Jalgaon railway station serves Jalgaon in Jalgaon district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

History

The first train in India travelled from Mumbai to Thane on 16 April 1853. By May, 1854, Great Indian Peninsula Railway's Bombay-Thane line was extended to Kalyan. Service up to Bhusawal was started in 1860.[1][2]

Electrification

The railways in the Jalgaon-Bhusawal sector were electrified in 1968-69.[3]

Amenities

Amenities at Jalgaon railway station include: computerized reservation office, subscriber trunk dialling/public call office booth, waiting room, retiring room, vegetarian and non-vegetarian refreshments, and book stall.[4]

Ajanta

Ajanta Caves are 76 kilometres (47 mi) from Jalgaon. Buses and taxis are available at Jalgaon for visiting Ajanta.[5][6]
