Actually, I’m a little confused with the disclosure of paid contributors. I do not really understand the procedure. So I was hoping if you could probably point in the right direction.

Earlier, the business model of Policybazaar.com was focused around providing comparison of insurance quotes and features. Therefore, the older logo was accompanied with a tag line emphasizing more on comparison of insurance products. However, in 2015, the company got licensed by IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India) to conduct online transactions. So we had to make major change in our company’s logo. The new tagline in the logo focuses more on comparison of insurance quotes, direct buying access and the eventual savings associated. Our older page features the old logo and I was expecting if we could get that changed because few of our customers have already pointed this out.

About 'Rishu' article

Hello! Well, I am the creator of 'Rishu' article. I created this article after collecting resources from various places and I am still pursuing my research on this article. I will, in a short period of time, definitely add more resourceful content to this article for making it more accessible to the readers. For making it more reliable, I added relevant references to the article, but I noticed that you deleted both of my references and you know that without any effective source, the article becomes more prone to be deleted by any other reviewer. The reason was given clearly in the edit summary. You may not use mirrors of our content to source articles here. This is covered at WP:CIRCULAR. Hi Kuru. I was hoping you might have some suggestions on what to do with Lidiia Kondratieva (talk · contribs) and Lyupant (talk · contribs)

You've encountered them a few times now [1] [2] [3]

As you've seen, they repeatedly use very poor sources in BLPs.

I'd be extremely surprised if this wasn't paid editing, given the choice of articles and type of editing.

Their interactions look more like meatpuppetry than sockpuppetry, given that they sometimes are both editing at the same time.

Wikipedia:Help_desk/Archives/2018_January_14#sources demonstrates there's at least some recognition that the sources may be inappropriate from Lidiia Kondratieva.

That's really odd. They're asking if the New York Times is a RS, but they're okay with "famousbirthdays" and all those other trash content aggregation sites? I think this is a situation where if your English isn't very strong and someone pushes you to source something, you're likely to just grab the first google hit that matches your source string. Be it a really obvious mirror or one of those "celebritynetworth" crap sites. If that's the case then I'm very concerned about some of the long coherent text additions to BLPs that are likely copyvios - they were tagged for that at least once before. The "really odd" continues. Looks to me like paid editing with pressure to do quick-and-dirty work. I don't think these editors should be working on BLPs at this point. @Ronz: Yes; all the red flags are there, but I can't find the smoking gun. I spent some time on odesk and others looking for matching wikipedia gigs, but didn't fins a correlation. Found several other articles to watchlist, but nothing on the expected keywords - like "Heyhoe cookprint" or whatever. Still watching, but it still feels like AGF territory. I thought I'd let you know about some recent encounters I've had with both. Let me know if it is a bother to you, as I'm already looking for where to turn to next.

I'm still coming across Lyupant's edits in my searches for unreliable sources in BLPs. I've left a warning on Lyupant's talk page. This situation feels bit strange, still like paid editing, but there's no evidence. I'm not sure where to take it next.

Lidiia Kondratieva seems to be following in the path of the many editors that have tried to make Naveen Jain a battleground. If this isn't paid editing, I'd be extremely surprised, but there's no evidence beyond the behavior and choice of articles. I've made an attempt to work something out at User_talk:Lidiia_Kondratieva#Talk:Naveen_Jain, but it may already be past time to seek outside help. --Ronz (talk) 22:51, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

The link to your self-published material does not suffice, and the pitch for your book and services there put the link in a gray area. I would pay better attention to your sourcing. Most of the references are to very low quality self-published rags. I don't think starsunfolded, celebrityborn, or justbollywood are going to meet our rather strict requirements for biographies of living persons, especially if they're "kids." Dear Kuru.

Please accept my apologies if the links I added seemed inappropriate. I added those links because I believe they add value to the page and, maybe, I had misread some of the guidelines as to the editing procedure.

Just for the sake of clarity for the future, as promotion is not allowed on Wikipedia can you please explain why on your Telemarketing page, citation 4 which clearly has a promotional purpose (linking to a private enterprise) was allowed? Am I missing something?

