The Silambam Asia (SILA) is the official international governing body of silambam and International Non-Government Organisation (INGO).[3] It was formed in 2014 in Singapore, is the only Silambam organization recognised by the United Nations and has members of five countries in Asia continent, and growing further accordance with Sustainable Development goals of United Nations.

History[edit]

Silambam name has made its historical first time appearance in the world eyes as the United Nations Assembly committee for Economic and Social Council recommends Silambam Asia for status. Occassion held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, United States on January 21, 2019.[4]

Mission and values[edit]

Silambam Asia is the umbrella organisation for World Silambam Association (WSA), as well as organisers of international arts, sporting, cultural, education and delegate participants of dissemination events for Indian Traditional Arts. In this role it provides expertise in, for associated members in effort to provide Trainings, Research, Revive, Rejuvenate, Retention and Restore.[5]

By establishing Silambam arts and sports games that group together similar sports, Silambam Asia aims to promote the members and the members' visibility worldwide.
