Web page questioning truth of this tale

[edit]

Emilio Scotto's Motorcycle Trip, Fact, Fiction, or Exaggeration? by Peter Forwood may or may not be reliable, but it does present a number of cited sources and walks through the itinerary of Scotto's travels, arguing that he exaggerated the length of his trip and misrepresented which countries he visited. For example, East Timor and Montenegro did not exist, as such, at the time Scotto claimed to have traveled there.

The various news articles I read about Scotto generally expressed amusement at Scotto's habit of bragging and inflating the size of his deeds, while stopping short of directly calling him a fraud. But none of these reporters seemed to have actually made much effort to verify Scotto's claims.

We should keep an eye out and see if any further information on this develops. Could check each claim in his book and see if it makes sense, and cite contradictory sources if found.--Dbratland (talk) 17:57, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