Your additions were in no way a reliable source by our standards and you have a massive conflict of interest. Frankly, that was pretty blatant content marketing run and you were well aware of what you were doing. If you see other links you feel are inappropriate, feel free to remove them and/or replace them with actual reliable sources - since you're here to contribute to the encyclopedia and not just execute your marketing gig, right? Venkatagiri Raja High School Wiki Changes

@Kuru: @Editor 1: The information which I added in page Venkatagiri Raja High School ‎ is from the school library series Sowvenir written on Centernary Celebrations 1976-77 and this do not have any online references. I got this information from the one of the school alumni. Even though the school is of 175 years old but unfortunately it do not have much information online. This is the problem for many of the primary educational institutions in India and hence they pose a notability or a reliability problems while posting them into Wikipedia. I found few websites online where they talk little about the school. Hence I request you consider this issue and keep the content provided as genuine. If not please guide me how to proceed further in situations like this. This is a very old school hence it would be nice to keep the history of this school known to public. @Shankar1242: Cite every line you add to the material you acquired it from. Do not use Wikipedia mirrors as sources - "enacademic" and "gutenberg.us" are clearly identified as mirrors that copy their material from us and obviously cannot be used as a source. Avoid nonsense commentary like "people used to call the school with love". It may be best to propose additions on the article's talk page before making any other changes to the articles. Why am I suddenly being blocked?

I have been suddenly blocked from various site locations and no reasons given. I don't understand. I'm not a hacker nor person with ill intent. All of it mysteriously done on same date with apparently, many many users under my IP address. My firm belief is this has been done as a result of interaction with the website known as Literotica. I did not knowingly engage in any disputes or arguments, but merely pointed out some questionable behavior as have many others.

I'm unfamiliar with internet speak or whatever it is you call it and this computer has also been plagued with many viruses as a result of contact with that website known as Literotica.com. Anything that can be done to assist me would be greatly appreciated.

Business financing advisor

I saw that you deleted the Business Financing Advisor Page that I uploaded, and I would like to talk to you about how I can edit the page so that it better fits into Wikipedia's guidelines, instead of deleting it altogether. Also, I am not being compensated for writing this whatsoever.

The term "business financing advisor" is a new job description that hasn't been covered yet on Wikipedia, and is NOT exclusive to National Business Capital - it is a term that includes the employees of many alternative lending companies, and needs to be differentiated from other similar sounding financial professions.

I think it's definitely worth talking about, especially how it's contributing to the field of alternative financing for businesses.

I'm a freelance writer, and had some temporary gigs working for National Business Capital- however, I am not receiving compensation for writing the Business financing advisor page. Learning about the emerging occupation of "business financing advisor" is something I picked up while working for them, and I've been wanting to be a working contributor for wikipedia for some time now, so my reason for writing this up really comes from wanting to practice posting my own articles. I wanted to write about something that I know a lot about, based on experience, and something that wikipedia does not have content for yet. I thought this new job description would be a good addition to the field of alternative lending, which Wikipedia seems to be lacking in. The job description is different than any other financial occupation already documented, so I thought it would be worth a mention.

David, this response does not match publicly available information. Please do not add any further promotional SEO content for National Business Capital until you have made the proper disclosures mandated by our terms of use. While I appreciate the company's attempts at brand differentiation, silly attempts to re-brand common job titles like "sandwich artist" and "innovation shepra" are just neologisms. Unless there is significant and detailed coverage in third-party reliable sources that you've been holding back on, please do not add the material again. If you're seriously here to help, there are thousands of finance and business-related topics and pages that you could improve - I would suggest editing in places that you do not have a conflict-of-interest. You can report really obvious socks to WP:AIV - I probably would have blocked that one if I had no prior expose to his antics and saw your report. If it's complex; that is, he's not obviously the same, you can put together a request at WP:SPI. For the IP block exemption, the best best is probably to file a request with WP:UTRS and a checkuser can help you. They've been pretty stingy with it lately; you'll need a good reason for it. Revision to KCB wiki article?

Ref your recent revision to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_City_Ballet :

Not arguing at all but wondering about the categorization of the source https://prabook.com/web/una.kai/384841 as self-published content. On the face of it Prabook claims to be an "online open-content collaborative biographical encyclopedia of people." This seems innocuous enough (and actually similar in concept to wikipedia :) ).

