Bukit Bintang is a federal constituency in the Federal Territories, Malaysia, that has been represented in the Dewan Rakyat since 1986.
The federal constituency was created in the 1984 redistribution and is mandated to return a single member to the Dewan Rakyat under the first past the post voting system.
Demographics
History
2004–2016: The constituency contains the polling districts of Tiong Nam, Kampong Semarang, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Melayu, Bukit Nanas, Medan Pasar, Bukit Weld, Changkat Raja Chulan, Imbi Pasar, Lebohraya Foch, Jalan Sultan, Pudu Kanan, Kampong Loke Yuen, Medan Imbi, Jalan Hang Tuah, Brickfields Utara, Bukit Petaling, Brickfields Selatan, Persiaran Syed Putra, Lapangan Terbang, Razak Mansion.

| Initially, the Returning Officer had declared Wee Choo Keong as the elected representative for Bukit Bintang at the night of 25 April 1995. However, Lee Chong Meng filed his petition to nullify the election due to the fact that Wee had been convicted of the offence of contempt of Court and fined RM7,000, and hence disqualified to be a Member of Parliament under the provisions of Article 48(l)(e) of the Federal Constitution. Election was declared null and void. The Federal Court had made such a controversial decision to declare Lee Chong Meng as the rightful winner. The appeal was dismissed by the Court of Appeal. No by-election was held by the Election Commission of Malaysia.[5] | ||||||
