Usher is an American singer and actor. He signed with LaFace Records and released his self-titled debut album Usher (1994). He rose to fame after the release of his sophomore album My Way (1997) and earned Grammy Award nominations for "You Make Me Wanna" and "My Way" as Best Male R&B Vocal performance. He received his first MTV Video Music Award nomination as Best R&B Video for the former and won 3 Billboard Music Awards including Top Artist in 1998. He also received an NAACP Image Award nomination as Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series for his appearance on the soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful in 1999.
8701 (2001) produced "U Remind Me", "U Got It Bad" and "U Don't Have to Call". The album won Usher his first 2 MOBO Awards, with "Pop Ya Collar" also nominated in 2001. He won his first 2 Grammy Awards as Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, first 2 Teen Choice Awards and first BET Award as Best Male R&B Artist in 2002 and 2003.
Confessions (2004) produced "Yeah!", "Burn", "Confessions Part II", "My Boo" and "Caught Up". It won 11 Billboard Music Awards including Top Billboard 200 Album, 4 American Music Awards, 4 Teen Choice Awards, 3 World Music Awards, 3 Radio Music Awards and 2 MTV Awards in 2004. Usher received 8 Grammy nominations, winning 3 as Best Contemporary R&B Album, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. He also received 5 Soul Train Awards, including the Sammy Davis Jr. Award for Entertainer of the Year and was named Man of the Year at the Glamour Awards in 2005.
Here I Stand (2008) produced "Love in This Club" which was nominated for Best Male Video in 2008. Raymond v. Raymond (2010) produced "OMG" which won Top R&B Song and also received Best Contemporary R&B Album and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for "There Goes My Baby", which set a Guinness World Record. Usher won Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist at the AMAs and International Male Artists Of The Year at the NRJ Music Awards in 2011. Looking 4 Myself (2012) produced "Climax" which received a nomination for The Ashford & Simpson Songwriter's Award in 2012 and won Best R&B Performance in 2013.