Wikispooks (perhaps a dubious source itself) says "Prabook is a largely machine generated encylopedia of personal information, harvested from publicly available sources such as national registries. It also allows edits from users, including anonymous ones."

Is there some history about this cite that I am unaware of?

Cascade effect of your edit was a robot flagging the three statements that were previously linked to the prabook entry as needing citations:

"Latest revision as of 00:09, 28 April 2018 AnomieBOT (talk | contribs) m (Dating maintenance tags: )"

I originally found these three statements about Una Kai on the KCB 60th Anniversary timeline (https://www.kcballet.org/timeline/index.html). I could have cited this article directly but I was looking for an online "independent" secondary or tertiary source. Worst case is I can take the (five minute) trip down to the KCB Archives and find the original records the KCB staff used to create the timeline. It will be accurate but not available online...

Here's the blurb from their FAQ supporting self-publishing: "The web-interface of Prabook allows people to contribute, by providing information on a person, whose profile already exists in the database, or by creating an entirely new profile. As you create a profile in Prabook, note that it will not be publicly available until you press the PUBLISH button! Therefore, even after you click the SAVE button, the article will only be available in the MY PRABOOK section, not displayed to anyone else. Only after you press the PUBLISH button will the profile be available for viewing by anyone online and on search engines." The big "edit profile" link is also a warning sign.

There is no hint of secondary editorial controls, and sources were included very, very rarely in the material I've reviewed. If there are sources - you should verify and include those directly, but this is essentially just an open wiki. I would encourage you to start a discussion on the article's talk page: here. It sounds like you feel there is an issue with WP:UNDUE weight being given to critical pieces used in the article. You can also challenge the quality of the sources; for example, the original research related to the BB was clearly not appropriate. I would like to make edits to MapmyIndia Wikipedia page. I have done it twice but it keeps getting rejected.. is it possible I share the write up with you before with citations and then upload it.. it is very important that make the edits

Unabashed puffery like "the most comprehensive, accurate, robust and reliable" or "unmatched comprehensive, detailed and highly nuanced" has absolutely no place here. The rest of the material seems like simple adcopy placed to promote the firm. I wouldn't even know where to start. Please read WP:NPOV and WP:BLP. If you still think that material like "An experienced software expert with critical thinking abilities and sound mind who loves political debates. An accomplished public speaker, often regarded as an Orator per Excellence" and all the other crazy puffery still aligns with those links, then it may be best to avoid editing here. @Beetstra: I've run across the reports a few times before, usually when hard searching on a URL - they are amazingly helpful. I can see that shortener was only used in two spam runs; the Indian IP ranges today/yesterday, and that probably paid editor at Jason Carthen I cleaned up earlier. No, it triggers through reporting a LinkSummary template to WT:SBL (clear likely blacklistable spam), WT:WPSPAM (record for future), meta spam blacklist talk (clear crosswiki problem), or by poking at User:COIBot/Poke (just interest or to decide what your next step is, or for refreshing the report to see if spamming continued). @Pinkbeast: Looks like pretty nasty fraud - they're pretending to be customer service, then cleaning out bank accounts. See [8]. The numbers don't vary much, can probably set up an edit filter. Was thinking about running it over the weekend passively and seeing if it picks up any false positives, then make it prevent those edits. Yeah, that's my concern as well - that they'll just start spreading. The article currently has pending changes protection, so the fraud numbers will not see the public-facing article. The edit filter trapped 28 attempts to add the previous numbers, then the switch to the new number. I'll add the new number, but if it's frictionless to get new numbers, that solution will be of limited use. Looks like every single IP locates to Patna; will look at maybe some limited range blocks, maybe. Last time I looked, there was a lot of collateral. Kuru (talk) 14:18, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

