Speedy deletion nomination of File:Pron.wav
[edit]Wikipedia suck and manage by idiot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Me2tanveer (talk • contribs) 08:25, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on File:Pron.wav requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Stefan2 (talk) 12:36, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
It clearly states a YouTuber and how he is unique, and has clear references on different topics. It shouldn't be deleted, because it is also just like any of the other pages on YouTubers, with clear information on their life, occupation, and details. All sources are fully reliable and directly taken from the youtuber's pages. --Tyvic (talk) 17:24, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

License tagging for File:LCHS 30204 Front.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:LCHS 30204 Front.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Minor edits
[edit]You seem to label all your edits as "Minor edits", but most of them don't come within the narrow range which is supposed to be called this - see Help:Minor edit. Please don't label anything as a minor edit unless it really is. As just the most recent example, adding a new ref is not minor. Thanks. PamD 13:17, 27 February 2016 (UTC)
Hello, I don't know if you've seen that this unref article has been tagged for notability. It would help if it had refs and a link to the Russian article, which I couldn't find. At the moment, it risks deletion, but it looks like it might need work more than anything. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 15:32, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

I have an english reference with Georgy at "Explorers of Pechora Resources". Retrieved 27 February 2016. proven through the efforts of the famous geologist Georgy CHERNOV. and here "Vorkuta: Recovering from its past". Okon Fuoko
[edit]Thanks, Cotton2, for taking a look at Okon Fuoko. I am still in the process of working on the article (as well as several others simultaneously for this composer); I'm not a beginner, so rest assured that these articles will be up to snuff shortly. I have multiple sources for each article and am in the process of getting them in order as we speak. I just don't prefer to work in my sandbox anymore and so I work step-by-step in the mainspace. Proposed Deletion and Articles for Deletion
[edit]Proposed deletion is for uncontroversial deletion. An editor may remove the PROD tag for any reason. Once it is removed, it should not be restored. You made a mistake in applying the tag twice. The deletion is no longer uncontroversial. You may nominate the article for Articles for Deletion. Robert McClenon (talk) 17:57, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
New Page Patrol
[edit]- As reviewing administrator, I did not delete Amit Lal. Saying someone is a professor in a university is na indication ofplausible importance. Notability, of course, is a hgiher standard, and Lal meets it-- holding a namerd chair in a major university fulfill WP:PROF, even if nothing more is said.
- I also did not delete Jitesh Pillai -- the editor of a notable magazine also is a clear indication of possible significance, and in this case is very likely notable.
- I also did not delete Untitled Ram Potheneni movie -- I do not see any promotionalism--it a straightforward description. It probably is notable, but may end up being deleted because of WP:CRYSTAL
- neither is Badiya particularly promotional--I think the problem is notability, but it may not fit any speedy category.
- Ochsenwang. should have been marked for Speedy G7, not A3, because when the author blanks the page it indicates he wants it deleted; it is necessary to look atthe edit history as welll as the article.
- Art in America (band) indicates possible importance because of recordings that charted--it maya be notable, if better sources can be found.
- Eric Gauthier (dancer) was a soloist in major company, so certainly shows significance and probably notable
- see my note on the talk p. of Giovanni Saziari--there is no contradiction.
- Say So is not A7, not when it has a WDJS ref.
Remember: an indication of significance is just an indication that there's a good faith reason why someonem ight think a WP article possible--it is deliberately a much lower bar than actual notability. You need to review WP:Deletion policy, WP:CSD, and all the detailed parts of WP:N
You are also working much too rapidly. Nobody can properly review new articles at the rate of one a minute, or keep it up accurately for several hours. I've been doing this for 8 years now, almost every day. and I never try to do more than 10 or so at a time, because I know that if i do more, I become less accurate. It is extremely important not to incorrectly mark for deletion the articles of new editors, because if the article is even marked for deletion, they usually never come back to WP.
No matter how many articles are in the page list to be reviewed, it is not helpful to do an incorrect or inadequate review.
Please do not review further new pages until you have some more experience. The best way to learn the criteria is to participate in discussions at WP:AFD -- after you have read the pages I listed above, and the instructions for AfD. And when you are ready, start very slowly. DGG ( talk ) 18:31, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Simply a note also that Howard Schneider was reviewed despite it has a maintenance deletion template, and no contents, this is because a user removed it; I have fixed it now but this should've been restored again, not kept with its tagged state. SwisterTwister talk 18:53, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
Hi. Just wanted to let you know that after a file is moved to Commons, it enters the queue for F8 speedy deletion and there's no need to list it at FFD. All the best, Miniapolis 13:35, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
Hey. I don't write info in Wikipedia, I just translate them. That's how it was written in Arabic. If you think it is promotional, then I suggest you also delete the Arabic page. However, I don't really thing it is advertising the game. Well, you're the boss.
Edit: Also, I think this is all the info anyone can gather on the game. The game is still in development, and the company hasn't revealed any in-depth info about it, like the plot. So yeah, do what you see necessary.

