The Miami Marlins' 2016 season was the 24th season for the Major League Baseball franchise, and the fifth as the "Miami" Marlins. This was the first season under manager Don Mattingly. The Marlins finished in third place in the National League East. This also marked José Fernández's final season as he died in a boating accident on September 25.[1]