I appreciate that Everipedia is attempting to correct the image attribution issue. Most mirrors mess that up somehow. Unfortunately, I can still see articles where the attribution is still completely missing: for example Trinity River is still missing attribution on the watershed image I created. Hopefully they can get that sorted out before they monetize - having deep pockets is going to be a real problem if they have blatant copyright violations in their core material. Did you read the rest of my Commons essay? 30 million dollars. (and something about jars of urine) I don't appreciate Everipedia very much, and I'm not alone.. IIRC they had attribution in their image viewer (when you click an image in the image gallery) and IIRC the image viewer was also launched in the past when clicking an image where it originally appears in the article. This is no longer the case though, the image viewer can now only be launched from the gallery and it no longer shows attribution. I read it; by monetize, I meant execute a viable business model. While I'm sure they have a very exciting all-caps blockchain pitch for investors, I just don't see how they're planning on putting together a real content model to build out anything original. They seem to be bragging about being the biggest encyclopedia, which seems daft on its face. The vast majority of the articles, as noted, are licensed from here. Other mirrors do the same and license from other sources as well, making them far larger in count. I'm sure they have some plan, it just seems pretty haphazard so far. Then again what do I know. I'm sorry. Colorstv, marathistars, and bollywoodlife are directory/trivial listings. Starsunfolded and biographia are not reliable sources. Tellychakkar looks better; it at least claims some amount of editorial oversight but seems like a tabloid. Unfortunately, the article just seems to be a puff piece about her character, and the only factual data there is where she "hails from." You seem to be asking two questions, one related to your deleted article, and one related to your repeated addition of an external link to the EMC2 disambiguation page. Your article was simple adcopy promoting your business/entity. Material such as "helps each of the executives to reach their best career option", "Throughout the year our office sponsors", "Our major workshops offer students the opportunity to network with some of the top companies", and "The program comprises of acclaimed academic staff" is in no way compliant with our policy on WP:NPOV. It was simple puffery written with first-person indicators of a conflict of interest. The link to your pitch page was removed for similar reasons; disambiguation lists are designed for assisting in internal navigation. It is not a directory of promotional links to drive traffic. This film has a very bad wrap. I know for a fact that the workprint version of the film has come to be widely accepted and does not contain plot holes like the final film does. I would be interested to know why you believe the several citations, particulatrly those using https://prabook.com have been walked back by you with this notation non-WP:RS

This came to my attention on the Ralph Wolfe Cowan page.

This page and at least one other deletion of yours that I inspected fall under the WP:BLPSELFPUB exception. These are good citations, clearly not for what the WP:RS was purposed.

It becomes even more time consuming to walk back your deletions when a bot now declares a citation needed, disallowing a clean undo.

Administrators have not necessarily reviewed information published in Prabook." Which part of that speaks to editorial control? What part of that conveys a reputation for reliability? Deletion of a source in the article on Noel Goemanne

Dear Kuru, You deleted a source I used in my article on Noël Goemanne, viz. Goemanne's prabook page, and justified this deletion by adding "rmv non-WP:RS : user created content". I don’t know if Goemanne himself created this page, but even if he did, there seems to be no reason to think that the details of his career and the composition of his family mentioned on this prabook page—the two reasons for which I used this source—are unreliable. Not all user-created content is unreliable, is it? The other sources I used confirm that he occupied a number of positions as choirmaster and organist, and his obituary in the Dallas newspaper mentions two children that survived him. The prabook source mentions he had three children, but that hardly contradicts the Dallas obituary, for one may well have died before he did. — I also notice that prabook is used as a source in the articles on Robert H. Steele, Zoska Veras, Roger Lawrence Williams and Brouria Feldman-Muhsam. Deleting it here is no disaster, but it omits information that seems reliable to me and it leaves the fact that he had three children undocumented. Would you mind if I undid your deletion? @Polla ta deina: If he created the page himself, there may be an option to use WP:SELFPUB as a criteria for evaluating the link, but that site does not include authorship information and it seems quite unlikely. In this instance, the site is "user created" in the sense that anyone can edit the information at any time (basically an open wiki), and the site has explicit disclaimers on the accuracy of the information: "Prabook cannot also guarantee the validity of the information found here. The content of any given article may recently have been created, changed or altered by someone, whose opinion does not correspond with the real facts about a person. Administrators have not necessarily reviewed information published in Prabook." This does not appear to meet WP:RS in any way - I'd find alternative sources. If there are other pages using this link as an actual reference, I'll likely remove it when I do my periodic scans. Kuru (talk) 16:52, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

Auto Block

I am a regular user of Wikipedia. Since early morning today, whenever I have been trying to edit a page I was finding a notice:

"You are currently unable to edit pages on Wikipedia due to an autoblock affecting your IP address. This is because someone using this internet address or shared proxy server was blocked. The ability of all users on this IP address to edit pages has been automatically suspended to prevent abuse by the blocked party. Innocent users are sometimes caught in an autoblock. It may be the case that you have done nothing wrong.