Declined speedy
[edit]Hi Cotton2. Thank you for your work on patrolling pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Vasco da Gama (council speaker), a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, under criterion A3 because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. A short sentence identifying a person as "a new elected speaker of City Johannesburg" on a particular date is not the "no content whatsoever" that merits deletion under A3. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers, criteria for speedy deletion, and particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion or proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. Why so eager to delete my page within 1 minute of its creating?
[edit]I am just getting started on this article. I'm afraid one minute was not sufficient time for me to finish the article. This will be a very long article that will take a very long time create, edit and cite. I have prepared the section titles already, to guide me and other contributors in our work, but I will likely only finish the introduction today. If you insist on each section having some content, I could contribute at least a sentence to each section today, but I would only be doing so to satisfy the arbitrary wishes of other editors, when the Wikipedia community would not be harmed in any way by there being a few days delay before the sections are filled in. There are volumes of scholarly references that pertain to the material that each of these section will discuss, so please just give me a week or so to prepare the article with the appropriate information. This is a very important topic that has not yet been discussed on Wikipedia. The survival of freedom and democracy may depend on the careful consideration and discussion of the relationship between tyranny and arms control, and on the public's education regarding this topic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by The wiki authority (talk • contribs) 18:30, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

I have deleted Najmuddin Bammat, but under a different criterion - WP:A3, "No content" was the appropriate one rather than WP:G2 "Test pages" (though for A1 and A3 it is customary to wait 20 minutes or so to give the creator time to add content). I should point out that WP:G2 is not just a catch-all for "any other reason", it is specifically for pages that show evidence of only having been created for test purposes. Multiple speedies
[edit]Heya :) Saw on 7even Dīnosaurs where you'd used the db-multiple on the existing speedy I'd placed. It doesn't work correctly with text versions (like db-band) of the tag, you have to use the numerical versions. You generally also can't add content, like your "chat" comment, other than links on a copyvio notice. So the proper format is (brackets)db-multiple|a3|g1(brackets. See this revision https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=7even_D%C4%ABnosaurs&oldid=737824671 vs this revision https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=7even_D%C4%ABnosaurs&oldid=737825387 to see what I mean. Hi, I have declined your CSD A7 nomination of this article as WP:INHERITED is not part of the CSD criteria. You may wish to file a PROD or AfD instead. I have also noticed this is not the first time your NPP work has been criticised, and you have not responded to some users asking why their articles have been deleted. If I see a continuation of this behaviour, you may need to be blocked from editing. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:36, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Ritchie333: Your a little vague on which articles I have not responded to why they were nominated for deletion, as I don't delete any articles. If it's what you read on my talk page, you haven't dug deeply enough. Aes hordearium, and aes equestre, I reverted the CSD and was thanked. Also the articles needed public domain attribution, which I just learned about. Another editor took care of that. List of vehicles simulated by iRacing.com, had no indication, either on split page or main page, that it was indeed split. It appeared in NPP as an independent article. I suggest you check User talk:MordeKyle to see how that worked out. Cotton2 (talk) 11:17, 30 September 2016 (UTC)

I can assure you, however, that this is not vandalism, and is purely professional. In addition, this is complex material, and will take me significant time to synthesize into a more understandable format for this website. My main goal is to promote awareness of a new and developing field of research that I believe is important in tomorrow's technology. Please understand more edits will come in time. -SimicChemist — Preceding unsigned comment added by SimicChemist (talk • contribs) 04:19, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
Surnames--it makes more sense to speak of origins (first historical references/records)
[edit]I have started the talk page for the article. Please respond there so we can fix the anonymous changes that removed reference to the surname's Sephardi Jewish connection and arbitrarily added reference to one of many countries where the surname can be found. Philip Yenyo Edit
[edit]Well, I'm the source. Dolores is my mother, her name is not spelled how you keep editing it. Roda25 (talk) 12:18, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
Haydon Manning (new editor and possible CoI candidate)
[edit]Hi Cotton2, thanks for your recent revert on the article Haydon Manning. It appears that User:Willow2009 is a new user, unfamiliar with Wikipedia policies. Given the nature of his/her deletions and additions made today, exclusive to the one article, I would guess that it is quite likely that the editor is closely related to the subject of the article, and may have a WP:COI. What is the best action to take in such an instance? It seems that the author didn't understand/value your revert and needs some pointers to relevant policies in the very least. --Danimations (talk) 11:11, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Danimations: I posted a Welcome message on Willow2009's talk page with that information. Now I have posted 2nd level warnings also. An entry on the article talk page toward a consensus is probably needed too. You want to get that started? It is required before strong action can be taken. Cotton2 (talk) 12:49, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
