Alimuddin (cricketer)Alimuddin – There is no other article of the same name, therefore there is no need for a natural disambiguation of the subject. It would seem more appropriate that the subject is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for that name, rather than the target also redirecting to the disambiguation page Tanbircdq (talk) 20:00, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - unfortunately WP:NATURAL does not apply to romanizations where romanization varies. The WP:primarytopic if any in print sources is the Sultan of Sulu. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:15, 15 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This page was recently moved from Alimuddin to Alim-ud-Din by Wajidshahzeed; can you provide the sources that suggest this is the correct spelling of his name? Every source I can see, and certainly those cited in the article, spell it Alimuddin. Even if the Alim-ud-Din spelling can be verified, then we should not change the title of sources, so the citation titles will need changing back to Alimuddin. Harrias talk 19:29, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly Wisden in 1963 after his last tour. My friend has the book. Leave it with me for now. Thank you. Waj (talk) 21:08, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Harrias. I have borrowed my friend's 1963 Wisden, which is the 100th edition. The name is in the index and is repeated at least 15 times through the book. I've placed a reference in the article's lead section. Could you please check if it is okay? Thank you. Waj (talk) 14:23, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Even so, that is one source which uses Alim-ud-Din, against ESPNcricinfo, CricketArchive, Dawn, the Pakistan Cricket Board and The Nation. The latter three are all Pakistan-based sources. Why should one spelling in the 1963 Wisden trump the spelling used almost everywhere else? Harrias talk 14:30, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not use the word "trump". It sends shivers down my spine! Joking apart, if there is a clear majority of sources (and even if one of them – CricketArchive – is deemed to be unreliable by many editors) then the majority must hold sway as that is a consensus among sources. I see you are a sysop so can you revert the page move because it will not let me override the redirect page? Regards, Waj (talk) 14:44, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Wisden is not consistent with the spelling. His name is spelt Alimuddin in his obituary and some earlier scorecards. Hack (talk) 14:50, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