This block is set to expire: 16:39, 20 September 2018. The block ID is: 8593745. Note that you have not been blocked from editing directly. Most likely your computer is on a shared network with other people. If you believe that you should not be subjected to this autoblock, please follow the instructions..."

Now I find that the block is not there and I can edit once again. However, I am a little worried about the matter. I do not use a shared computer. I had tried to put through Unblock Requests. I was getting a response that neither my IP Address nor my Account was blocked. As per Wikipedia records I was not blocked but I was unable to edit Wikipedia. I was not only unable to edit Wikipedia pages, I was unable to eidt even my talk page and talk pages of other editors. A blocked editor (he feels that I got him blocked) has been trying to get me blocked. Once earlier some arrangement was made by an Admin that I would not get blocked once I sign in. That was working fine for quite a few years. I think that facility has been withdrawn and I am getting blocked again. Please help. - Chandan Guha (talk) 05:15, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

While your computer may not be shared, you are likely using an internet provider that rotates IPs frequently. In this instance, I was able to locate the autoblock and remove it. If this is a recurring problem, you can apply to have WP:IPBE - which is what you're referring to in your last sentences. @Ponyo: It looks like the IPBE you granted him in 2014 was removed in the great purge of 2016. It's a year-old domain that has apparently hired amateur-hour SEO hacks to promote the site. The previous socks were overtly spamming. Now it appears they're trying to abuse our lax policy around those silly "Further reading" sections. You were far nicer to them than I would have been. @Just Chilling: technically, the local block is larger and already covers the global block. 94.197.120.0/23 is 94.197.120.0 to 94.197.121.255, and 94.197.120.0/24 is 94.197.120.0 to 94.197.120.255. We should be fine if just the global is lifted. Just to note, although I'm sure you already looked, there is one grade-a troll on that range - it's been blocked locally seven times as the /23, and four more times previously as the /24 range. Hello, i please request you look at the map for the meteorological history of hurricane Michael, which can be found on its page ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Michael#/media/File%3AMichael_2018_track.png ) and does show Michael to have been a non tropical low at the begining of its lifespan, which would make it the strongest Atlantic hurricane of non tropical origin due to having the same wind speeds as hurricane joaquin, but a much lower central pressure.

How to reference new things

As an inventor I create new things that no one else knows about yet but is still public knowledge, so my activity relates to when and how can that new knowledge be referenced from Wikipedia?

I certainly do not want to create spam. I realised that a lot of external links to each invention is against policy so took out all the content from Brian-in-Jamaica my user page, except for one external link but it was still deleted.

I thought that the fact that another Brian Reynolds exists and is a System Designer is clearly true, so a reference in the Brian Reynolds disambiguation page would be OK but you have reverted that because the external link made it spam. I now realise that to have an external link I should have an article with one external link in the right place there. But I am not allowed to make my own article, I have to be notable enough for others to do it. Is that correct?

My next question is can I put myself on the Brian Reynolds disambiguation page without an external link, just to indicate that I exist? For instance "Brian Reynolds a System Designer living in Jamaica" only as text to indicate that I am not one of the other Brian Reynolds? This is to avoid confusion of people looking for an article about me and mistakenly thinking one of the others is me.

That's generally correct; for an article, you'll need to meet our inclusion criteria, and it is preferable for you to avoid any conflict of interest. Please do not add links to your company anywhere; this is going to be viewed as promotional. 		Happy Christmas!
		Hello Kuru, Early in A Child's Christmas in Wales the young Dylan and his friend Jim Prothero witness smoke pouring from Jim's home. After the conflagration has been extinguished Dylan writes that Nobody could have had a noisier Christmas Eve. And when the firemen turned off the hose and were standing in the wet, smoky room, Jim's Aunt, Miss. Prothero, came downstairs and peered in at them. Jim and I waited, very quietly, to hear what she would say to them. She said the right thing, always. She looked at the three tall firemen in their shining helmets, standing among the smoke and cinders and dissolving snowballs, and she said, "Would you like anything to read?"
