Youve been around a long time - you know you can redirect articles without discussion if theres have valid reason - (like being unsourced for 8 years.) WP:KEEP used to say that advocating for something other than deletion is a rationale for a speedy keep, though they recently reworded it to allow for redirects too, which is different from what I've experienced years past in situations like this. Heroes of the a Lance redirect

So let's talk turkey.

Firstly, the video game is a particularly notable one (usually because it's on some "worst ever" list or another), so it may be that it is the primary topic. But I remain unconvinced, because of the long-term significance; the DragonLance series of books has been in continuous publication (with new novels released periodically) for over 30 years. While the blurb on the organization (for lack of a better term) there is short, that's because the eight individual characters are listed above in the alphabetical character lists. If you look at the page before the merger, they were grouped together.

Which leads me to my second objection: the target of the redirect was done because it was a standalone article that was merged. As such, it should continue to point to the merge target as per the consensus to merge. Doing otherwise is entirely too potentially confusing to editors who follow links intended to point to the former standalone article that predate the merge, of which there is a great many.

Which in turn brings up my last point. When I raised that same objection in my edit summary, you said I should just fix the link. No, as the one who changed where a redirect was pointing, it was your responsibility to make sure the links were fixed to point to the right target. Just like when a page is moved. Don't make bold changes and expect others to clean up your mess. That's just rude. oknazevad (talk) 15:16, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

The video game is the primary topic. Searching for "Heroes of the Lance" in any search engine brings up the video game, not the characters. The video game article is an actual encyclopedia article, with third party references and provides context for unfamiliar readers. The character article, is full of non-notable minutiae written exclusively for fans of the series. There's so very little on the Heroes in the Lance in the characters article that I find it useless to even hatnote the game for, if they are covered somewhere above, then they should be linked. - hahnchen 17:46, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

GamesTM scan request

Hey, hahnchen. I've been working on bringing Maniac Mansion up to featured status lately—the content was all there after the previous push a few years ago; I just had to copyedit it. Unfortunately, one of the key sources used in the article is a Maniac Mansion + Day of the Tentacle feature in GamesTM, which I can't access for spotchecking purposes. Whoever added the source seems to have mangled it: allegedly the feature's in a 2010 issue, but it looks like you've got it in the one from November 2007 (issue 63). If possible, would you mind scanning it for me? A lot has changed since the article was first expanded, and I'm worried that it might have become unfaithful to the original sources. Thanks a ton. Complain about what? What does Theo have to do with anything? I have previously complained about the bot at WT:RFBA and WP:VP. Despite people agreeing with me, it turns out that bot approvers and authors don't actually give a shit when bots enable bad editing.

Drafts are typically deleted only when stale (WP:G13), non-notable (several versions) or by author request (WP:G7). AfD should be reserved for the mainspace or blatantly obvious drafts after receiving help. Both can provide useful feedback depending on who votes but the AfC and Teahouse are much easier on new editors than the AfD process. Hi Hahnchen, you left some comments at the Nights into Dreams... FAC a while ago, and since then I've made full use of the Retro Gamer source you emailed me, along with a few others I've found. Since then the FAC has gained two supports. I was wondering if you have anything further to add as I'm hoping to get it closed soon? I'm sad for inform that I couldn't find any Japanese reviews or coverage on the game, unless somebody has actual copies of Famitsu and can read Japanese - it seems like Japan has their own universe, because I couldn't find anything. Good news, I've downloaded three scans of the Japanese Sega Saturn Magazine, in which one of them contains an interview and the other a review. FYI, I agree that there are too many <refs> with Phoenix Point, and I have plans to cull them, likely this weekend. (I just rushed out the page before this past weekend after noticing its absence.) I just wanted to check in to make sure that our work compliments each other and we don't work at cross or duplicate purposes. For context, one of my goals with my edits is to create and retain a substantive reference bibliography. The most recent edits deleted seven references entirely. I'm sure a few might not be worth keeping regardless. But in my culling, I may look to find ways to integrate some of what's been deleted already, likely using my last version as the foundation. @NoWorries:If the reference is just a copy-paste or paraphrasing from another source, drop it. This Polygon story for example contains no new information, and is just a copy-paste of the Rock, Paper, Shotgun original. Thank you. Good catch, and very helpful feedback. In particular, I over-looked that Rock, Paper, Shotgun article, and it is a good one. I'll replace the derivative Polygon cites. I agree that there are a lot of articles which generally cover some of the same material. I did omit a few from my original draft which were wholly derivative. This go around, I tried to cite only articles that added something to the Phoenix Point bibliography. Still certainly room for improvement. Though my over-arching ambition for the article is to make sure that we have a reference cite for every statement, as the article is likely going to be subject to material changes until well after its release when critics and reviewers will be able to be sourced for frank assessments and evaluations that just aren't possible right now. ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Hahnchen. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
