Beirut Pride

The Beirut Pride is an annual LGBT pride festival and parade held in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Its founder is Hadi Damien.[1] The inaugural parade was expected to be held on May 21, 2017. It was the first LGBT pride planned in the Arab World,[2][3] but to cope with logistics, organisers shifted the program of the last day into an outdoor picnic overlooking the Mediterranean.[4]
The 2018 edition began on 12 May with a brunch and was planned to continue until 20 May, but the remaining events were cancelled on 15 May after Hadi Damien had been detained, and the General Prosecutor of Beirut ordered the suspension of the activities planned until May 20.[5]
