Dongargaon is a village in the Agar district of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is located in the Susner tehsil.the village is very old and we can see village in map before independence of India.

History[edit]

The village is very old and it have many ancient temples and ancient art can be seen in its culture.the village was firstly was the village of meenas but later meena were burned by Rajputs and rajputs from village sakatpura migrated here and stay lifetime . the village was the village of rajputs in ancient time but later other cast arrive here and stay here.the only meena was saved in meena attack who was saved because his mother was pregnant at that time and was in her fathers home due to this hi was saved.later this meena is pandit of Bor mata mandir and till now his family is serving goddess Bor Mata.The village have its own village court at that time known as Kachaheri . All the rules were governed by here and all the matters of crime are solved here by the Thakur sahab of songara family . Many year ago in a battle a songara thakur of village is fought bravely to save the village unfortunately his head was cut but he still fought bravely without head jhujharu many miles from village.his head was cut fall in rawala of dongargaon in front of rawala mandir and his remaining part was fall in lakhoni village of rajgarh district.both the place where his head and body fall are the place of worship today.the village was famous at the time of ruling period of devi Ahilyabai and before, it can be seen in the varahi mata temple which was build by rani devi ahilya bai. And the sign of oldness of village is also seen in the "sindhiya state policy" in a "stone" at Lakhavir hanuman ji temple.the jamindari system was also popular in village at time of ruling period of east India company the landlord of village was from the rege family. The panchayat syatem is followed by village.

         As of 2001 India census,[2] Dongargaon had a population of 7,159. Males constitute 50.9% of the population and females 49.1%. Dongargaon has an average literacy rate of 60.38%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 61.1%, and female literacy is 31.9%. In Dongargaon, 12.8% of the population is under 6 years of age.

           With more than a hundred Hindu temples, Dongargaon has been famous in the local area for many years.

Some of the most famous temples in town are Bor mata mandir, Balaji Temple, Mahadev Temple, Piplyakheda Balaji Temple, Ashapurna Mataji Temple, and Bavari Temple. Bor Mata Temple is said to be oldest of India.the neighbouring village named Barai(varahi) is famous for varahi mata temple which was build by "devi ahilyabai" many years ago.the religious Place Piplyakheda Balaji is also very old temple.The village has near Ashapurna mata mandir in guradiya.Shani mandir in Guradiya.There is goushala in dongargaon established by Kamal Kishor Ji nagar.the village is famous for the aasharam of KARSHNI GURU SHREE SHARNANAND JI OF RAMNRETI DHAM.The Lakhavir Balaji temple is also among the oldest temple of dongargaon.

Dongargaon also has some mosques for its Muslim population. The biggest mosque is Madina Maszid Road. The residents of the town, irrespective of their religions, have a history of respecting the other religions by involving in each other's festivals and other occasions. For example, Muslims welcome their Hindu brothers in Dussera, whereas Hindus greet them on Eid with warm hearts.

       Dongargaon has many school the oldest one is "jai kisan higher secondary school".it was only first school established in dongargaon by the help of people and government.it is semi-government school.the village have also government school which have two parts one is in hat chok and another one is in nayapura.schools of dongargaon are:

It has provided to the country bright and talented students who are successful in their respective fields. Such students are not only making their region or state proud of them, but also the country. Many students of village are engineers,doctors,advocates,businessmans.The students of village are serving abroad India too.

Arts and culture[edit]

The city is the artistic center for the Malwi region. The Malwi language is a major language, spoken by approximately 20 million people. It is one of the prominent language of the State Madhya Pradesh, but could not get much recognition.

The annual Kavi Sammelan by the jai kisan school and aarambhan vidhya mandir is also quite popular in the region. The Festival of holi is favorite festival of peoples.The navmi and dol gyaras are also famous.

                   the main source of income was agriculture. many people of the village are depend on agriculture for their income.the other source of income is government servies and service in private sector such as toll, check post, shops.

                the village have government primary hospital too but the hos pital of village very small as compared to population of village so population.the village require big hospital and other hospital apparatus. the service of janani van is not here due to this people of village has to call janani van from nearest town soyat kalan.

                    the security in village is not good because there is no police station or choki in village and at the time of crime villager have to call police from soyat thana but at the time police reach the criminal ran away.

Kali Sindh basin[edit]

               The Kali Sindh basin stretches between the southern and northern limits of the district. It occupies the major parts of Susner and Shajapur Tehsils and a very small part of Agar Tehsil. The southern part of the region is hilly whereas the northern part is plain. The hills gradually decrease in height from south to north. There are a few scattered hillocks in the central and northern parts also. The altitude of the region varies between 450 and 528 metres above  mean sea level. Numerous streams originate from the hilly area and dissect the surface. Kali Sindh is the main river, which traversed the hills and flows further on the eastern border of the district. Lakundar is the main rivulets of Kali Sindh that flows northwards. Geologically the entire region is a part of the Deccan Trap of the Cretaceous Eocene period. It is main source of water in Dongargaon.Te kalisindh narmada sangam near lakhavir balaji temple is very beautiful.
