Requested move 23 July 2018
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: page moved. Ordinarily we let these run for a full week, even when the consensus appears strong, however given that the politician is currently in the news I decided to expedite this and treat it as a technical request. I believe it's quite clear the redirect to the murder victim is not primary. Less clear is whether the politician will have long-term significance. So, feel free to create Jason Spencer (disambiguation) and request a move of that to the base title, without feeling any need to wait for any time to pass before doing that, if you feel that there should be no primary topic. wbm1058 (talk) 23:36, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
Jason Spencer (politician) → Jason Spencer – Move to page without dab and add hatnote to the murder case. ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 07:37, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
- If you had put this in as a technical request, I would've done it in seconds. Instead I'll say support and wait for the consensus to form. A hat note on the top of this page can point to Murder of Jason Spencer. – Muboshgu (talk) 14:13, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
- Abstain. But I’d support using Jason Spencer as a disambiguation, which is what it will be one day anyway. For this discussion, is there a hatnote like {{User:RMCD bot/subject notice}} that should be added to Murder of Jason Spencer? —LLarson (said & done) 16:36, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
- @LLarson: Notice is given at Talk:Murder of Jason Spencer. wbm1058 (talk) 23:17, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support. Spencer's already notable just for being a state rep, and this isn't the first time he's made international headlines. Rockhead126 (talk) 22:30, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support I was on the verge of submitting this very same request today-- no joke. Had already copied the template code and was ready to paste it on to the Jason Spencer (politician) talk page when I saw the notice of the requested-move here. If Justin had not already made the request himself, I would have done it. Beat me to the punch! Also, I am averse to the idea of creating a disambiguation page with both topics on it: the murdered Jason Spencer of England is a non-notable individual (whose murder is notable) who does not rise to nearly the same level of significance (infamy?) as the American politician by the same name. - Why not? Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 23:28, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
- Sure! ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:47, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support: could be possibly moved now, per WP:SNOW? K.e.coffman (talk) 04:09, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support: I've scanned Google Books and don't see another "Jason Spencer" of clear notability. This Jason Spencer's current level of attention is going to wane, but it still makes sense.--Milowent • hasspoken 14:27, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support: What are we waiting for? Onetwothreeip (talk) 06:28, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- Makes sense to Support. I have made a CSD nomination on the redirect page and made note of this discussion's consensus in the nomination. StrikerforceTalk 17:36, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support: This is obviously what most people are looking for now. Ideogon (talk) 17:38, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

Photo
[edit]There is a photo here - it says that it is for public use. Does that make it OK for this article? Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 02:52, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
- I live 28 miles from him, but since he lost his primary election, he probably isn't going to be making any public appearances. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 03:25, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
- There is a very good chance that the photo you have mentioned is indeed suitable for this article. The trick will be finding the correct license for it on Commons. I do not know what the State of Georgia has for its policy in terms of copyright, but for many US States, any work/ photo created by a staff member becomes public domain. The place to ask your question is over on Commons-- someone there will be sure to be able to answer your question! (Try the Village Pump: "Can I upload this image to Commons? It comes from the Georgia legislatiure...") A loose noose (talk) 06:17, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
Resignation
[edit]Yeah, technically he "resigned", but hadn't he just lost his primary anyway? Rather than saying he's stepping down, wouldn't it be clearer to say he's stepping down "a few months early"? I mean, he was done anyways, right?
What's to become of the seat? Remain empty until the election wraps up, or some special election to fill the gap? Is GA on a standard "Nov election, term starts in Jan" sched? 198.147.225.20 (talk) 01:31, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
Jason Spencer
[edit]Now goes by the name of Milton Reese Adler. Uses"Reese" as his common name. Has divorced his wife. Has no contact with his children, mainly because he came out of the closet as a Bisexual and they won't talk to him. 2600:1015:B016:DF22:0:55:57CF:8201 (talk) 13:30, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
