Pondar Kanali is a census town in Dhanbad CD Block in Dhanbad district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.
Demographics
As per 2011 Census of India Pondarkanali had a population of 6,611, of which 3,494 were males and 3,117 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 3,204 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 47.[1]
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Pondar Kanali had a population of 7,474. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Pondar Kanali has an average literacy rate of 59%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 47%. In Pondar Kanali, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Literacy
As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Pondarkanali was 4,386 out of which 2,580 were males and 1,806 were females.[1]
