The Adrenalize World Tour , also known as the Adrenalize "Seven Day Weekend" Tour , was a concert tour by British hard rock band Def Leppard in support of the Adrenalize album, which was released in March 1992. The Adrenalize "Seven Day Weekend" Tour was the first Def Leppard tour without guitarist Steve Clark , who died in January 1991 while the album was being recorded. Former Dio and Whitesnake guitarist Vivian Campbell was hired as Clark's replacement six weeks before the tour started.[ 1]
The tour kicked off with a club show in Dublin , Ireland on April 15, 1992. This show was guitarist Vivian Campbell 's first appearance with the band and was a warm-up for the upcoming Freddie Mercury tribute concert in London .[ 2] On April 20, 1992 Def Leppard performed in front of over 70,000 people as a supporting act in the Freddie Mercury tribute concert at Wembley Stadium .[ 3]
In 1992 and early 1993, the Adrenalize "Seven Day Weekend" Tour was performed in a central staging format ("in the round"), in which the stage is surrounded by the audience. Def Leppard began using the innovative "in the round" staging format during the 1987/1988 Hysteria World Tour .[ 4] Depending on the venue, "in the round" staging allowed Def Leppard to sell an additional 3000-5000 tickets per show.[ 5]
