Author information image
[edit]Some years back, I have uploaded Image:Yang Luchan.jpg from the English Wikipedia to Commons. Now there seems to be a problem with the image, as no author information is given. I do not know where the image comes from originally, so I can't provide the information. Unfortunately, meanwhile the original image has been deleted, so I do not know who uploaded the original image, to ask him. Does anybody here know about the original source of the picture? It would be very helpful if you could add this information to the image! --Olenz (talk) 07:57, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Yang Lu-ch'an → Yang Luchan – Is there a reason why Wade-Giles was preferred over Pinyin? "Yang Lu-ch'an" doesn't even show up on Google Ngrams: [1] --Relisted. George Ho (talk) 22:51, 14 July 2015 (UTC) Timmyshin (talk) 21:36, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
- Comment: Actually, the nonstandard "Yang Lu Chan" has results on Ngrams even if the Wade-Giles doesn't, and it's almost as popular as the pinyin. It seems similar to how "Tai Chi Chuan" is a common variant of "T'ai chi ch'uan". People just don't like the hyphens and apostrophes I guess, but also can't be bothered to learn pinyin. Google search results are inconclusive. Personally, I rarely see the pinyin variant, even though I prefer it. To me, there isn't a clear winner. --diff (talk) 01:50, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose use the traditional common spelling instead, Yang Lu Chan , since it is a Wade-Giles variant spelling, it is the closest to the current title, but actually used. -- 67.70.32.20 (talk) 05:18, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
- Support a move to Yang Luchan per nom but oppose a move to Yang Lu Chan. Wikipedia should follow its own guidelines (WP:PINYIN) and avoid ad hoc romanisations or nonstandard variants. There is no need to se pa rate eve ry sy la ble. — AjaxSmack 02:01, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- Support move to Yang Luchan per nom & AjaxSmack. More common than "Yang Lu Chan" in Google News, equally common in Google at large, follows correct Pinyin guidelines, less hostile & confusing to readers. Putting unnecessary spaces in his name contributes to the misconception (seen even in WP:RS [2]) that he is Mr. Chan with the given name Yang Lu. 58.176.246.42 (talk) 10:06, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
