If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, List of Monarchs of Great Britian since 1066. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – List of Monarchs of Great Britain since 1066. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at List of Monarchs of Great Britain since 1066 – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Υπογράφω (talk) 20:39, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article List of Monarchs of Great Britain since 1066 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

"Great Britain since 1066" is a misnomer; already covered under proper terminology at List of English monarchs and List of British monarchs.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Υπογράφω (talk) 20:41, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of Monarchs of Great Britain since 1066 is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Monarchs of Great Britain since 1066 until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Υπογράφω (talk) 20:57, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to List of British monarchs, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Don't restore the links to List of Monarchs of Great Britain since 1066. It is a redundant fork which is at AFD and appears certain to be deleted. Meters (talk) 19:00, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

And the same comment for British royal family and Monarchy of the United Kingdom. Meters (talk) 19:03, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Meters Why is adding a link to an article unconstructive, when a message appeared on the article saying it needed to be linked to other articles? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chocolatebareater (talkcontribs) 21:22, January 23, 2017 (UTC)

Please sign your talk page posts, particularly when you ping someone. Pings do not work if you don't sign.
There's no point in linking to an article that is going to be deleted in a few days. It's fine that you linked your new article the first time. But, now the article is at AFD, it is obvious that it is going to be deleted, and other editor shave removed the links because it is obvious the article is going to be deleted. Restoring your links is not constructive. Meters (talk) 23:20, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

sandbox copy of article at AFD

[edit]

If you want to keep a copy of List of Monarchs of Great Britain since 1066 then I suggest that you do so off of Wiki. If the AFD closes as "Delete" as a redundant fork, which seems likely, your sandbox copy at User:Chocolatebareater/sandbox may be deleted as well. The issue is not something that can be fixed so there is no purpose in keeping a copy of it in userspace. Meters (talk) 19:17, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

User:ValarianB blanked the sandbox with the summary "please do not save copies of certain to be deleted material. there is no redeeming value to this text" Restoring this copy is not a good idea. As I said above, if you want a copy of it store it off-Wiki. I will blank it again. Meters (talk) 23:33, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please stick around

[edit]

Hi. I notice some sway and beck about pages you've created, and you mentioning you may leave Wikipedia because of it. Please stick around and somehow enjoy the positives. There are so many good people here that you will have to come prepared with many chocolate bars to hand to them as a thank you (I'll take five please, dark, not milk). Editing here is one of the best things someone who has a knowledge-base and an interest in sharing can do, as well as those who want to create and polish the finest and most read encyclopedia. It may help to create your user page, even if it's just a "hi", as many editors, subconsciously in most cases, value blue-linked user pages, which shows presence. It's of course not needed, but I for one would suggest it. So, please don't be discouraged, keep away from or jump into Wikipedia politics (depending on your level of interest), and take pride in upping the available knowledge of the human race (which isn't small potatoes). Nice to meet you. Randy Kryn 18:46, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Matty Wilkinson has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Read WP:RLN

[edit]

You really need to consider reading and understanding WP:RLN before creating anymore player articles. Signing a contract with a professional club is not enough to pass the guidelines for an article. Many deletions

[edit]

I came here after I saw your comment on another contributor's talk page.

I am afraid I agree with you -- the wikipedia is in decline. Some contributors who focus largely, or solely, on quality control, are routinely brazenly uncivil, and unhelpful. Their incivility drives away the volunteers who would otherwise be keeping the wikipedia accurate and up to date. In my experience the wikipedia is simply not being kept up to date, due to the loss of a key component of its volunteer community.

There are wikis that are not maintained by the wikimedia foundation, and they have different inclusion criteria than the wikipedia. Any time you are about to see an article you did a lot of work on nominated for deletion, and its deletion is starting to look inevitable, you should consider porting it to one or more non-WMF wikis.
