List of airlines of El Salvador
This is a list of airlines operating in El Salvador. Taca Airlines was the major airline and flag Carrier of El Salvador. In 2013 Taca Airlines merged with Colombian flag carrier Avianca. Comalapa International Airport is still one of Avianca's hubs connecting North America, South America, the Caribbean and parts of Europe like Spain.[1][2]

2013 | Reorganized as major member of TACA Group/Grupo TACA through Kingsland Holding Limited. Formed subsidiary TACA Costa Rica (using code TAT) in 2003. Announced on 7/10/09 merger with Avianca/Grupo Synergy through a newly formed holding company, keeping separate brands and AOC. Merger agreement completed 2/2/10 with new holding company Avianca-TACA Limited, based in Bahamas, owned 67% by Grupo Synergy, 33% by Kingsland Holding. Started trading as TransAmerican Airlines in early2011. IPO on 28/3/11 for 11.1% of shares. Joined Star Alliance (announced 11/10, effective 22/6/12). Re-branded as Avianca Central America (announced 14/8/12, effective 28/5/13 but postponed to 31/8/13 then 31/3/14). |
