles at people? Makeemlighter (talk) 01:56, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A meteor shower looks like a shower of diamonds to the layman. Kimchi.sg (talk) 02:04, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So? Did NASA actually report a shower of diamonds? No, they reported a meteoroid. That means it's an error. Also, I just noticed that this isn't even news. What's it doing in ITN anyway? Makeemlighter (talk) 02:10, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Read the article. There were diamonds. Spikebrennan (talk) 14:09, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The bit about diamonds wasn't added until 07.43 UTC, well after it was reported here - Dumelow (talk) 14:24, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Protection

Something's wrong with cascading protection. DYK Images on the main page are not being automatically protected. There was problems with the previous group. I tested and protected the image on this group. There's a thread at Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)#Main_page_cascading_protection_not_working. Royalbroil 12:49, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Everything

Everything is too old for nomination. Simply south (talk) 09:34, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On any other day, yes, but April Fool's DYK is an exception to the usual 5 day rule, allowing material that has been written or expanded within the last year to be displayed. This is not the first year that the usual rule has been waived. --BencherliteTalk 09:38, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Are you referring to the article or all the items? <grin> Kimchi.sg (talk) 10:06, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up and old items

This holding area is for items that require follow-up (for example, a general point that needs to be raised elsewhere), or for items that haven't been dealt with but where the topic under discussion is no longer on the Main Page. The items listed here should eventually be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as:
