Legal (Template:Pron-en) is a town in central Alberta, Canada within Sturgeon County. It is located 2.4 km (1.5 mi) east of Highway 2 on Highway 651, approximately 42 km (26 mi) north of Edmonton.

Legal was founded as a Francophone settlement and is known for its French-themed murals.

Demographics

In 2006, Legal had a population of 1,192 living in 424 dwellings, a 12.7% increase from 2001. The town has a land area of 2.55 km2 (0.98 sq mi) and a population density of 466.7/km2 (1,209/sq mi).[2]

Education

The Greater North Central Francophone Education Region No. 2 operates a francophone elementary/junior school in Legal named Citadelle School (École Citadelle), while Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools operates an English elementary/junior school.
